I know whatcha mean >< I've got a general category at the moment... I want to go into foreign languages. Like working with foreign administration or being an ambassador for a business or country. ^^;

What's the difference between Mandarin and Cantonese? surprised Which is more spoken? xd And well I guess I should learn some form of Chinese with all the businesses in Asia razz That's one of the reasons I am learning Japanese ^^

Mandarin is the Official language of China but more people outside of China that know Chinese speak Cantonese. It also depends on which part of China you go to. If you go to Northern China they tend to speak Mandarin, and some other han dialects, in the South it's more Cantonese and other dialects.
That's as much as I know. And that's coming from a Chinese background, I speak semi-fluent Mandarin even though my mum is Cantonese and my dad is Teo Cheow.

My mom's from Guang Zhou..which I would assume is south since she speaks a dialect of Cantonese. But she also knows Mandarin.
