I picked the 1st option, but for me it's a combonation of reat singing, gret rhythm, and great instrument tunes.

i really don't have a musical genre preference. if the song writing and the musicality are great, then i'm ok with it. and by musicality, i mean rhythm, production, singing, etc.

I listen to the drummer, especially. But, I can be very influenced by the singer, I mean, I absolutely HATE the Thrills because of Conor Deasy. I just can't stand his scratchy, I'm-going-to-die-at-any-second voice. It just annoys me.
But if the band can't hold a decent rhythm, I usually give up pretty fast.
Sorry, that was all a bit general, drummer and then the vocals.

In liking music I actually go for the story. Music to me must tell me a story through the voice and the music, not the words. They have to work together and imprint on me the feelings of the song. Since a lot of music I listen to involves foreign singing I can't depend on words.

I mainly look for how they sing and they lyrics they have. Lyrics are the heart of any song (well not the songs that have no words but you know what I mean). I just really hate it when people have wonderful lyrics but they can't make the connection with their singing. When you sing you act. You become the what the song represents. Some singers just can't get that.

I basically listen to music that I think sounds good. It really doesn't matter what genre it is. Like for example, I usually listen to post punk or electronic, but now, I'm listening to a lot of French music.

Not just the typical instruments but new and different sounds to make a song very musical.

For me, what music I listen to influences my mood, and my mood influences what music I listen to. For instance, if I'm mad, I like to listen to Hanzel Und Gretyl, because of the drums, guitar, vocals, and general all around mad feeling of the songs. On the other hand, if I'm just listening to music, and say, I'm listening to Piano Tribute Players' Fall Out Boy album, I'll be pretty happy, vs. if I listen to Evanescence, I'll be pretty morose. So in music, I like it to be that perfect combination of instruments that make the song beautiful and feeling. I can't stand rap because it has no feeling for me. I also can't stand screams in music unless it's artfully done. It makes the music seem a bit childish to me. The lyrics also have to be good and meaningful, not random. The lyrics have to convey a story or a mood. Again, rap doesn't do that, it's repetitive words that are hard to understand a lot of the time. And screamo is just hard to understand. But, mostly, my music taste is spread out, so long as the piece is artfully done with feeling and care.

I picked Chaotic/Improvisation/Jazzy tunes
That's pretty much what Mudvayne is. and I love Mudvayne.
But what I look for in music, a good blend of instruments and vocals. Something that has a good beat and packs a powerful punch. I hate this new 'scene' music thing, some people even call it Hardcore.
I like more nu-metal than anything. Mudvyane, Disturbed, MushroomHead, blah blah blah.
But I also like older rock and metal too. Ozzy, Pantera, AC/DC, Slayer, Faith No More, Rush, and so on.
Haha. Seriously, I don't know what I look for in music. If I like it, then I like it. enough said.

It's hard to pick out just one thing. I listen to all sorts of music, and they are all VERY different...I always listen to the beat....and the lyrics....Those two things have to connect with me somehow...

i always look for a good beat, &once i found that, i listen to the vocals and make sure it doesn't sound like crap. then make sure the lyrics aren't stupid, but yet they don't have to be amazingly amazing, but that'd be a plus if it is.

It must be heavy. I also like strong female voices with wide range preferably set or grounded in alto, something with a few odd sound (creaking doors, babies crying whispering), heavy deep bass, violins or accordians, possibly echoes, loud singing where the singer actually sound like they'd be singing very loudly even off the mic, simple guitars with little to no solos. It should have a melodic and if it really shoots high, a new or rare melody. 3nodding If anybody can recommend anything like this, do not hesitate to pm. sweatdrop
