Ny

Fysarius squawked and flapped as he tried to bat her away, but Ny was persistent in her efforts to ensure they were both well-prepared with anything new that had been gathered from the recent meeting beyond the barrier. Once he'd quieted, and had been suitably distracted from the specimen collection, Ny gave his head a little pat. She understood his enthusiasm for the lush grasses and the variety of things skittering in their depths, but if there was more to hear, they should hear it.

So they didn't, y'know, die in this bizarre place.

She folded herself up again where she sat, notching her shoulder next to his. Hm. Ny glanced from one to the next as they asked their questions. They should know to expect opposition when their goal was to come in and fire a giant comet laser. Even if most of the humans didn't know, and the enemy wasn't supposed to be any the wiser, the other group, the Order, didn't know enough of them to trust them.

She could understand that. Ny didn't think the Vanguard should trust them, either: an inefficient bunch that couldn't handle their own problems. And spending so much of their time on earth instead of guarding their actual worlds. And then failing at protecting that when their were hundreds of them.

There had better be something good in this for them if they were expending so much of their time and energy to help out.

As Cypher joined them, she tipped her head up and back to look at him. He at least seemed to be listening- Or maybe he wasn't. She couldn't tell. He had a sort of... far off look about him. Ny extended a hand up toward him, offering a spot of the tall, dense grass next to her.

As much as Yddagen understood and agreed with the need for a human guise when they went out, he was nonetheless less than enthused to shed his current visual appearance for something humans might find more palatable. Would it not be more useful to just... swoop in and ask for the resources? Would it not save them time and effort to be upfront with what they wanted and what they wanted to do with it? Would the humans more appreciate an itemized list of sorts?

He guessed, though, that that might be received less than enthusiastically by a populace used to dealing with monsters. And the last thing they needed with this venture was to make the humans think they were secretly those monsters. He supposed they needed to tread carefully lest one of them--or more--be inclined to attack first and ask questions later--or never. As many goodwill meetings as they could accomplish would probably be in their favour. Meet them early, openly, and earnestly, or at least as much as possible.

The less the humans thought they had something to hide, the better.

His eyes drifted toward Lysvi. Whether or not Lyndin thought they were silly, Yddagen did roll his eyes discreetly. Of course they would make some sort of record. If anything, it would serve as a warning--'these humans friendly, these humans pointy'.

Though, perhaps, it was less of an obvious need to the others...

Was there something he was missing?

Vaylin was practically bouncing with excitement. It was her first mission and she couldn't be more ecstatic. She had been so happy to join Vanguard, it had been such an honor. She was determined to prove her self especially since both the long lost Prince and their legendary Commodore Lyndin were so invested in this mission. She was happily helping to prepare the base camp when the Commodore called all the cadets to a meeting. She had so much energy she knew she would need to use her crystal to sleep tonight.

He reiterated the mission, she was very excited to see the Senshi and Knights. She was disappointed that some were apparently hostile to their mission. Couldn't they see the righteousness of Commodore Lyndin's plan. But that just meant that she would have to be a good ambassador of sorts if and when she came across any of them.

Vaylin nodded at the Commodore's reminder that they needed to look out for one another she looked to her comrades. Of course she would do anything to keep them and their mission safe. Not that she was concerned after all Commodore Lyndin was in charge of this operation. He could do anything, he never failed.

She couldn't understand why some of the Knights and Senshi thought the energy draining was bad. It wasn't like it wouldn't come back or like it hurt anyone plus it was benefiting the community. The energy would help the Vanguard eliminate their enemies so why wouldn't they help. It didn't make a lot of sense to her. But she also wouldn't force the issue if they wanted to be ridiculous about such a simple thing then that was fine she would just find those more cooperative.

She nodded at his warning. She wondered just how many threats were really on this planet. There was of course the Negaverse that the Prince warned about but was there more to be wary of. She personally wanted to investigate these threats but she would follow the mission parameters and avoid these threats to the best of her ability and just report them back to the higher ups.

A chance to have a real world. That was something she almost couldn't comprehend. She didn't know what having one was like she was so used to life on Velencya it was hard to imagine something different but if the Commodore said it was the best thing for there people then she believed that.

The possibility of Sailor Velenia was a fascinating one. Similar to the return of the prince she wasn't sure how she should even react if their Senshi did appear. She had never really even considered the possibility or what it would mean.

Vaylin couldn't wait to actually get out and do some real research on this planet. The planet alone was fascinating, to find a living thriving planet like this that was just soaked in power. Plus so many of the inhabitants had connections to other worlds all across the galaxy. There was so much to learn and potentially so much to accomplish here.

She listened while some of her fellow Cadets asked questions, she stayed silent preferring to just listen in and soak up the information. If others wanted to talk she was content to sit back and stay quiet.

Valnyr

Valnyr seemed to have satisfied her curiosity at this point in time and had no further questions. It was safe to say that the rest of what she could learn would come from exploration, research and unexpected experiences with their new allies. She would do her best to take care around each, even more so around the humans in 'black', but whether she would be successful remained to be seen...

Nevertheless with her queries satisfied and her orders received, the young woman gave a small boy of her head and made for the exit. She had other duties to complete and further tasks to finish before she could settle for the 'evening'. She would need to make sure she was well rested and her comtech fully charged before morning, by which time she should be ready to explore the area.

Thus, she left her fellow recruits to ask whatever questions they might have in the mean time. With tasks still to do she would make a beeline for them first, and after that, she'd find her pod and settle in.

Nessaela

When the call came from the Commodore to gather at the south field Nessaela had half a mind to ignore the summons. She had been busy in setting up the sleeping pod that she would be sharing with others and for her it had to be set up just right. It would really be the hardest thing to "live" in for the next little while if the build wasn't done just right. However as much as she wanted the shelter completed there was the fact that this was a summons from a superior officer and it would be extremely disrespectful if she did not attend. Instead of placing the next part of the shelter together Nessaela gently placed the section panel she was holding down on the ground and instead followed everyone to the instructed meeting place.

Commodore Lyndin was standing tall and proud when Nessaela passed him and she felt a swelling of genuine pride as she took her place in the crowd. There was an aura of mystery about the guests that the Commodore spoke about on the other side of the barrier and there was a thrilling moment when she could think of nothing but darting out to meet this strangers. The momentary desire was quashed though upon hearing the warning that Lyndin gave to each of them. Although these folks were against the Negaverse, it could turn out that they would be against them too if something were to happen. Ness made the distinction in her own mind that if she were to go out to gather energy that it would be best to not go on her own, no matter how tempting the thought was. She liked being the one to push boundaries but if she ended up captured or worse, killed, then what good would she be to the Vanguard. The mission needed everyone to succeed. Instead of asking her own questions of the Commodore Nessaela took the time to listen to the queries of the cadets that had come to the meeting. More than a few of her fellow cadets asked the questions that needed asking and most important, needed answers.

Making a mental note to herself to get the coordinates for the warp pad was at the top of Nessaela's "next to do" list. Already she had decided that once she was rested enough that she would be one who left the camp in search of energy. She would also need to construct her glamour that would allow her to pass among the local populace. She was taking this mission seriously and like those around her - she wanted it to see that she did her part to help the mission be a success. The longing to see Velenia rise again was a small, flickering, flame of hope that burned deep inside of her. To see that happen this mission had to succeed. There could be no other outcome. It just wasn't feasible to Nessaela that things might go wrong. She believed deeply that what the Commodore was saying would come to pass. They would observe and learn from their "allies" and figure out the secret to restore Velenia and deal a crippling blow to the enemies of Earth.

Straightening her blazer Nessaela took in the sight once more before she turned away to get back to the task she had been at before the meeting was called. She'd finish her shelter setup, download the warp pad coordinates into her wrist unit and then fashion a glamour for herself before she find sleep that evening. Time was already ticking away and there were things that needed to be done.

(( I just wanted to make a post in here instead of handwaving that Nessaela had been around.))

Fangnyl

Fangnyl intensely disliked being interrupted while he was working on something. He knew, of course, that he was going to bey the call, but when he came back to finish, he also knew he'd struggle to get back on task properly and finish his job. Sighing, he put everything in a good stopping point so nothing would break while he was gone for any reason (besides someone touching something they shouldn't), and made his way to the South Field. This was certainly going to be important, and he'd listen as well as he could manage while half his brain was trying to keep up on what he'd been doing so he didn't "lose his spot", so to speak.

As Lyndin talked, Fangnyl looked out to the blurry forms of people appearing beyond their shields. Whoa. The Senshi that survived on Earth. Okay, yeah, the irritation was suddenly out the window. The humans of Earth were just outside the shields. Caedus was actively speaking with them. Maybe their Senshi was out there, right now. A lump formed in his throat and he cleared it quietly, looking resolutely back at Lyndin. He desperately wanted to go out and explore and meet humans and the Senshi and all of that, but he was getting too emotional right now, especially for someone that was meant to be listening to his commodore speak on their mission. Mission first. Then exploring and meeting and all the other fun stuff that suddenly had his blood buzzing in his veins with excitement. The time would come.

Huh... some of the people of Earth weren't fans of the way they gathered energy? Fascinating. Even though it posed no issues? He wanted to question one of them desperately about it, now. He wanted nothing more than to ask why it mattered so much, when it caused no harm, and especially when it would fuel the very thing they needed to destroy this... "Negaverse".... Chaos... once and for all. Wasn't Chaos a terrible presence on Earth, just like the rest of the universe? Surely they wanted Earth to be saved from Chaos? For Chaos to be purged from it, and thus, the rest of the entire universe? It would restore life to so many planets, or at least let them begin the work to do so. So many questions he had about it, and yet, none would be answered any time soon, so there wasn't any point in dwelling on it, not when he was being given pertinent information about their mission to save their home planet. The one he'd never seen... These humans were so lucky and some refused to see that, with their apparent insistence that what the Valencians were doing was bad.

Gather information. Well, that was already in his plans. He'd just add what Commodore Lyndin was asking for to his growing mental list. There was just so much he desperately wanted to know already!

Make allies, stay away from the Negaverse and the Chaos agents. Easy enough, he supposed. None of this was particularly hard, he imagined. He could definitely do this.

Having what he needed, he quickly went off to return to the task he'd left before showing up to this meeting. He had no questions for the commodore; he only wanted to finish up what he was doing so he could go out and learn as much as he could about Earth.

Neryn

Okay, so Neryn beamed just a little when Lyndin looked at them. Their safety was top priority, so the first actions Neryn was to do was to use GPS and the warp pad if necessary. They could do that. As well as take on a human guise, if they had to. It wasn't great, and Neryn wasn't really about it, but if it made walking around the city easier then they'd do it. Besides, Lyndin told them to do so, and Neryn was loath to go against a direct order.

Besides, Neryn could be descrete with their energy gathering. Just because the humans didn't like it, didn't mean it wasn't necessary or safe. Besides, from what they could tell from Lyndin's reports, the humans had more than enough energy to go around. They expected so much unnecessary energy getting caught up in emotions, and petty squabbles. If they could just all work together for the greater good, maybe Metallia wouldn't have taken root here. Or they'd be better equipped for it.

Neryn could care less about the humans' opinions of the Vanguard. They were not here to take over or take their resources, they were trying to help. In fact, Neryn really didn't care about the humans at all. They had no intension of getting chummy with them, or doing frivolous activities that the humans did. Or even seeing what it was like as a human. This was a mission, and they had orders to follow. Stars above if they betrayed those orders.

A disgusted glance was given to other cadets who looked just a bit too excited about all this. Once final orders were handed out, Neryn saluted and made their way back to their tasks.

Cypher (Cy)

Although he had heard Fysarious’ question, it took perhaps an unnecessarily long moment for Cypher to glance down at his comrades.Regarded Fizz’s small smile with a rare one of his own. At least with other Velencian’s he felt more comfortable offering a measure of emotion that might make a stone wall jealous.

The closer they got to Earth, the more serious they mre Cy reined in his composure; steeling himself against the apprehension and uncertainty that threatened to overcome him. He did not want the others to know how little he could relate to their excitement; Ny, however, seemed to see through his carefully placed facade. Rather than commenting on it, she extended a hand up towards him which he accepted with an appreciative nod.

“I’d rather give the others an opportunity to have their voice heard.” While Commodore Lyndin was able to flawlessly keep up with the endless questions, Cypher thought it’d be best to see how conversations played out before rhyming in with his own. “Most of my curiosities have already been answered.” Most, but not all… any remaining ones that still lingered would likely have to wait for a time when he could speak with Lyndin one on one and seek some clarification.

“I do wonder if mistakes were made by revealing ourselves so soon. Some Senshi and Knights seem excited about His Majesty's return, however many remain rightfully wary.” The ones that remained the furthest away were who he was most cautious of. “Perhaps our first encounter should have been with the use of our ComTech; appear as one of them to first gain some trust.”

Fysarius

Fysarius didn’t think any of his curiosities had been answered. If they just wanted resources, why waste the effort of being friendly? If they just wanted to bring Caedus back, why commune with anyone else? If they were trying to purge the Galaxy of Chaos, probably best if they focused their efforts on reclaiming Velenia before butting into another world’s drama? He struggled to understand where their purpose was, beyond just following the tasks the Commodore assigned them.

He gave a little shrug. “It’s only the first night. What’s the fun in having a question if the answer is just told to you? Better to uncover it on your own. We have time.” Maybe there was something exceptionally interesting about Earth and it’s humans, and that was why they were staying so long.

He doubted it, but maybe!

“I think most of them have seen Caedus,” Fysarius said. “He doesn’t look like them, either. And it might be more jarring later, like, it could seem like a deceit if we were trying to conceal ourselves?” And it would be a lot of energy wasted that it didn’t sound like many of them were willing to give up.

But it seemed like most everyone at least knew what they should be doing. Several had already gone back to tending their chores. Fysarius’ fingers itched at the dirt where he sat. There were already a lot of things here that he wasn’t accustomed to seeing. Something buzzed near his ear. Something landed on him. Long grass fronds tickled his shin. How much if this could come home with him? He’d need a lot more jars…

“I think I’d like to look around a bit. Not-“ he gestured toward the barrier and the city behind, where some of the senshi still loitered. “-but just around here a little. Would you join us?” ‘Us’ because he knew any would stand by him.

Cydfae had heard the commotion outside the shielding. It was hard not to, if she was being honest. She had to bite her tongue so hard it almost bled when the Commodore returned. It was not her place to question, nor was it her place to opine. It was her place to do as she was told. Commodore Lyndin was a grown man. More, he was the chosen man. She went over their plan in her head once more to calm herself, but it did little. In the end, she was angry. She'd expected distrust, sure. But not outright disrespect. That, she had to admit, was hard to swallow.

The only balm was the Commodore himself, moving between his cadets and soothing them. Encouraging them. Reassuring him. It was enough, she supposed, to be able to realign her focus to her tasks. She had much to do, after all, in order to set everything in place for when it was time.

The big day as her research showed was the English expression for such a thing.

She grinned to herself despite the sour feeling in her mouth. What a quaint saying, she supposed. Something pure and almost sweet.

Something foolish.

No matter how charming the expression was, she still disliked humans. Which was, to be frank, putting it kindly. Honestly, Cydfae didn't think that the humans deserved his kindness. Or any kindness. So far they had proven themselves to be reactionary and rash creatures. In her mind, it only confirmed her questioning. What made Lyndin so certain that there was hope for this planet? For the humans? Frequently, on their way to earth, she had considered inquiring just such things. But whenever she approached the Commodore with her suggestion and he smiled at her, asking her what she needed with the voice that many considered fatherly, she thought twice. And instead, she smiled, bowed her head, and thanked him again for this opportunity. She couldn't be sure if he believed that this was what she really needed, and often she fancied that she saw suspicion in his eyes. But he just reassured her and allowed her to leave again.

Still the question nagged her. Why did Lyndin still hold out such stubborn conviction that this would work?

The answer came swiftly to her mind.

Because he is a good man. Because he is a kind man.

Commodore Lyndin was a man, first and foremost, of duty. He had been chosen for his commitment to his people and his world. For his constant and bull-headed belief that they would survive. He wanted security. He wanted peace. And if there was anything their people needed, Commodore Lyndin would work for it. Because that was who he was.

And that only made Cydfae love her commander more.

She smiled to herself, humming a tune from home, and went back about her business, placing, as always, her complete and total faith in their Commodore. Around her, cadets who rarely saw her even smile, let alone hum looked at her sideways, but she ignored them. Too full, was she, of their great and glorious purpose.

Ny

It wasn’t her business to think too hard or wonder over too much. The situation was a foreign one, but they had been trained for dealing with things off of their own world. Ny didn’t know why this merited so much more skepticism than if they’d been dealing with a planet without sentient inhabitants. It must have been the shiny, oxygen-rich atmosphere that had people so curious.

She shrugged dismissively. So long as they had all the information that was willing to be given to them, how could they ask for more?

It seemed like they maybe should center their priorities in something besides collecting big carapace sand seed pods, but it was only the first night, and Ny wasn’t especially offended by a certain someone’s enthusiasm for specific topics. As Fysarius got up to go and find more jars, she made to follow him, beckoning with a sweep of her arm fir Cyphdr to join them, if he felt inclined.

Cypher

Fysarius definitely had a point that he had only momentarily considered before posing the suggestion. It’s true, the deceit from hiding their actual identities would no doubt have a more negative impact when compared to the surprise of them showing up as is. Easier to explain that no ‘You’re not alone in this universe,’ instead of ‘We’ve been here all along'.

An offer had been made to join them and Cy was shockingly not reluctant to follow after. Both Fys and Ny were kind Cadets, inquisitive of surroundings, dutiful and intelligent in facets where Cypher held little interest. However, despite not being much of a collector of samples, Cy would do his utmost to protect them while they gathered things for research purposes; scout around the area and make sure they remained safe.

Cadet Vyn

Once a few of his fellow Cadets began to leave, Vyn thought it appropriate to do the same. He had no mission-specific questions to ask and didn’t want to take up any of the Commodore’s time with frivolous things.

(Well, he did want that, actually, but he wouldn’t let himself do so. He worked hard for his place in the Vanguard, and though he didn’t often think himself worthy of it, he still endeavored to prove that he’d earned it.)

With a final look toward Aliez, Vyn rose and shuffled off. There was much to prepare before their mission began in earnest.

He hoped they’d all find the answers they were looking for — the Commodore most of all.
