L was okay, but his appearance was just not much for me. Though I love L compared to this character.

I hate Near so much.
Mikami, Mello, and Misa Misa were the high points for me. I liked Light for the first half pre-timeskip.

.....[OoC]: "A sword, 'ey? Well... cliche... but okay. Anyways. I've got a half-djinni in mind, but then there's also this idea I've got 'bout an Illusionist, a Purple Mage (Red Mage and Blue Mage attributes/skills), and an MMA-style fighter with tattoo-related abilities. Like, a tattoo sleeve comprised of tattoos that act differently in the paranormal sense when activated."

I was dissappointed that Mikami could not have had a page of Death Note in his pocket to whip out and kill Near with. Creepy-dolls kid needed to go. Also: I approve of this message.

There's no point in watching the show after L. L was the heart of the series, and Near is just outright inferior.
Mikami was there for lulz. Misa remained for lulz, but it wasn't as awesome as it was before.
The fight between Light and L was just epic. And by that I mean it failed hard, but it FELT epic because EVERYTHING in Death Note is epic.

themightyjello EVERYTHING in Death Note is epic.
This is true.
Actually I still enjoyed the show Post-L. Granted not as much, but there were still parts I liked.
Mello was a pretty good character even if only existing to support Near winning.
Nice to see someone trying a whole new approach to taking the Death Note.

Guild updates: themightyjello *Stretches.* Did some rearranging today: - Posted the GUILD INDEX thread in the Main Hub. - Unstickied ROLEPLAYING 101 and MAPPING ABILITIES in the Welcome forum. - Stickied CHARACTER DATABASE in the Welcome forum. - Unlocked ROLEPLAYING 101, MAPPING ABILITIES, and DON'T FEAR THE REAPER so that anyone with a contribution can post it. They are, after all, "words of wisdom" threads that anyone should be able to contribute to. - Unstickied the LEVIATHAN MYTHOS thread. - Added topics covered to the front of the Dispute Thread. - Deleted the PLAN BLACK thread. - Read over the rules in the LOST? thread to make sure they were properly updated. Psychofish I was dissappointed that Mikami could not have had a page of Death Note in his pocket to whip out and kill Near with. Seriously! Safety deposit box! What the hell! And how the hell did that guy just WALK IN THERE AND TAKE IT! If I were Mikami I would have put off the suicide until AFTER I sued the ******** out of that bank for letting someone just walk in there and take s**t out of my safety deposit box. I agree with the swords. They are a superior form of awesome. The only thing above that is a character built entirely around shield bashing. Anyone who disagrees is a communist.

Elevar Mello was a pretty good character even if only existing to support Near winning. Watari was still superior. Maybe he wasn't as much of a character, but he was certainly more support. Applying the Old Man template to a character with levels in Butler clearly creates some sort of TIME PARADOX in which he becomes SNAKE. Except a more powerful version. One that can win a CRAB BATTLE.

Spoiler here in white. Highlight over it to read.
I thought it was funny that L beat Light repeatedly with little to no knowledge of the "rules" that the game was being played by. Near, on the other hand, could only come out ahead through dumb luck (i.e. they just happened to catch Mikami ******** up. Had they not done that, Light would've won.) Clearly L was superior to everyone on the show for putting up a fight when Light had EVERY tactical advantage.
EDIT - Fixed. I meant Light had every tactical advantage because he knew all the rules and was 100% certain of who his opponent was.

Damnit Jello. Stop spouting such nonsense.
SNAKE. CAN NOT. WIN. A CRAB BATTLE. PERIOD. THE END.
Jesus. Get it through your skull.
Mello was refreshing in Death Note for me if only because he broke laws. /y/, /cm/, and my Quest Thread Grouping have probably corrupted my opinion too.

Additionally here is a spoiler:
[It is heavily implied that the reason Mikami did not double check the fake note and have a piece with him is because Near manipulated Mikami via the note. Thus explaining why Mikami died later in prison and killed himself in the anime. Matsuda implied it in the manga epilogue. He was told to not be concerned about it because there was no way it could be proven.]

The internets fell in love with it.
