Hello, everyone! I have missed seeing what everyone is doing---pinched a nerve in my neck a couple of weeks ago, so computer is pretty much out for a while, for me.
It really was a blizzard! Horizontal snow for the entire day, and I couldn't see more than 150' from the house. Husband came in from taking care of the animals in snow over his knees----distance from the floor, with the boots on, to the middle of his knees, is 23". Yesterday was bright and cold. Spent most of the day on the little porch, where the sunlight streaming through the windows kept me in a tank top for most of the day! Woke up to -8 and frozen pipes this morning, so we are melting snow for the animals. Still have plenty of everything, so we're good here, schools and businesses are all closed.
Some days it sucks to watch the news. The truck in the river on FOX news (there, I said it! hat tip to Mark Levin!) is about a ten-minute drive from my house. That stretch of road had just been reopened this morning, after being closed over 24 hrs. I really hope those people hadn't been there all that time!

Last April a company I used to book for had another company come in and cull their dog sled team. Parent company didn't realize that they would kill the dogs. And, like the scuzzy companies there are in that place, another dog sledding company put out a release about the high treatment of their dogs and how other companies should strive to be like them. And then they go and throw a fur party. rolleyes ( Meaning scantily clad women running around with stoles.) So: I wrote an angry letter today. CSA Official StatementAt Canadian Dogsled Adventures our dogs are treated like family. We have created an operation that all other companies will need to strive to meet, or exceed, the best practices that we have set as our standards. Gag me. I hate how some companies will use the downfall of other companies to preen themselves. News Article on cullI wish I was back there. I met Joey and have talked with him and worked with their company. I really hope he had no idea that the guy was going to kill the dogs. There's a YouTube on him which I haven't watched, but reading some of the excerpts of the event truly make him a monster. (Not a comparison I make lightly.)

ZOMG! home depot sells Anna apple seedlings. this is so awesome i can even express it. Annas are the only apples that can bear fruit in florida, since apples need so many hours of cold weather. the annas need so many fewer hours that they can grow here! so buying one this week!

sunsetsmile See you soon. Take care of yourselves! heart Take care of yourself! xd Seriously though, I've had pinched nerves and I know how much they suck. I wish you many happy epsom salt baths. @ Strega Mama - Nice! Here I thought almost anything would grow in Florida. You know your bees are going to love that apple tree. Our previous neighbour had bees and the sound of them on the crabapple was just lovely. I would stand under it just to hear the buzzing. The bees were friendly and did their own thing. In good news, my Ethical Funds are actually increasing in value. I honestly have really never looked at them and now I'm tickled about the "this period your investments did these wonderful things". A few years ago I went to a green exhibition and they were there. They were really happy to hear I had already been with them for a number of years (I started my RRSP's when I was 19). Poor guys must of gotten a lot of slack by the poor return, but eh, in the long run I think it'll pay off. And they gave me buttons and a note pad. In other good news, I got some new green/jasmine tea. It's tea that's been picked and then layered with jasmine blossoms for weeks to infuse and then it gets rolled up and yada yada. I think it was a slow day at the tea store. Regardless, tastes and smells great. Edit: Oh yeah, terrible dream last night was that my cat was eaten by a black snake. Woke me up and my cat is so awesome he came and snuggled with me.

heart I sent out paperless Valentines today to many of my Gaia friends. Hope you all enjoyed them, and please let me know if I missed you so I can send one.
I'm hopelessly single and otherwise don't really celebrate the holiday. This year I think I will send flower seeds to some of my friends irl with a Valentine's Day message.

I've been battling another ear infection and am once again in excruciating nonstop pain because of it. My employer just eliminated all healthcare for all employee's and cut my pay by nearly $3 an hour and then cut me to 5 hours a week...so things are a bit tough here once again. Hopefully this infection is defeated by hydrogen peroxide ear drops. Today i watched the Superbowl because the Packers made it so i had to support the home team. Need a new job...with healthcare.

I couldn't care less about Valentines Day. (Thanks grade school!) I've been in a relationship for the last umpteen years and I always tell the bf not to get me anything. He did once give me a potted plant which was awesome. It's just a stupid holiday to get the mass public in a buying frenzy.
@ Teh_plague: You need to pay money to see a doctor right? How much does it cost typically? (I know nothing of US healthcare.)
My mother in law forwarded me a bunch of stuff on hydrogen peroxide. I never knew it was so useful. I hope it works out for you.

@pirhan - typically if your just seeing your family doctor its like 100-200 for a visit. It's more if they have to do any sort of procedure. For an Ear nose and throat doctor to get my ears irrigated its 250-450 depending on the doctor. If they are to write just a prescription for ear drops it's probably like 150 bucks. I don't know i'm just using figures from the internet because i've always had insurance either through my mother (when i was a child) or my employer that covered everything i ever had to get done so i never had to pay a doctors bill.

pirhan How long is the visit typically? In and out or do they actually talk to you? When i went in with a shattered thumb it was about 25 minutes for him to look at my thumb send me down for x-ray's and hand me a splint and then i was told to take some Tylenol for the pain and it was pretty much the same for my wrist when i messed it up. When i was a kid and i had allergy shots it was in and out less than 5 minutes. I've never had a doctors visit that lasted more than 30 minutes even for something severe.

eugh. I know the feeling of not having health insurance. @.@ when I first went to college and I just lost my Childs Health Plus because I was no an adult in their eyes. I got the school insurance but barely covers anything. They don't cover check ups, dental, optical anything unless its through the school, and their so-called 'network' which they don't cover. I slipped on pavement once and went to the infirmary because I couldn't put weight on my left leg after a day or two and the insurance was like "um yeah you'll have to pay the 600 out of pocket expenses first.' I was like.....wat?!
Cracked tooth, not covered unless I got it through sports or its a real emergency. yeah...can't say it cracked while I was eating pizza. hair line cracks >(
At least I get free Ibuprofen and other over the counter drugs that I need.

today i made a root stimulator out of willow twigs and water, and took cuttings from my mom's overgrown jasmine and honeysuckle plants. hopefully this will result in viable plants to grow around the bedroom window to scent the room when the windows are open.
