well, think of it like this... that mini paragraph there, the one you posted right here in the OOC? that's 126 words. so if you included 2 of those per post, then a 2 post battle is 500 words.
now, when you increase level, the number changes by only 100. so, maybe every five levels, you'd have to include another 500 word battle. keeping in mind that these pokemon also level, it should be slightly harder and harder for you to be able to finish the battle, hence the need for extra posts. take a look at my current battle for instance...
I've broken my battle into 3 posts so far. not including the pre battle words, my battle has taken 467 words.
oh, and this should be obvious, but catching the pokemon, does that null the EXP? or should we still count it in the total? it's all that's keeping me from either catching the Zigzagoon or going back to a fight.

Yes, catching a wild Pokemon does null all EXP potentially gained from the battle, no matter how long to post(s). My first fight with the Poochyena had 598 words, but I earned 0 because I caught it.

in an effort to save myself time in deleting and recreating my post, I'm gonna simply roll my dice here for this one.
I've failed my Ralts. perfect. time for using video game logic to pull me through this one.
urk... my next roll was for both sides to miss... I'm just going to save the time and delete that one...

Good ol' brother kicked me off the computer last night before I could answer everyone's questions.
@Jolon: Biggest thing that urked me about your post. YOU. DIDN'T. ROLL. THE. FREAKING. DICE. The entire point of the dice system is to force the player to elongate the posts, and to make the role-play itself more like the game; unpredictable and sometimes unpleasant in nature.
Here, let's have an example. It takes 600 words for a level 5 Pokemon to rise to level 6. If a basic, level 5 Pokemon was to use scratch or tackle without fail on another level 5 Pokemon, it would take three turns to faint the foe. That would mean at least 200 words per post in order to gain a level after one battle. If you guys are having trouble writing 200 words in one post, then I would seriously recommend going to another role-play, because honestly to any literate role-player 200 words should be nothing.
IF, Mr. Jolon, you can come up with a more efficient system, my mods and I would be more than happy to consider it and/or modify our own system.

Hey does anyone know what MOD I talk to, to tell them my Chat isn't working? :L Also is anyone else experiencing this? It says you have 0 friends, or you can't sign on without getting an OOPS 404 error.

well, meebo is the one Chat Engine I know that can work like Gaia Chat. unfortunately, I don't know who to contact for that. maybe just contact the head admin for Gaia? That's what I always do when I encounter a repetitive bug.
a huge problem I used to have was with my Ipod, when I used to do ALL of my RPing on there. the Toolbar for the Chat System never loaded correctly, and would instead be a jumble of bulleted text that covered up the textbox. hence, I could not post.
otherwize, I would suggest logging off and back onto the chat a few times, and reset it. by the by, my chat says Friends(0) as well. it's just about how many are actively in chat. if you clicked on it, it would show that people are idle...

I personally like the EXP system. words are words, and words come easy to me. I AM a bit worried it could make the way battles are written a bit bland, though. I mean, I had to use Confusion the entire way through for my Ralts... which meant creating 3 different explanations of how it works out.
however, Ralts doesn't learn another attack until... level 21, when it can learn 'Magical Leaf", that is, if it hasn't evolved by then. if she has, then I can't learn it for another level, or for another 2200 words from level 21.
so, unless I get a TM, I'm going to have to come up with about 21000 words of fights, with my only pain causing attack being confusion, provided I don't magically learn that my Ralts knows a move from being in an egg. while I can catch other pokemon, their EXP gained doesn't factor into Ralts EXP unless they faint...
now, I will admit, writing comes a bit easy for me, so I can expand out my battles, but there's only so much i can do with one power based move...

I personally have no problem at all with the system, though I PERSONALLY think that the number 100 added to the total exp every level should be lowered a bit. But that's just me~ heart w heart

XD, nooo I'm not edible! and yes, perhaps 25 more words every level afterrrr, not sure yet. Actually Ralts learns confusion at six, double team at 10, teleport at 12, lucky chant at 17, THEN Magical leaf at 21...Hmmmmm....I will move Magical Leaf at level 10. Kay?
