funniest thing... my husband just called from work and was talking about this summer, wanting to take a vacation. i said yeah, im sure we would do something. he said we should take a cruise. i said i would think about it, considering my "water issues" which would be that i cant swim..more like i sink like a rock. i dont know how i would feel being around that much water.. have any of you ever been on a cruise and what do you think?

I've been on a cruise before and unless you purposely go to a place where you can see the water you don't even know its there most of the time. The food alone was worth it. I couldn't swim very well at the time either so its first hand experience. ^_^

I'm so tired this morning. I've been up since 7 am. I probably fell asleep at 2 am....but I woke before my alarm at 7 am. I guess it is because we are babysitting my brother's fiance's son this week. He is 5. Since school is out and daycare is expensive for this week in what they are charging, my mom is watching him for the rest of the week.
This should be interesting.

Lillian you might want to buy some dvds for him to watch. My son's current favorites are a dvd series called Nick Jr Favorites that have several different things on them. I think most of them feature Dora the Explorer, Blues Clues, Max and Ruby, Little Bill, The Backyardigans, etc. There are also ones called Nick Favorites that feature cartoons for the slightly older crowd if he prefers. I know they say tv is evil and all that crap but any good parent will tell you that it serves a purpose and therefore isn't. Also the board game Candy Land is always a classic favorite from that age till like 9 or 10. Finally simple arts and crafts things are always fun. If you do a search online you can find some wonderfully fun crafts to do together. Good Luck!

So far we've watched cartoons with him and took him Bowling. I cringed every time he chucked that bowling ball down the lane.
Now my parents are taking him to Chickfila to play on the playground. I'm staying home since I just started my diet today...and it would be too tempting to go to Chickfila.
Thanks for the suggestions. Might have to try some of those.

Kristine....exnay the cruise. I totally share your water thing. I mean I swim well...really well...like a fish. But I HATE deep water. I won't go in a lake or the ocean and sometimes I won't even go in pools. I don't even own a suit, haven't for years.
You couldn't get me on a cruise if you were God herself. I was made to go into the ocean, once, at the end of the pier in Catalina when I was like 12 and it is the most terrifying, horrific, petrifying, memorable, longest scare of my entire life.
Do they have a name for what's wrong with me? rofl blaugh eek rolleyes gonk burning_eyes

I've seen too many something in the water movies to really want to go into deep water, murky water...and then Pirahna ruined pools for me.
I loves the water too....but you can't play me enough right now to get into a swimsuit.

Don't forget Speed 2. But I dont' think a cruise would bother me as much as the water....more what I hear about the v. small quarters.

*sigh* Looks like I have to get used with not doing lots of stuff afterall. It seems that my work situation isn't as good as I had understood. Boss told us today at work that there will be major cost cuts in the personnell. But I'll manage. I still get to do my thesis there and I graduate in half an year. I'm just afraid for few of my work collagues. They have huge loans and kids on their way and now there's a risk that everyone will lose their jobs. This was really not the best way to start the new year.

I think that cruise ships mostly travel at night and dock during the day so you can visit various places on land. wink I'm not sure it that makes a difference for you.
