Well, at least she was walking.
Sort of.
"Fancy?" repeated Gale, slanting a mildly sardonic look over to Marcus before he turned his attention towards Solia once more. "Well, not exactly the word I'd use for it, personally, but if that's how you see it..."
He scribbled down her name on the clipboard (which looked more like Sliop Bemocroos than Solia Delacroix and then jotted down Alexi Jamil (Abost Jontt) in the appropriate space.
He wasn't Death Division for nothing, after all.
Reaching out a hand towards Alexi, Gale said "Welcome to you as well. I'm in Death Division, as Marcus already said, which is better than his Division but with a slightly less pleasing leader."
The tone was lightly teasing, and there was the barest hint of a smile on Gale's face before it disappeared into his usual stoic expression. He looked over at Marcus and said, "Well, shall we give them the grand tour, then?"

"Fancy like too complicated I'll grab a to long didn't read version later. Spark notes it for me. That sort of fancy. Fancy complex." It made sense to her, why shouldn't it make sense to anyone else? Trying to see what Gale was writing proved futile, as she saw scribbles, then the back of his head. So not fair. "But um okay. Tours sound good. I- Oh my god stop that." She waved a hand at Lex before giving his hand a shake. "You guys can't all be tall and attractive. It seriously is just not fair. Like Labyrinth levels unfair." At least no one was running around with a huge bulge in tights and singing with insane amounts of glitter all over the walls. A sigh she touched her hair, making sure it was in place. "But it's nice to meet you Alexei, I'm Solia Delacroix. Division short apparently." A pox upon the tall and attractive."What now?" ---- Marcus nodded. "You got it. And yeah. Trainees are pretty much considered disposable by some of the leads." He looked at Gale. "So it's a good idea to be useful. Your weapon will come pretty shortly." Solia got a small smirk at her quip about being tall and attractive. "Well, I'd say we're ready to go. Gale, I'll call in some replacements if you want to just get them started on the break down and ready for the cove?"

"Stop being tall and attractive? Sorry Miss Delacroix, those two are just engraved in my genetics." He bent down to kiss her hand lightly, before letting go and turning to Marcus. "Disposables? Well, that would explain the hell we went through just to wake up." He shrugged, beginning to feel comfortable in his skin again. "Let's do this, then." He began walking towards the nearest exit when something clicked in his head.
These were his superiors - he couldn't just boss them around willy nilly. "Ah, pardon my abrasiveness; headache and such, sirs." He looked more towards Marcus than Gale. Mostly because he could see Marcus without bending his neck, and slightly because Lex was not a fan of having someone visibly younger than him ordering him around. "May I ask we take this tour? I'd like to get started immediately, sirs."

Oh, he was smooth. Very smooth. Kissing her hand like a gentleman. Solia was suddenly very okay with following him. He kissed her hand and was being friendly without being creeper friendly. That was good. ---- "Let's head out." Marcus was just going to take the chance to get out of the duty. Live people were better than sleeping people.

Darkness. Silence. Everything was dull.
But then he heard noises. Hissing? He felt cold. He tried to move, but felt nothing. Was he... dead? Surely, he deserved death, after what he did. After what he COULDN'T do. Yes, he was dead.
... But wasn't that normal? He was dead.
And then there was light. Painfully, bright light.
"Ow, s**t!" ... Wait, why was he talking?
It burned, but... he felt pain, which meant... he was alive? How was that possible?
He blinked for several minutes, light still burning his retinas. He was... in a room?
Jake looked around the room. There were... a lot of strange man-sized glowing pods. And he was in one. Where the hell was he? Was this... the future? Dead, and brought back in the future with some weird wacky futuristic technology?
He tried to remember, but his head only ached. There was... fighting. Always. Fighting. But no, something was different.
Shadows... darkness... death. And... hunters...
"Ugh." He didn't want to think anymore.

"...My, this is the first time anyone has woken up while I'm the one on pod duty."
The young man would soon find a face directly in front of his, bright blue eyes blinking at him curiously. He looked rather disoriented, Eva noted, but she wouldn't blame him for that--she remembered just how bright and loud everything had seemed when she had first stepped out from that pod. Leaning back so that she was no longer in his face, the girl smiled, lifting a hand and fluttering her fingers in greeting.
"Hey there, and welcome to Deus Ex!" She chirped cheerfully, propping her hands up on her hips, "I'm Eva Valente, one of the death trainees here."

He rubbed the back of his head, still wondering where the hell he was, when he heard a voice. A feminine voice. ... A girl?
He looked up, only to be greeted a face mere inches from his. "HOLY SH-"
She pulled back and waved at him, and he could only stare. ... Who the hell was she?
He put his face in his hands, thinking this was still just a dream. Just a dream. But then she said something else.
"Deus... Ex? He back at her. Death... Trainee?
"Where the hell am I?"

"You're on an island," Eva replied patiently, her lips still curved upwards in a smile, "And as I said, you're at Deus Ex Machina, a training facility."
Walking towards the pod that the young man had emerged from, she tapped her finger against the machine. "Do you remember anything about the dream you had while you were in this? It was...a test of sorts, I suppose, and since you're here now, that means that you've passed." Which was a somewhat rare occurrence, as one could judge by the number of pods that remained sealed close.
"So!" With a cheerful grin, she whirled around to face him, "I'm sure you have a lot of other questions, but first thing's first--what's your name?"

... On an island. ... Training facility?
He tried to make the two things connect, but it just didn't. What was this, secret ops? Some highly secret spy training thing? It sounded stupid.
... Dream? Hell, he could barely remember ANYTHING.
... A test? Was that what all this was? Was this a prank? He just didn't know.
And then she said something again. ... His name? Jake only stared at her.
"...Jake."

Oh dear, he really did seem pretty confused, didn't he? But at least she had managed to get his name. "Jake, huh? Well...I guess there's a lot of explaining to do. But to keep it really simple..."
Eva proceeded to--to the best of her ability--explain just what it was they did here. Protecting humankind, fighting monsters, ghosts, and evil creatures of lore--frankly, it all sounded pretty ridiculous and unbelievable when said aloud. Automatically assuming that Jake would try to interject at some point and accuse her of lying or making up some kind of stupid story, she folded her arms across her chest and sighed. "You saw strange things too, didn't you? Maybe people told you that you were imagining at first, but the visions persisted. Shadows lurking beneath your bed, strange figures hiding and watching you from within the darkness..."
She let that settle in for a minute before smiling again, "Anyways, that aside, each trainee here is paired up with a weapon--their partner. You'll have to go find your partner as well." Lifting her hand, she tapped the purple-gem hairclip that kept her bangs back. "This is my partner. Her name is Chara."

To her surprise, if she HAD gone into detail, he... ok, well, he probably wouldn't of listened anyways, but he'd understand.
Monsters. Evil creatures. If he was told this stuff 2 years ago, he would of thought they were crazy. Lunatics. But no, he now knew that such a thing existed. There WERE monsters. Creatures of... what was it. FEAR? The very same creatures who had tormented his life and made it a living hell, beyond what it already was. And he was stupid. Naive. He didn't know... until it was too late. No, he knew all of this now. He understood.
He hadn't acknowledged what she had said, but when she mentioned "partner", his head snapped up. Oh HELL no. None of this "partner" crap. He had always worked alone. He always would.
"I don't NEED no stinking-"
Wait.
"... your partner is a hairclip?"

Eva began to raise her brow at him when he began to protest, only to burst out into laughter at his reaction to Chara. Holding her hand up, she raised her index finger.
"Number one, Jake, we don't work solo here. You'll die if you try to do things alone, and it's kind of mandatory for you to find your partner since he or she will serve as your weapon." Up went a second finger, "And number two...this is just Chara's unsummoned form. Rings, earrings, bracelets--different weapons have different unsummoned forms."
Taking a few steps back, the girl held her hand out in front of her. In an instant, her hairclip glowed brightly and then disappeared, just as a long, slender weapon formed between her fingers. Eva gave the bladed staff a little twirl, and then reached out to lightly bop Jake on the head with the blunt, crystal end of her weapon.
"And this is Chara's weapon form. Ready to go find your own partner? You'll need to go visit the Cove."

Jake raised his hands and looked at them. He... never really fought with weapons. Just fists. Well, there was the occasional stick and metal pipe, maybe a broken bottle here and there, but weapons felt foreign to him. It made him feel... weak, like he couldn't depend on his own skill to fend for himself.
He let his hands drop. He WAS weak. Wasn't that why he was here in the first place? He wanted to get stronger. To never lose again.
He gritted his teeth. If he needed a weapon, a... "partner", then fine. He would learn to endure it, if it could help him get what he wanted.
He flinched as Eva bopped him on the head. It didn't hurt, but it had startled him, and as he rubbed his head, he remember what he wanted to ask.
"OK, wait. What's this whole "weapon partner" thing? Aren't weapons just weapons? You make it sound like they're living things or something."
Which sounded absolutely stupid.

"Here's the thing, Jake," Eva started, and then leaned in reeeeally close again, "They are alive. They're sentient beings, and have the ability to communicate...but only with their wielder. For example, the only one who can hear Chara here is me. Got anything to say to Jake here, Chara?" She turned her gaze downwards to look at the staff expectantly.
Tell him that he'd best learn to cooperate with others soon, and that I sincerely hope that he's partnered up with someone who will be able to keep him in line.
...
"She says hi. Anyways!" Ignoring the heavy sigh that echoed through her mind, Eva reached out to take Jake's arm--ignoring any possible protests--turning him and giving him a gentle nudge in the direction he would have to go. "Go find your partner. Your first thought when you enter that place is probably going to be, 'where the hell am I supposed to look?'--" Eva lowered her voice in an attempt to mimic his for that one line, "But trust me, you'll know."
Letting Chara revert back to her hairclip form, Eva gave Jake another light push. "Anyways, good luck! If you ever find yourself with any questions, come find me or just ask another trainee." A pause. "And just a friendly tip: try to avoid meeting Caelius for as long as you can. You'll understand why when the time comes."

He leaned back as she leaned forward. This girl CLEARLY didn't know what personal space was.
He arched an eyebrow when she asked her "staff" for input. No regards for personal space, and crazy too. And then she suddenly grabbed him.
His first instinct and clear DONOTWANT on this personal space invasion made him want to yank his arm away, but she let go promptly and gave him a nudge instead. GO WHERE?
He narrowed his eyes as she mimicked him and was about to make a rude remark, but then she gave him a light push and said something about avoiding... some guy, he assumed. Was he all touchy-feely like her too? He shuddered. That, he could do without.
He was about to stalk off, but then realized he should probably thank her... or something. He hesitated, but then turned slowly.
"Uh... yah, ok. EVA, was it? Well, thanks... or whatever. I'll come find you if I have questions." He stalked off. NOPE, he was never going to look for her again.Kaiyumi Annnnnnnnnnd he's off. Thanks for rping with me! ; u ;
