[ - Begin Interaction for New RP Day - ]

Gannon sat in his living room, Brageet resting against his chest as he read to her, his cup of tea on the side table and a book in hand. While Brageet was dozing, she preferred to hear his voice while she slept and had asked that he read to her, so she would be comforted, knowing he was there with her. Wanting to do everything he could to oblige her, he read to her for hours, taking the day just to rest rather than to catch up on his work like he would normally do on a Free Day.

But as the morning dragged on, the rain falling heavily outside, Gannon became a bit hungry. Arising from his seat, Brageet chirping lightly in response to the movement, Gannon caressed her feathers as he walked into the kitchen area. “It's alright, darling…rest…” He soothed. With only one hand at his disposal, it took him a while to find something suitable to make for lunch, but just as he was getting ready to cook, a knock came upon the door.

Hearing a familiar voice just outside, Gannon smiled a little. It seemed that Jei had come to pay him a visit. Unlocking to door, he pulled it open and gave Jei a small smile. “Good afternoon, Jei, Moopsie…Come in, come in…” He said, ushering them inside and out of the rain. Seeing the basket, he smiled a little more, touched by the gesture. “To what do we owe the honor of this visit?” Gannon asked, closing the door. “Can I get you some tea? Maybe a snack?” He asked them both, knowing Moopsie was well aware of what he was saying.

Jei gave Gannon a cheerful smile once the door was opened and Moopsie immediately darted into his home, sniffing around his furniture curiously. "Ah? I....well, I heard about Brageet so..." He stepped in after Moopsie, quickly locating a flat surface so he could place the gift basket upon it. "The basket has some owl treats and a few comfort sweets for you. I wasn't sure what you liked soooo I got a little bit of everything from the bakery." Moopsie merely gave Gannon a small yip indicating that she didn't want anything. His house was far too interesting with unique smells so she was busy checking everything out.

"I wouldn't mind some tea, actually. What you made in your office was quite nice." Jei slipped off his shoes, tucking them neatly by the door and dug into his deep pocket for a pair of house slippers. He hated walking around barefoot so without further ado, he shoved them on his feet. Moopsie had found a pair of Gannon's boots and was shoving her face inside, attempting to worm her fuzzy body in them but was unfortunately too large. Jei found he liked the atmosphere of his colleague's home, finding it quite cozy and well lived in. He glanced around, trying not to seem rude with his own curiosity before resting his gaze upon Gannon and Brageet, his expression softening as his eyes filled with pity for the poor injured owl, "...How is she faring?"

Gannon chuckled at how quickly Moopsie came in and made herself at home – she was so cute. Her little yip of greeting made him smile. Looking up at Jei, he felt touched by the gift. “Thank you so much, Jei, that was very thoughtful of you. I was actually just going to make a snack, so this is perfect timing.” Nodding at Jei’s request for tea, he led the way into the kitchen area.

“Let see…” Pulling out the tea he’d used last time, Gannon set the kettle over the fire and let it heat up. Meanwhile, Moopsie was sticking her face into his boots, which was a very amusing sight to see. Chuckling a little, he had to wonder what she was up to. Looking at Jei as he spoke, he sighed a little but smiled softly, stroking Brageet’s feathers. “She’s still in some pain, but she’s doing well. She likes when I cradle her, so I’ve hardly set her down since the incident…”

When the kettle began to whistle, he grabbed an oven mitt and pulled it from the flame. In no time, the tea was brewing. “It’ll take time for her to heal, but she’s strong…Im just thankful that she’s alive and well.” He said with a sigh of relief. Peeking over at Moopsie, he arched a brow. “Does she do that to your boots too?” He said with a nod toward the little fox.

Jei padded after Gannon towards the kitchen, quickly picking up the gift basket on the way so they could try some of the tasty snacks. Moopsie was still busy with the court mage's boots, shoving her head inside of the other one while sniffing away. Her big floofy tail was wagging with excitement as she continued her investigation. Jei set the basket on the kitchen counter before mindfully stepping aside so he wasn't in Gannon's way. "Err....if you don't mind me asking...what happened exactly? All I heard was that there was a pillar of light and figured it may have had to do with the students considering the memo you delivered yesterday." He did feel bad for the poor injured owl but no doubt Gannon was giving her the best of care.

Part of the professor silently hoped that it was the same tea from his office. It was a nice treat that reminded him of what his mother used to brew at home. His gaze followed Gannon's and his lips quirked into an amused grin at the sight of his little fox still obsessing over the pair of boots. "Sometimes. She prefers stealing my sandals then hiding them. Moopsie must really like you." As if on cue, her ears perked up and she abandoned the boots in favor of joining the men in the kitchen. Moopsie weaved around Gannon's legs, brushing against him in a cat-like fashion. She was staring at Brageet before yipping at him .

                                                      "Is your owl okay?"

Of course Jei had no idea she was communicating with his colleague, forgetting momentarily what Gannon's raiment was. He leaned against the kitchen counter, giving him another curious look then suddenly asked, "Say...what is the Harvest Festival all about? Do you plan on attending?"

Gannon sighed a little. He didn’t know how many people should tell about what really happened in the forest, but Jei was a Professor at the Academy and it stood to reason that he should be aware of what was going on with the students and the dangers of the forest. “Well…it’s a little complicated…” From there, Gannon told Jei about Gin’s visions and the fact that Thanya had gone into the forest when she shouldn’t have. From there, Rin, Gianna, Aldaine and Sokea had all followed Gin into the woods, worried as to what was going on.

“In the end, Thanya found a mysterious object that activated and that light shot into the sky. Brageet was flying overhead looking for Gin and Thanya and she was blinded…she fell from the sky and had a rough landing.” Gently petting her feathers, he sighed. “Im just glad that she’s alright…she’ll need time to heal, but she’ll fly again.

Looking over at Moopsie as she came over to brush against his legs, he smiled a little. Hearing her questions he smiled, kneeling down to pet her lightly and show her that Brageet was alright. “She’ll be alright, Moopsie. Thank you for asking.” Brageet opened one of her eyes and chirped at Moopsie. ‘Thank you for caring…’ She said with a small upturn of her beak before closing her eyes again to rest.

Gannon pet Moopsie a few more times and then stood back up to talk to Jei. “The Autumn Harvest Festival is a yearly tradition to celebrate the harvest and the changing of the seasons. The City puts on the celebration and everyone is invited.” Sighing a little, he shook his head and frowned a little. “I don’t usually attend those types of events…I’m not comfortable in crowds, people can make me uncomfortable.” He said a bit sadly. “Besides, Brageet needs me…” He caressed Brageets feathers and looked up at Jei.

“Were you going to attend the Festival? It’s supposed to be a lot of fun…” He knew for a fact that the food would at least be good, and there would be live music and vendors selling trinkets as well.

Jei hung onto every word that came from Gannon's mouth regarding the incident, his eyes wide as he wondered why on earth the students would ignore their own safety for the sake of a vision. He winced when his colleague spoke of Brageet's fate, silently thankful that the owl survived the fall regardless. "Ahh...are the students alright? Did you figure anything out about the object? I am glad that Brageet has you to look after her...you are a very caring person, Gannon." Moopsie was delighted that the home's host had knelt down and she carefully rested her paws on his knee, sniffing at the owl and then trying to investigate his face.

The little fox gave another small sound of concern, nuzzling against Gannon's leg but seemed satisfied nonetheless. "Good! If you need help, don't be afraid to ask Jei for anything. He's stupidly naive and will give you the shirt off of his back." Of course, to Jei it sounded like she was making excited fox sounds so he just chuckled and leaned over so he could rest his chin on his hand. She was a lively creature so when Gannon straightened back up, she resumed checking out his house. This time she sniffed around the kitchen instead.

Ah, right. It wouldn't be a good idea to bring Brageet to the festival. Jei nodded with understanding, "Ahh yeah, that makes sense. I think I will check it out anyways for the sake of getting familiar with the city but I could always bring you some snacks later? So you can at least have some of the tasty food!" He smiled before huffing a little. "I was hoping I could bring you with me but Brageet is definitely much more important! Did you need me to pick up any medicine for her tomorrow?" Jei really just wanted to be as helpful as he could. Gannon was the only 'friend' he really had at the moment.

Moopsie began nipping at Jei's ankle and he glanced down with a chuckle, scooping her up and nuzzling against her auburn fur. "My little lady is getting hungry so I should probably head home soon...but I will have to take you up for tea next time. If there's anything you need, I'm just a few doors down, okay?" The professor shuffled back to the entrance of the house and switched his shoes, tucking his slippers back into his large pocket while Moopsie excitedly circled around his feet.

“Yes, thankfully Gin was able to find Thanya in time. If he hadnt…well, we would be attending a funeral tomorrow rather than a festival.” It was sad to say and think about, but it was the truth. Gin had saved the life of a student. While Gannon hated to give the Teaching Assistant a punishment for his heroic act, the group of students needed to be punished as a whole – especially since Rin and Sokea had only gone into the woods because Gin had.

Looking down at Moopsie as she spoke to him, Gannon smiled to himself, lightly shaking his head at her words. Poor Jei had no idea what his companion was saying… “Thank you for the advice, Moopsie, I will keep that in mind.” Gannon wasn’t one to ask for help often, but given Brageet’s current condition, he might just need some help from his colleague.

As he and Jei enjoyed their tea and spoke of the festival, Gannon found himself relaxing around his colleague. He hoped that he and Jei could become friends, or at least close acquaintances over time. “Well, I certainly won’t say ‘no’ to some seasonal treats from the festival, if you are willing to bring me some. I would rather enjoy that actually, thank you Jei.” Gannon said with a warm, friendly smile.

“As far as medicine goes, you don’t have to worry about that…Brageet just needs to rest.” Looking down at Moopsie, he could tell that she was wanting some attention. Sure enough, Jei could tell that Moopsie was hungry. “Thank you both for stopping by, I appreciated your company and the lovely gift basket. I’ll see you tomorrow?” He said with a warm smile and a hopeful tone.

Seeing Jei and Moopsie out the door, he wished them well, feeling much better than he had before they’d arrived. Gannon spent the rest of the afternoon and evening reading to Brageet and snacking on the tasty bits from the gift basket.

The little fox didn't want to leave Jei on his own but she was smart enough to realize she was useless in battle. The stench of blood didn't relax from her sharp senses as she dashed towards the housing district as fast as her legs could carry her, carefully darting into the bushes whenever any of the soldiers were too close for comfort. She cautiously maneuvered through the foliage, laying low and keeping quiet if she felt danger looming nearby. Despite constantly being by Jei's side, her animal instincts had never left her. Moopsie finally saw Gannon's home, her ears perking up and listening for any sounds before suddenly making a break for it.

She saw an open window and hurriedly scrambled to get on the sill, squeezing her frame through and yipping with distress once her paws landed inside of the house. “Gannon!! Brageet!” Moopsie cried their names as she began to investigate around the home for the familiar human and owl. Finally when she located them, she immediately began pawing at Gannon’s leg as her voice became urgent. “The city is under attack! There are students and Jei at the festival fighting soldiers. I saw them on this street too -- hurry and hide Brageet so she doesn’t get hurt!
” The fox began to pace around Gannon, her fur bristled and her ears on high alert as she tried to listen where the attackers were.

I can protect Brageet if you leave her here. It's not safe out there. They have arrows and strength.” Moopsie was scared for her master and the other innocent people that were getting harmed or killed.

Gannon had been enjoying a quiet afternoon when he’d heard the explosions coming from the city. It didn’t take long at all for several different animals to come to his home to report that something was happening in the city and that people were getting hurt. Brageet, concerned for everyone, had known that Gannon would be needed. She hated that she couldn’t help, but at least Gannon still could. After settling Brageet on a small pile of pillows on the bed, Gannon had moved about his room gathering a few weapons and requesting the aid of several animals from the forest – wolves to be precise. Gannon’s raiment wasn’t combat based, but he was trained to fight and if the wolves would aid him in battle, then he was thankful for the allies.

While he was still preparing, he heard a commotion coming from the kitchen area. Knife drawn, he was surprised to see and hear Moopsie scampering through the house searching for him. Sheathing his knife, he looked down as she pawed at his leg and spoke frantically. Moopsie’s concern for Brageet was especially touching, but sadly, he didn’t have time to comment on it. Kneeling down, he stroked her bristled fur to sooth her.

“It’s alright, Moopsie… I was alerted to the attack, and I’m on my way to the Academy. Brageet is safe, she’s settled in the bedroom.” He said, smiling at Moopsie’s offer to protect his beloved companion. Scooping up the little fox, Gannon cradled her against his chest and headed back into the bedroom where Brageet was resting.

“Brageet, Moopsie is here to keep you company and protect you in my absence…” He said as he took a seat on the edge of the bed and placed Moopsie on the mattress.

“Hello, Moopsie…thank you for coming.” She chirped, her eyes half lidded as she laid on her pillow. “Gannon…be safe…it is dangerous out there.”

“I will. I need to get to the Academy…I’ll be able to do more good there than fighting in the City. I’ll do all that I can from there and I’ll return as soon as I can. You two stay safe…” He pet them both before arising from the bed. With one last look, he left the room and then his home. As he stepped outside, three large wolves stepped from the forest and nodded at him.

“Thank you for coming…” That being said, he made a dash for the Academy.

When the little fox was instructed to go over to Gannon's home and place an invitation for him to join her master at the tavern, she wasn't pleased. With such horrible weather and Jei having the day off, Moopsie was honestly hoping that they would spend the day curled up on the chair in front of the toasty fireplace. She was a spoiled creature that despised cold weather and on top of that, the snow was just everywhere. Jei bid her goodbye as he began to walk away, leaving his companion at the doorstep with a small wave.

She glared as much as her limited expression would allow before darting off in the direction of Gannon's home. Thankfully the man had a small door build that was wide enough for her to squeeze into so she didn't have to spend too much time outside. Moopsie passed through her door, gave her auburn fur a good shake to get rid of excess snow then began to pad through in search of the headmaster and his delightful owl friend. It didn't take her long to locate him yet again, running up and rubbing against him in her cat-like fashion. "Good morning, Gannon and Brageet. Jei sent me over to see if you would care to join him on his day off at the Jolly Tavern. He's dumb though...I think he forgot you have to work since you are the headmaster."

Moopsie felt quite at home after the amount of time that Jei spent with the human and owl. If Gannon moved, she would follow along his side obediently while she kept speaking. "I told him you were working but he brushed it off, saying the cold weather called for some ale. Gannon had just finished with his breakfast when he heard the little pitter patter of clawed feet on the floor. Smirking to himself, he was surprised to hear Moopsie enter the house. Luckily for them both, he’d had the good sense to install the small door so she could come and go as she pleased. The moment she brushed up against his legs, he smiled warmly. “Good morning to you, Moopsie.” He said as he placed his dishes away and wiped his hands clean.

Brageet, seated on one of her many perches, chirped her greetings to Moopsie. ‘Good morning, Moopsie.’ Fluffing out her feathers a little, she shook her head and yawned, her eyes already dropping.

“He wants me to come to the Tavern? What an odd request…” Especially given that he was supposed to be working today. Sighing a little, he headed out of the kitchen and toward the living area, Moopsie at his side. He frowned, his hands on his hips. Gannon didn’t want to send Moopsie back out into the cold to deliver messages – he knew she hated the cold and snow. But he also had work to do…

“I guess I have no choice." Grabbing his cloak, he draped it over his shoulders and pulled the hood up. Walking over to Brageet’s perch, Gannon caressed her breast feathers lovingly. “I’m going to move you to the bedroom, my love… He said before offering her his forearm, which she stepped onto easily. Carrying her into the bedroom, he arranged the pillows and blankets just how she liked before settling her upon the. He then looked down at Moopsie. “Alright you…come on.” Reaching down, he picked Moopsie up into his arms and deposited her onto the bed. “You two stay out of trouble.” Gannon said with a small smirk, petting them both lightly. “I’ll be back a bit later.”

As soon as he was awake, Jei hurriedly got ready for the day. Moopsie was ignoring him for being ‘a stupid embarrassment of a human' after he told the little fox of how his plan backfired the prior day. She remained curled up on his bed as he rushed around the room getting dressed, her dark eyes watching his struggle as her tail flicked with amusement. Her human was so dumb. Jei had vented his plan to her but seeing as he didn't understand her sarcastic replies, he figured she would be up for it. It meant she could spend time with Brageet.

Once he was ready, Jei gathered up various items in a large basket with a grin. This HAD to work. He wasn't sure how Gannon celebrated Winter Solstice but it was Jei's favorite holiday and he wasn't letting anything hold him back from enjoying the time with his favorite friend. He called for his familiar and she immediately wanted to be on his shoulders so her paws wouldn't get cold from the snow. Jei chuckled, commenting how Moopsie was spoiled rotten as he left his house with the basket in hand. Minutes later he let himself into Gannon's with the spare key that had been given to him a few weeks prior.

Immediately Jei set to his task without alerting the headmaster to his presence. Moopsie was let down as he removed his shoes, hurrying to the kitchen and began to prepare a meal for the kings. Jei went on a grocery shopping spree after the tavern incident with the intent on treating Gannon to a traditional winter solstice feast. He began to prep the meat, not realizing how much of a ruckus he was making in the kitchen as he bustled around. Moopsie waited for her master's clumsiness, eyeing him in case if he dropped any scraps. The fox felt like she was ever so helpful with cleaning by eating whatever he dropped. Once he had the massive ham in the oven, Jei began to prepare Gannon some tea for when he came down to investigate. The professor hummed the entire time, carefully stepping around his curious fox as she wondered just why he was so darn happy to br cooking.

Usually her master complained if he had to do too much work. Why was he going to so much effort for another human?

Moopsie could smell a clean Gannon approaching but rather than alert her master, she merely sat on her haunches and waited. The mischievous creature wanted to see how the situation would unfold.

[ - Begin New Interaction for New RP Day - ]

While it was the Winter Solstice, a day that he usually celebrated by walking through the woods or going into town early to avoid the major crowds for the event, this year, since there wasn’t a celebration, Gannon was content with spending the day in the comfort of his own home. Waking at his normal hour, he’d fixed himself a light breakfast of tea and fruit before preparing an extra hot bath. Brageet had been content with sleeping the early morning away as she normally did, so he hadn’t disturbed her from her pillowed bed. She was still healing from her wound, but each day she felt stronger and stronger. In a week or so, they were going to see how strong her wings were and if she could begin flying again.

Settled in his bath, Gannon let out a very content sigh, relaxing almost immediately in the steaming hot water. There was nothing quite like a hot bath…How much time passed, he didn’t know, but as he soaked, he heard peculiar sounds coming from the other side of the house. Perplexed as to what or who it could be, Gannon reluctantly pulled himself from his bath to investigate. He did a quick towel dry before wrapping the cloth around his waist and stepping out into the hallway. Peeking in on Brageet, he saw that she was sound asleep, just as he’d left her.

From there, he traveled down the hall toward the living areas of his home. It was there that he smelled something unexpected – cooking meat. Had he begun cooking something and left it by accident? Moving into the kitchen, he spotted Moopsie too late to realize that no, he hadn’t forgotten about a previous task – he had guests. And he was in a towel. Coming face to face with Jei, Gannon’s eyes went wide, and he found himself blushing a deep crimson.

“J-Jei! Oh my goodness…” He’d nearly forgotten that he’d given his friend a key to his house several weeks prior! Looking down at his lack of clothing, he instinctively reached down to grip the hem of the towel to ensure that it didn’t slip. “Uhm, what a pleasant surprise…let me just, you know…clothes and such…” He said quickly and with a flustered tone before backing out of the kitchen rather quickly. Heading straight down the hall and into his bedroom, Gannon quickly shut the door behind him.

Placing his hands over his face he groaned. “Oh Gods, I’m such an idiot! He mumbled in anguish as he tried to get over his embarrassment at having been seen in his state of undress. Moving to the closet he quickly pulled out an outfit and pulled everything on – socks, underwear, undershirt, slacks, heavy sweater and fur lined slippers for indoor use. Steeling himself, Gannon made sure he looked presentable before he opened his bedroom door and headed back toward the kitchen to face Jei.

Jei was lost in his own thoughts as he kept making his favorite winter solstice dishes for them both. He was bringing the festivities to his best friend! What did his momma used to say? You can get to a man through his stomach? The professor had a huge smile as he moved on to prep the next dish, satisfied that the meat was on it's way for cooking. It would take a little while for it to get tender and juicy but during that time he could spent it convincing Gannon that he wasn't on a date with Harp the previous day.

As he was mixing a bowl of batter, Gannon's voice made him jump and he nearly dropped the whisk. "O-oh! Gannon! Good morning~" Jei turned around with a happy expression, his voice faltering when he visually drank in the sight before him.

The head master was only wearing a towel.

                                                      ONLY.

                                                      A.

                                                      TOWEL.

To Moopsie who was observing the entire situation with mirth, it looked as if her master's brain had shut off as his cheeks slowly reddened while freezing in his spot.

Jei quickly snapped out of his stupor, knowing he should be more respectful to his friend rather than staring at his beautifully chiseled chest and hot damn, those defined muscles...and slightly damp skin...and.....he turned away and began whisking his batter furiously while laughing nervously. "Y-yeah! Clothes! Um...UM....I'LL SEE YOU WHEN YOU COME BACK." He didn't realize he had raised his voice nor that it was laced with a nervous quiver as he sped up his kitchen work to distract himself. Jei would never UNSEE a towel-clad Gannon for as long as he lived. As the headmaster left to get dressed, he had moved on from the buns to furiously chopping some vegetables but his cheeks were still stained crimson.

Once again the professor failed to notice the return of Gannon. Moopsie decided to be helpful this time, seeing as the man was properly dressed so she padded towards him, curling around the headmaster's legs and gave a friendly yip. "Good morning, Gannon. Jei made coffee for you but I think he's still imagining you with only a towel." She was clearly amused as she stood on her hind legs, her front paws resting on his thigh indicating she wanted to be picked up by her second favorite human. Jei glanced over, relieved that his friend was fully clothed...but then the image of a nearly naked Gannon invaded his mind once again. Hot damn.

"Welcome back, Gannon. I..uh......I......--- Ow!" Jei startled, his distraction proving dangerous as he sliced his finger with the knife. It was deep enough that the blood was beginning to flow at a rapid pace and he began to panic. "Ahhh shoot! I'm sorry Gannon! Now I'm bleeding everywhere -- oh, where's the cloths?" He hurriedly searched the drawers, holding his bleeding finger up to hopefully stave the flow. In his rush around the kitchen, Jei managed to slip on a piece of carrot that he had dropped on the floor earlier and hit the floor with a loud crash followed by a few choice curse words. Moopsie's ears perked up and she huffed, the equivalent to displaying her never ending delight with how silly her human was.

Gannon smiled down at Moopsie as she came forward to curl around his legs. Hearing the little fox’s words, he blushed. “Oh really, you think so?” He asked with a shake of his head. He supposed that was to be expected – who wouldn’t have that image stuck in their head for a while? Reaching down, he scooped up Moopsie and placed her over his shoulders, so she could settle and get comfortable.

Looking to Jei, Gannon could tell that his friend was flustered and that was only proven when Jei started to stammer and then much to his horror, cut himself. “Jei! Are you okay?” Before Gannon could do anything to help him, Jei was scrambling around the kitchen, dripping blood everywhere while looking for a cloth to staunch the blood. “Theyre in the-“ Jei’s luck just seemed to have run out as he slipped and fell to the floor, cracking his head on the ground.

“Jei! Oh Gods, are you okay?” Rushing to his side, he knelt down and slid an arm under Jei’s shoulder to help sit him up. “Okay, one thing at a time…Lets stop your bleeding and then see if you have a concussion…” Grabbing a fresh hand towel from the drawer, he wiped the wound clean and then wrapped it up tight to help stop the flow of blood. “Hold this tight…” Gannon said before he scooped Jei up and carried him into the living area.

Setting him down on the couch, he gently felt through Jei’s hair with his fingers, looking for a telltale bump – which he did find. “Ouch…it looks like you have a good-sized lump, Jei…Stay here, don’t move.” Arising from the couch, he went back into the kitchen, grabbed another towel and then headed for the back door. Opening it up, Gannon packed snow into the towel before wrapping it up – making an improvised cold pack.

Retuning to Jei’s side, he gently placed it at the back of his head. “There we go…that should help with the swelling…” Gannon said with a small, reassuring look. “It seems that you and I have the worst luck today…” He teased lightly.
