Pendour reached down and drew her hand in a line across the dirt. It felt like Earth dirt, maybe rockier but not anywhere near unrecognizable. There had been people here, too, and if there were humans all the way up here, there could maybe be something that could interbreed with tomatoes. It was a nice thought, but it was quite a stretch. "Well," she said, "No. It would depend on the genetics and even then it's a very advanced technique. At least, I think it is. I haven't really tried anything like that before. I just buy seeds." It might be worth learning more about plants if she became more of a space gardener, but for the moment she simply gave a small shrug. "You can maybe make glowing salsa with the plants you have, and it would be all bright and lovely, but I think you'd be okay at parties anyway. You glow, too, and you're a smooth talker." She squinted. Was that an insult? "I mean, I could listen to you talk for a while." It still didn't sound quite right to her, but there were more important things to talk about than hypothetical parties. Plants, mostly. She nodded at his suggestion. "I can grow some salsa plants, too. That could be fun." She could even put some in her Earth garden, for a third point of reference, a control. "I should probably see if anything native sprouts first, so I don't choke it out, but I do have some plans." She smiled with an eyebrow half quirked. "Are you busy? I can show you where to get seeds. You can get good prices now, with the season and all." She straightened and finished closing up her bag.

Aww, so it wasn't likely there was going to be any glowing salsa in the near future... Well, maybe if he figured out how to hybridize plants, but that sounded difficult, especially if Pendour, who seemed to know what she was doing when it came to gardening, didn't know how to do it and was calling it an advanced technique. He barely knew the first thing about gardening in the first place-- Still, she had a point. If he could get some memories back about what Enckeans exactly put in their dishes, maybe he could make his own glowing salsa with his own glowing plants. Or whatever other toppings they used. It seemed pretty exciting. What was even more exciting was Pendour's compliment, and he beamed at her the first time, perhaps even more the second when she tried to correct herself. He didn't take offense to 'smooth talker' even if it could be offensive in some contexts. Didn't seem intended that way in this one. "Aw, thank you! I try to be nice to talk to. I'm glad that comes across." His charisma used to come a little more naturally than it did now, but as he continued to heal, it got a little easier again. Encke popped a small dessert in his mouth before standing up, vaguely brushing some cometary dust off the back of his pants. "I don't think my partner will mind if I'm just out shopping for seeds," laughed Encke, shooting Pendour a grin. Richard would definitely rather that than having Ignacio come home bloody again-- "I'm game. Ready to get going?"

She could sit here for hours talking about space, or plants, and especially space plants, but for all of that it wasn't practical to stay forever. This was a lovely ruin, but still a ruin. Earth had grocery stores and places to buy seeds, and in Encke's case, people to go home to. "Oh," said Pendour, blinking. "I don't want to keep your true love from your," she paused to run her fingers over her braid and to chew on her words until she found something to say that tasted sweet. "Pleasant companionship." She gave a smile at that, true and bright, because that had to be the right way to say what she'd been trying to say, with no subtle connotations. Well, hopefully. That settled, she returned to the subject at hand. "There are pictures to help you find what you want quickly," she said, and her eyes flicked to the ground Quickly was not something that happened, really, with Sadie at garden centers, but she was sure Encke could get in and out with his basics before she made her rounds to see all the flowers. "The information isn't too complicated. The only thing is, the workers can't really answer questions about the growing conditions up here, but that's where I'll try to step in." She nodded when he asked if she was ready and held out her hand.

Pleasant companionship. That was a cute way to describe it. Hell, so was true love. It was true, Richard was his true love, but he tended just to go with the partner or the shortened love descriptor these days... "Trust me. I think he'd be happy to hear I was out doing something normal for once," remarked Encke, with a wink. Normal. Out at a garden center with a friend, trying to find things they could plant. Sure, finding things they could plant in alien soil, and maybe a way to isolate those things in alien soil, wasn't exactly normal, but Encke didn't have to include that part. Besides, he wasn't entirely sure if Richard really understood the whole Encke could actually go to space thing yet. Richard seemed to be processing it on some level, but the wonder he was sure he would see if Richard actually understood wasn't really there yet-- Encke took her hand and shot her another grin. "Either way, though, let's back on Earthan soil, eh?" And with that, he fished out his phone and pressed the button.
