"Love," Sean answered, and tried to smile. Her unamused stare though meant it probably wasn't working.
The bartender set a glass of something on the bar as Sean pulled out a handkerchief from his coat. If he was lucky, the bleeding would stop soon.
"You don't look the kind to get called that though. Can't imagine too many have the nerve to," he added and hoped that his voice had dropped when he released his nose. "Name's Sean. Forgive me, love, for not shaking your hand."

Svana put on a sharky smile. "My name is Svana. Here, let me help you with that," she offered, giving him no chance to respond before grabbing his nose at the bridge and bending him backward once she had the force of control. "And don't ever call me 'love' again, or I'll break your godsbedamned nose off and wear it like a necklace. Understand?" All the while her tone remained level. She squeezed a little harder on his nose to punctuate her statement. If she needed to, she would smack his head against the counter, too, but she didn't figure it would take that much to get her point across.

Svana grabbed him and made him bend back, threatening him with harm as he had half guessed she would. Anyone who wore that much ink and had an freshly stitched wound had to be capable of kicking his a**. His quick thinking of grabbing the table with his left hand was perhaps the only thing that kept him from being dumped on the floor.
"Tricky sirens, I must be dreaming," he almost breathed out, but caught himself as she squeezed his nose and made the pain come back in full force.
"Understood," he said, as he furrowed his pierced brows, then motioned with the hook on his right hand, "would you mind lending me a hand and setting it? I'd hate for a door to ruin my face."

Svana was actually surprised that he complied. She didn't expect it to last. Until then, she figured she had no choice at this point since he agreed to readily. Releasing his nose, she fell back and shook her hand free of a few droplets of blood. Sean gestured with a hooked hand while asking her to set his nose. If he had both hands, she might have considered refusing him. Since he was a little incapacitated, she decided to take pity on him. "Ice," she snapped to the serving wench, and then gestured for him to have a seat on the stool. "Too bad about your hand. I lost a finger once. Took me nearly a century to regrow. It still doesn't have great feeling in it," she muttered distractedly. A whole hand would probably take two centuries or more. "Tip your face back and I'll straighten it. Luck you, I've had plenty of experience with this."

Claudette grinned at the elf's threat. Maybe she's get to use her blade after all. She focused on the girl sitting with her, the one with the dark hair.
"I'm sure we'll find a way to get back where we came from," she said, forcing her tone to be optimistic and bubbly.
Turning to the elf, she said, "That's an impressive threat."
Claudette studied the elf's muscles. I bet she could lift an entire ship, she thought. If this woman ever decided to be a threat to her, Claudette wasn't confident she could fight her off and win.
She couldn't say she wasn't surprised when the elf decided to help the man she had just furtherly injured. Silently, she watched, wondering exactly how much mercy this woman had in her, or was this the exception?

"Are you sure we're not lost?" Will asked for the second or third time since they'd left. Marlc shook his head, golden mane bouncing with his ears.
"We're not lost, we're exploring," the tall native insisted. "There looks like a good place," he said, pointing across the lane.
"Your good or my good?" Will asked, frowning. He'd learned to be aware that there was a difference.
"We'll find out," Marlc said, leading him through the waning late-morning traffic.
The door opened with a jingle, and a thick wave of a half-forgotten smell washed over the two of them.
"Oh my God," Will said, stepping inside and taking a deep breath. "Coffee."
Marlc glanced around, noting the racial composition of the patrons. Well, he was used to be outnumbered, but this time it wasn't by the usual blend of Dasnans. He was surprised to find Will striding confidently to the bar, and followed at a small distance.
Will had sat himself down at a bar stool, looking unusually content, or even happy. Marlc parked himself in a seat next to him, and leaned in to whisper, "You're familiar with this place?"
"Oh, I guess so," Will said, looking around the room with a dopey grin on his boyish face. "I had a dream a while back that went like this. I think we might have fallen asleep at some point. See? I remember that one elf. Maybe." He frowned. "She was a lot less bloodied up, last time."
Marlc shrugged. Group delusion? A very convincing one, but he'd lived through stranger things.
"I'm getting a hot chocolate," Will announced, and a waitress materialized in front of him.
"Wine for me," Marlc said, hands folded neatly in front of him.

Sean sat up as Svana took him up on the request and the humans next to her said something that he ignored in favor of keeping whatever favor he had gained with Svana.
He glanced down at his hook at her comment about regrowing a finger. Her tone didn't sound like she was joking, but the impossibility of it meant she had to be.
"Yeah, well, it's not like I needed it anyway," he said, and leaned his head back so the ceiling was at eye level and the strip of sunkissed hair on the top of his head fell back so that it stuck up like a bird's crest. "The nose I do. Just be careful of the piercing."

Glancing sidelong at Claudette, she flashed her a wry grin. "It's not among my better threats, but it'll do," she conceded.
"The hook is an interesting adaptation. Must come in handy," she commented as Sean tipped his head back. Pressing the fingers of her hands in an A formation, starting at the bridge of her nose and working down, she pushed his cartilage back into shape. "I can't say it'll be perfect when I'm through. I've got a few healers that can work miracles on broken noses, but they're all back at the camp."
Whens she reached the base of his nose, she released him and took the towel of ice the waitress offered up, slapping it against his face.
"Ice for a stretch and you should be good to go, lad. Have fun blowing the clotted blood out of it later."

Claudette watched as she snapped the nose back into place. This elf - Svana, was it? - seemed to have a strange sort of compassion about her, despite the fact that she seemed very willing to attack over a word. Intriguing notions aside, Claudette's heart sank as she noticed a familiar silhouette at the counter.
"Apple cider, the hard stuff, over ice," the familiar, high voiced woman said as she threw a large sum of money on the counter.
Not waiting for her drink, the nineteen year old raced over to Claudette and let out a high pitch shriek.
"Oh, it's really you!" Kira screamed, throwing her arms around Claudette. "I thought I was completely alone, but you're here!"
Claudette sighed. Out of everyone, did it really need to be her? The waitress was bringing over the cider to Kira in a fishbowl, and that was the only reason she let go of Claudette.
"So. Going to introduce me to everyone?" She snapped, though her tone was sweet.
"Everyone can introduce themselves. It's not my responsibility to include you," Claudette said coldly.
"You're so mean!" Kira pouted as she sucked the cider through a straw. Then, to the others, she shouted proudly, "My name's Kira, and I'm going to be a Prescott one day!"
Claudette wrinkled her nose in sheer annoyance. They had been over this many times. That idiot, she thought as Kira was happily bouncing.

Sean resisted sticking out his studded tongue at the humble comment about her threat. Svana didn't need words when she looked the way she did and was as fast acting as she was.
She was also fairly decent at fixing noses, he thought, as she made some comment about healers that was likely to get her burned for witchcraft if they were true.
The ice was a nice touch. That was hard to come by stuck on a ship in the tropics. He kept it pressed to his face with his hook as he used his hand to down the drink he had ordered.
"Blood," he said, and stuck his tongue out at the taste, then turned back to Svana to flash her a grin and keep their conversation going. The high pitched shrieks from the human girls slammed into his face with all the force a headache could have.
"You threaten me, you fix my nose," he said, "least I can do it buy you a drink. Maybe something that doesn't taste like human piss and is worthy of getting a hangover on since I'm-" he paused to motion at his face, "going to feel like I have one one way or another."

Vaguely amused that he insisted on "buying" her anything, she shrugged and gestured amicably. "Sure, kid. Buy me a drink," she invited. He was so far out of his league it almost wasn't funny.
Almost.
Just then a shrill noise threatened to rupture her eardrum. Having pummeled her body against dwarves all day, the last thing she wanted was a headache from a whiny, shrieking human.
"Burn it all, would you muzzle that thing and make it stop?" She considered adding a threat to do with ripping out voice boxes, but thought that might be overkill. She swiveled on the source of the noise, expression bordering on wrathful. "You want to see someone be mean? I'll show you. Please. Tempt me," she invited in a low growl.

Claudette stifled a laugh; if Svana was going to rip Kira to peices, she deserves everything she gets. Kira was still sucking down her alcohol noisely when Svana gave her that death glare, and she didn't flinch. Claudette felt a little uneasy but stayed out of it.
"Oh. My. God," Kira said, drawing out the last syllable in a large whine. "Your ugliness is hurting my eyes. So I guess that makes us even. Ever heard of makeup, sweetcakes?" Her tone was sickly sweet, full of attitude, and Claudette sighed. This wasn't going to end well.
"Remember," Kira added, just as sweetly, "if you attack me, I know magic that will blow you to smithereens. Your insides can become your outsides, if you prefer that. Or I could just incinerate you. I'll be nice and give you the choice, brute."
Claudette nervously played with her hands. Immortals using their magic always made her anxious. Should she run? She felt like she should help Svana, but would she even need it? Or would Kira attack her instead? Worried, she found her hand at her blade, not taking her eyes off Kira.

Veiris nodded at the elf's explanation, still in awe at the markings. "Black veins equal longer lived. Interesting marking for an interesting purpose," he commented, more to himself than to anyone at the table. He lapsed back into silence as another joined the table- the same pointed ears as the blood-covered woman but no black veins. He wondered if this man was just a younger version of the same Feineil as the woman or if he was different altogether- more like those he remembered meeting before.
He couldn't help but chuckle as the man called Svana, "babe" and learned not to do so again. Who calls a blood covered woman babe and doesn't expect a good slapping, he thought. The atmosphere seemed more amicable than before as the group seemed to settle into their confusion and apparent all around love of weapons. But Veiris still felt slightly uncomfortable and realized that the tea house was far too warm to be wearing a scarf and full coat.
He looked around the group and saw everyone relatively distracted and unphased by Svana's markings. He figured his own tattoos would draw no more attention than her blackened veins.
Veiris pulled his scarf free then pulled his gloves free. He shoved both in the duffle at his feet before slipping his coat off and laying it over the duffle.
When another shrill voice joined the group followed by a very energetic girl, Veiris nearly jumped in his seat and had to fight the urge to hide or shift.

Sean's mouth dropped open just long enough to realize Svana was old enough to have been Finn's grandmother's elder, and started to tell her he'd changed his mind.
Then she threatened the human with something that made Sean decided he'd actually pay for the drinks instead of skipping out when someone inevitably started a fight.
That chance came when the other human spat something back. He let it pass by though.
"You gonna let her get away with that, love?" Sean asked as he held up his finger for another drink.

Humans and their magic. Leaning back in her stool, Svana spread her hands. "No, of course I wouldn't attack you. I'll make him do it." She jerked her thumb toward Sean just as he asked her if she was going to take that from the little human.
If the child was capable of "blowing" anything up, she could demonstrate on the one-handed elf next to her. The remarks on her appearance passed over her head. She just walked--scathed--out of a blood bath. She hadn't had a bath in over a week. The way she looked didn't concern her.
Taking her drink, she tipped it back and downed the whole glass. She was much too sober for this right now.
"Go get her, lad. Do your queen proud," she encouraged, her tone just as flat and colorless as before.
