Uhm, yes! I have. Some of the other members have introduced me to it. Though what I have heard is so diverse. It sounds much more like drawn out noise to me than anything. By analyzing what I've heard, I don't really understand what makes one sound music and another not. Its very confusing.

*Suddenly very excited*
It's very interesting you mention that! Because in my time, experts in my field are trying to figure that out as well! For instance...

*Ben leaps off of his stool, grabs it and runs over to one of the tables. He flips a chair over and puts the stool next to it.*

*He takes a moment to prepare and raps on each of the objects creating a different pitch each time. He goes around and around hitting different objects. He finishes by slamming his fists on the table creating a loud 'DUNK'*

Some people in my time consider that music, because although it was improvised, it was done to create music.

*Pausing*

Then again, I have heard quite a few artists in my time that many have considered to be making popular music.

*He looks at Cora*

Though it's popular, I still don't consider it music, by the way.

:::Cora nods, a little amused by the display. It looked like something a child would do to impress an adult, but she would give Ben a little more respect than that. After all, she was the one who didn't understand:::

Well, I suppose such contraversy is one of the reasons it was abandoned in my time. There seemed to be no use for it.

Well now, I wouldn't say that that little demonstration was good, but it's certainly not useless. If I had a piano here, I'd show you more of what I personally consider music.

*Looking around again*

You don't, do you?

:::Vaguely recalling what a piano was like from some history lessons::: Oh, uhm, no...I don't think there is a piano here. :::She takes a sip:::

What year did you say you were from again?
PostPosted: Sat Jan 22, 2005 11:28 am

I'm from the year 2004. Though it's going to be 2005 very soon. Just a few more finals away from freedom! Then I can spend Christmas and New Year's with my family.

*Thinking back*

Hopefully it won't be like the Thanksgiving fiasco!!

Ah yes...you 'celebrate' holidays by ceasing learning and productivity. :::She almost giggled::: In my time, they would consider it no respect to whatever was being celebrated to stop the normal advancement of everyday life.

:::She didn't mean to preach it, but tha was just the way she'd been raised. She didn't know what it was like to have a vacation, except of course when going to the Brink:::

Wow. The future seems so....dismal.

*He didn't mean it like that, of course. But no other words came to mind.*

Oh no! I'm sorry! I didn't mean it like that. It's just that, without music and celebration... What do you look forward to every day?

:::She looked away:::

I don't know about others...but I used to look forward to getting up and being the best I could to serve the force. But since I've learned about such things as music, and love, and wine, the only thing I look forward to when I wake up is the chance that I'll come here.

Oh wow... I'm sorry, Cora.
I had no idea this place could do something like that.
If it makes you feel better, I think that you may have gained another friend here. *smiles*

:::She smiles at him:::

Thank you, I'm honored. :::She gets up to grab a bottle of wine:::

Shall we toast?
PostPosted: Sat Jan 22, 2005 11:58 am

Sounds like a plan!

*Ben grabs two glasses and sets them down*

:::Cora pours a red wine into both glasses and takes up hers. She tried to recall if this was the first toast she had initiated on her own:::

What shall we toast to, Ben?

*Thinks for a second*
Hm... How about to new friends and new beginnings?

*Raises his glass*

To knew friends and new beginnings! :::She clinks her glass to his, and takes a sip:::

:::New friends certainly, but she had no idea just what kind of new beginnings were to come in the times not too far ahead. Deep down, she knew something was happening. Almost as though neglecting her intuition for so long caused it to spring back twice as strong. Even with everything inside her trying to tell her what would happen, she could not place her finger on the feeling... so she just smiled, and sipped her wine:::
