FANTHRALL MURES Screaming and blood, mingled with the annoyance of pain was putting Fanthrall in a rather sour mood. Less loot, need to share things that he could sell for a valuable price had been less of a problem after he'd managed to be of assistance but he couldn't wait to get going. When was it ever his battle after all? "I help when can, yes. Not much help here, not my land." Fanthrall spoke, admittedly rather regretful for that. He did gratefully accept the offered water without questioning it-- Roxi was nice, she'd done a lot and currently held the majority of his trust towards the new group of people he was eager to get the hell out of there. He drank greedily as he pondered over the offer and finally nodded, he would help them alright and with that in mind, he moved to lift the crates upon the cart, careful with placing them and decisively ignoring the fuss the winged woman and the lycanoid were up to. Neither was placed in the finest categories in his head-- the woman with wings seemed far too unstable and eager to shed blood to make friends with and the lycanoid; if he was lucky he'd find an idiot who'd pay him good price to hand him in, or just another way to make his life intolerable.
During his second round of carrying items, he noticed the lycanoid up on his feet again, and his eyes narrowed at the male darkly. "Petty words," he grumbled, tone a little more toxic than it was worth, but in all fairness, he was but disapproving of the apology. He'd done his very best, been considerate enough to hide away the valuables on his cart and what did he get for it? A limp! That useless, growling, demonic, henchman-like pawn of a beast! How dare he as much as attempt to apologize. The rope stolen by the winged woman-- precisely, stolen-- would come out of someone's pockets but it'd better end up wrapped around that horrid creature.
Regardless, Fanthrall pushed through the pain and worked his way to fill the cart more, pausing briefly here and there to check his mutt of a beast and scratch it behind its ears to calm it, seeing as he too, had nearly made a run for it at the horrid sounds. Perhaps a little longer then and he was ready to get a move on. "We go now," he declared, surprisingly demanding, considering the light and friendly behavior when he'd first approached the group.
Whether or not he was joined was no longer his business at that point. Roxi he'd wait, if necessary, even have the small courtesy of not selling away her cargo at first chance but the others-- Fanthrall was uncertain if it was safe to be that close to them to begin with. Rather, it was time to focus on the rocky, dangerous path that stretched ahead and make it to the City of Twelve. A long journey yet ahead but the city had never treated him as poorly as the people found in the wildlands.
((Consider this Fanthrall's exit from this thread, for now.))

Ara✘ie The ocean is everything I want to ℬℰ... Beautiful, Mysterious, Wild, and ℱℛ ℰ ℰ.
≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ Araxie actually growled as the woman aimed her weapon at Riyak again. "How dare you accuse him. He turned because of you. The only demon I see here is you." She stood protectively in front of Riyak once more, eyes cold. Finally the woman lowered her weapon and went over to the cart. Roxi sighed and dropped her guard, but the disgust never left her face. It was pointless. The woman clearly believed she was better than the others, taking belongings, shouting orders, etc. There was nothing she could do as she watched the winged woman bound Riyak. Roxi possessed neither the energy nor the strength to do much more than fill canteens. "How about you respect people and their property?" She spat in the woman's direction, thoroughly disgusted. "And I do not take orders from the likes of you."
Araxie bit her tongue holding back many more choice words. The woman made her so angry. This whole ordeal had been her fault and she acted as if she were righteous! The nerve... After a moment of calming her temper to a simmer, she began helping Fanthrall pack up the cart, grateful that he was waiting around and still willing to help.
As the light around them began to dim, she loaded the last of the crates onto the cart, and began their journey anew. It would be long and tedious and no doubt her nerves would be shot by the time they reached the city. However, she know that the sooner they arrived, the sooner she would be rid of the wretched bird. Giving in to her prior urge at last, she lightly scratched the head of Cras, falling in step alongside the cart. ≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ ≎ (Exeunt stage left)

Lyndis de Ferdoarn "It shall be engraved upon thine soul!" ╒═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╡╞═╪═╕
Lyndis was firmly tying Riyak’s hands when the lycan asked for her name. The angel looked surprised. She never had this situation where someone would be able to ask her name. Normally she either killed any being she encounter or have left the scene before someone could. She thought for a second if she should. It was not of any importance to this person to know names. Yet, it would make things a bit easier. "Lyndis" she said reluctantly as she pulled the final knot before continuing to heal him The lycan kept asking her questions. As he asked why she was healing him as it was against the mission she claimed earlier and was putting her and the rest of the group in greater danger Lyndis looked him in the eyes before looking away. She couldn’t just admit that she felt that his transformation back then was caused by her actions, her pride wouldn’t allow that. "my mission… still stands. As Valkyrie I am to collect souls worthy to fight for the gods as well as I am to slay any evil that bears threat to the earth realm and the gods… as it is now, thine are neither" she said concentrating on her healing of his major wounds. "but if thine is so eager to seek the comfort of death then I can still grant that for tee" she said and placed the hand she wasn’t healing with on near the boy’s neck as if they had sharp claws.
"Done" the light in Lyndis’s hand vanished as she was done with the healing and the angel stood up again breathing fast and heavy. The healing had cost her quite some energy and as the fight itself already put a strain on her she had to delve into her reserves to achieve the magic now. The lycan-boy also stood up and started to apologise to the group for what he has done saying it that were the “negative qualities” he talked about earlier. Not that Lyndis knew about that as she didn’t paid much attention to what they said. She walked over to the lycan boy and laid a hand on his shoulder from behind. "walk" the angel said as she pushed the boy forward. "we have a long road till we reach the city of the twelve and not much time to reach it till the night falls" she said as she guided her captive on their way to the city. "I have many questions I wish to ask thee. So prepare to answer once we arrive" Lyndis had pulled her halberd off her back and was holding it in one hand and the end of the rope that was around Riyak in the other. She wasn’t planning on using her weapon unless it was needed, which she hoped wasn’t.

Riyak Silver
Riyak was a little shocked at Roxi's words as she stood before him defending him. She called the angel woman a demon herself for all she did, for causing him to turn. Roxi eventually left, but as she did she spat in the angel woman's direction. While Riyak didn't like them fighting, it made him feel good inside that Roxi was still on his side, that she still defended him after all that. Riyak smiled a little as the angel woman opened up a little and gave her name to Riyak, Lyndis, he almost expected her to withhold her name from him especially after that little spat with Roxi, so it made him smile to be told. "Lyndis, thats a nice name, if you'll indulge me for a moment I remember someone named Lyndis from when I was much younger, lets see... L is for life, that you live so well. Y is for young, the years that will never show. N is for name, a pleasant one indeed. D is for dream, your beacon ahead. I is for interest, you show in others. S is for smile, it gives you face value. At least thats how she described her name back then, and while you do show interest in others you haven't smiled yet, I think I'll call you Lyn for now" Riyak said, since he wasn't going to die he figured an ally was better than an enemy, so being his usual kind self was the best idea. "hmm... so I guess I'll have to try harder next time, I wasn't a threat to the earth realm that time, its why I'm still alive yes?, though I think despite your tempting offer I'll find more comfort in life than death" Riyak said semi cheerfully, as he was still in pain.
The other male had already left by the time Riyak was patched up, he assumed that the man with the antlers had taken it all the worst he had absolutely nothing to do with anything and h got dragged into the fight, Riyak felt as if any friendship with that male was severely torched now.
Riyak suddenly felt a push on his back as Lyndis ordered him forwards telling him to walk. She said that they had to make it to the city of twelve and that he would be answering questions upon their arrival. Riyak nodded he felt it fare for her, especially after his performance back there. Riyak began walking with Lyndis behind him. yet as he did he turned around and looked at Lyndis "hey rather than calling me demon, why don't you use my name, I'm Riyak, I wish we met under better circumstances" Riyak said with a small smile

Riyak Silver
Riyak had left the skaglands after resting there for awhile, his new power, from the most recent chain breaking, pounded around him like a wild animal wanting to be free, however Riyak was able to hold it in, for now. Yet everything begged the question, was all of this even worth it? Riyak looked back on a time he had all but blocked from his mind, his time being controlled and used in assassinations, all those times he killed on order, all the chaos he wrought, was it truly what he was? Riyak didn't know anymore, he had tasted his real power again a glimpse of the vast abyss of his energy and it terrified him, yet at the same time something scarier happened, he found himself wanting to feel it again, to be able to wield a power that was rightfully his. Riyak thought back to an old saying he had once heard 'absolute power corrupts absolutely' it brought to his mind the thought that if he desired his power back than he was being corrupted, but he knew that couldn't be true, how was it possible to corrupted something corrupted? Riyak knew he was corrupted from birth, that he was never supposed to be like this, he was supposed to have a loving family. Riyak slammed his fist on the ground, his aura flowed through his body he made no effort to stop it, he was breaking apart, all because he tasted power. the ground around him rumbled a little as he vented his aura into it. "WHY ME!?! I never wanted this, I just want to be NORMAL. I don't want to hurt people, why... WHY AM I LIKE THIS!" Riyak yelled before punching the ground again, causing a small crater to form around him. Riyak's display soon attracted a beast, a familiar one, Riyak recalled killing one just before he met Roxi and Lyndis, now one was nearing him again.
The beast ran at Riyak, however unlike last time Riyak didn't react, he was many times stronger than the last time he faced a similar beast. Riyak held out one hand and as the beast reached him it was stopped dead in its tracks as it met Riyaks hand. Small sparks of Riyaks aura trickled out as the beast tried to pull forwards, Riyak sighed before an orb of his aura appeared in his hand, yet as he was about to kill the monster he stopped, no matter how much he wanted to let go, no matter how much he told himself he didn't care, he did care. Riyak couldn't physically or mentally make himself stop fighting, he hated the very essence of his other self, no matter what happened he would not let it take him without a fight let alone give into to it just because he wanted to. Riyak would not become like his other self, he wouldn't kill senselessly, no more. Riyak suddenly punched the beast knocking it out, though it stayed alive, after which Riyak turned and began walking away "count yourself lucky, life doesn't give second chances often"

╔══════════════╗ Silvia Dreamweaver ╚══════════════╝Level 0 ❈ Chimera ❈ Tailor/Blacksmith
Silvia found herself wondering the wilderness of Trølei'i on her way to Rysękkę. From there she planned to head to the Naiørian Empire and eventually to Naiør City itself to see the famous waterfalls. Perhaps they'd give her inspiration for her next creation, though it was worth the trip just to see them even if they didn't. Thus far she had passed through unnoticed by outlaws and bandits thanks to her gifts as a spider chimera. She had a talent for avoiding notice or making quick escapes if required, though there had certainly been a few close calls. However it was currently getting close to dusk so she would need to find a place to camp for the evening.

「 Leorio Auburn 」 If you got food and a warm heart, you can't be all that bad /|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\ Leorio looked about as he tried to find signs of which way to head, "Hey, you awake?" He asked the limp body over his shoulder. "He better not have passed out again." He wasn't worried for the man's health, but hiring a guide was too much effort and fortunately for him this foolish man tried to steal his food one night on his travels. "What a shame.. Ah well, can't let good meat go to waste!" "No no no no! I'm awake! Alright! Don't eat me! Please!" The man violently squirmed in Leorios tight grasp "Aww. I was getting hungry tho." A hearty chuckle escaped his lips after. "Hey! Stop moving." The man instantly stopped, realising that if his previous attempts to escape hadn't worked, now would be no different. "So is this it? The place I can make money? It looks kinda... Empty." He took a moment to survey the harsh landscape around him once more, "People live in a wasteland like this? Talk about stubborn." "Hmm.. No, this is just the Spire of The Skag." "EEEHHHH!! More walk huh?" Letting out a long sigh he continued trudging along.
"Sooo.. Umm. You're really gonna let me go when we reach The Coliseum?" Grabbing the back of the mans shirt to lift him as tho he were a cub, Leorio brought him face to face, "You're a bandit right?" "Yeh.." Tilting his head in confusion he went on. "But your not wanted." "Nope." The man seemed to beam at this as though it were som kind of accomplishment. "So what exactly do I gain from keeping you when I reach my destination?" The man appeared shocked at the simple conclusion, "None.. I ju- just. Wanted to be sure." He was still clearly scared of Leorio and turned his head away the moment he decided the conversation had ended. Using his left hand Leorio made the man look at him once more, a huge grin spread across his face as his eyes began to narrow, "Let's hope I'm not hungry when that time comes." Before the man had a chance to respond he was placed back over Leorios shoulders, "Now then.. I wonder what the fastest route to The Coliseum is?" "Follow the path through those mountains." Was the mans quick response as he shivered in fear. "Hey, stop that. A man shouldn't fear his death but rather embrace it. But more than that.." These words seemed to be enough to calm his 'guide' once more. "It tickled." \|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/ OOC: I have no idea what I'm doing xD

The spires were always teeming with bandits. every traveler knew that. Everyone knew that to go into the Spireland was putting yourself in danger of thievery, or worse. Even so, there were always travelers; Merchants and Soldiers and Farmers, all more willing to give up their belongings than to die. Everyone feared death, no matter who they were...
Drefan knew this simple fact, perhaps more so than anyone else. He had seen it. He had been the face of death, and seen the blood run from their faces as their fate was laid before them. Drefan had been the reaper more times than he could count. He looked every bit the part as he stood atop one of the stone outgrowths, high above the valley, where he could keep a keen eye on the sands below. The wind whipped at him, tugging at his clothing, as well as his hair.
His garb was simple; practical clothing for a practical man. He wore simple cotton shirt and pants, under a set of boiled leather armor, painted flat black as well. His only true decoration came in the form of raven feathers, which adorned his shoulders and hair. His hair was deep black, and tied back behind his head. He wore three knives at each hip, as well as a knife up each sleeve, one in each boot, and a pair of short swords at his back.
Drefan had been here for a few months, travelling south out of Rysekke. He had heard that it was a hotbed of Raiders, and had come looking to get in on the action. While the Raiders stole from the People, Drefan would hunt the Raiders. Every Raider he left lifeless behind him was one less dead family, one less stolen shipment, one less pain in the neck of the people of Rysekke.

In the early mornings was when the world was the stillest. Nocturnal animals returned to their homes and birds were still slumbering peacefully. Here in the Skaglands it was amazing how ones perceived silence became loud if one only listened. The short piercing whistle of a Skag Warbler made him pause in rolling up his bed roll, silver-flecked gray eyes darting to the sky to pinpoint the bird. Unable to locate the source he shrugged it off and continued about his business. It was a little before dawn and the chill of the night was still lingering. Rekindling his fire was not necessary however and would likely only attract the attention he had dutifully avoided during the night. There had been warnings of bandits in this area and proper precautions had to be taken. As much as he itched for them to try something he knew he had to make his way through the spires without the hassle.
There were other rumors that he was more interested in. The Coliseum ones in particular. Events like those tended to generate a heavy need for people like himself. With his last job turning to slimy for his tastes he was on the market again. The coins in his possession weren't likely to get him to far without a source of steady pay. Which is why he had turned himself toward the City of Twelve. Ideally he'd arrive there before the event was over and find some well off benefactor who wished to win, but didn't have the stones to do it themselves. Or perhaps he'd find a seedy sort that would want him to throw the fight so they could advance easily. If he was lucky he would just find someone who needed protection just long enough to compete. Whatever he found there he knew it would likely be short but well rewarded work that could potentially expand itself to a more permanent fashion.
Shaking those thoughts out of his head he focused on the more pressing need to get moving. The bed roll sat easily on top of his bag and he strapped it down with the heavy leather ties to hold it in place. Breakfast was unappealing but he made due with the dried meat and flat almost rock hard 'bread' he had gotten used to on the road. These he ate only after his bag was on his shoulders and he had turned his booted feet to the path he had been following. There was a hope that he wouldn't run into anyone else out here and yet a curiosity as to whether there even was any others. Travelers avoided the Skaglands unless they were in a large, well defended group. To him it seemed foolish, being a large target only made it easier to be seen, and more profitable for the bandits. It was like posting a huge mark on oneself and expecting not to be bothered. The best way to travel here was to look as if you had nothing and hope the bandits weren't desperate.
It took only a moment of his boots crunching on the mix of rock and dirt for a soft mewing to reach his ears. Looking down he sighed at the little face looking up at him plaintively. "Y'shouln'a followed me then." To which he received another plaintive mew, the little striped tabby rubbing about his legs. Huffing a little he squatted down to pick up the young cat, straightening and putting the cat on his left shoulder. The diminutive feline seemed happy there, settling in half on his bag and half on his shoulder. Its little head nudged at Tarak's cheek as he grumbled at the gesture. "Don' get usedta it, You'll be stayin' in the city." As many times as he said this the little animal had yet to stay anywhere that wasn't with him. Honestly he wasn't even sure what the animal saw in him, but he secretly enjoyed having the little fur ball with him. Gave him company and something to talk to that wasn't himself.
Now all settled Tarak continued on his way, checking the rather crude map he'd been given to be sure he was generally headed the correct direction. The Skagland were a large wasteland and getting lost was generally not in ones good fortune. Even having been raised in the Skaglands, granted much further north and more of a border town than anything, had never seen all of its lands. Harsh and barely livable it was not generally bothered by those looking to pillage the more well-to-do places of the world. Living hand to mouth had likely been what drove the bandits to steal from travelers originally and had just blown into becoming their entire way of life. It seemed to be the Skagland way, a survival of the fittest and most resilient.
At around noon he heard voices and had slowed his steps to try and pinpoint where it was coming from. Thankfully it appeared that the two distinct voices were behind him a ways and he wondered if it was worth it to stop and travel with them. On the downside he'd be traveling with others. On the upside it was only two and it wasn't likely they were bandits if he could hear them approaching. Plus they may have an actual idea of where the Coliseum and the city were rather than his pitiful excuse for a 'map'. Slowing his gait he walked backwards for a few moments, time ticking by until he could see the outline of the two. It looked to be chimera, the faint outlines of his being marked him as perhaps a lion? The other was on the others shoulder and he wasn't quite sure what to make of that. A hostage perhaps? Whatever it was it wasn't his business. All he wanted was a general idea about the right direction to go from here.
Deciding that was the smarter decision he came to a halt and allowed them to get closer. It was always stressful meeting new people, but he had found that chimeras were much nicer and seemed to not mind his being half-orc nearly as much as others. Whatever the reason for it he was grateful to have a place he was stared at. It had been easy to overhear talk of the Coliseum and it seemed prudent to stop and ask them. From the little bit he'd overheard the man the lion chimera had was a bandit, so it was likely he knew this area well enough to be a good guide. Awkwardly he waited for them to get close enough to see him and be able to talk without shouting. "Overheard your heading to the Coliseum...headed that way myself. Your...guide....seems a bit more accurate than the map I was given."

「 Leorio Auburn 」 If you got food and a warm heart, you can't be all that bad /|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\ The figure further up the path seemed to slow its pace until it came to a stop, "A trap?" Whatever there reason for stopping was Leorio didn't have much of a choice but to continue walking. His supplies were getting awfully low and wildlife seemed few and far between in this harsh landscape, definitely not the right conditions to attempt another route to the city. As he approached the figure he placed his left hand in his pocket, grabbing hold of his knuckle duster just in case they wished to spicy up his day. A cool breeze whipped by him towards the mountains on his right, his mane only slightly swaying as it went by, "Not gonna be able to smell an ambush from that side, great." The location wouldn't be a hindrance to his style of combat, a lot of open space mixed with varying elevations, if anything it was advantageous for him.
As the figure came into view it appeared to be some sort of humanoid, "Too big for an elf or human.. But a little too small for an orc. A half-breed maybe?" He knew to be careful with his words, not many preferred to be addressed as 'half-breed'. The half-orc showed no initial hostile intent and so Leorios grasp loosened around the cold metallic knuckle duster, but not so much as to be unprepared should their intent change. As he advanced on the half-orc he wondered what to say, if anything at all, fortunately for him they chose to speak first. "You know it's rude to listen in to others conversation." He remained calm his face void of any intentions, he raised his right arm using his thumb to point at his acquisition, "You should really get yourself one of these." Eventually a smile crept along his face, "You can use mine!" Realising that this was the best chance to escape the man began to shout out in panic. "Help me! I'll show how to get to The City! He's gonna eat me! We can take him together!" The man on his shoulder began to struggle again, filled with a new hope that he may be able to escape in the confusion of battle. Leorios face went blank as he brought his arm down to hold the man his prey not breaking eye contact with the half-orc, purposely allowing him to gauge Leorio wouldn't be easy to take even with a companion. "So what's it gonna be? Walk with me and my guide? Or.. Give me a chance to stretch my muscles." A psychopathic expression stretched across his face at the last part of his sentence, almost as if a part of him was hoping the half-orc would choose the latter. \|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/ OOC: Yay, other pepole!

In hindsight stopping dead to wait for a stranger had truly been an awful idea. As the other got closer and he realized the lion chimera was a good foot taller than him he couldn't help but wonder about his life choices. If this person chose not to be friendly then he would have a hell of a fight ahead of him. Thankfully there was enough space here that he wouldn't get trapped and he'd have to hope he was faster than his larger opponent. It all lay in whether or not the other thought he was an adversary or not. Tarak tried to look as if he didn't want trouble but his natural features seemed to always put people on edge. Orcs were not known for being friendly as he had heard and that generally worked against him. Cautiously he stood his ground as they finally came close enough for words and he was chastised for listening in.
"It is a bad habit, I apologize." It had been a bit easy, what the wind was coming this way and their voices carrying. It had certainly made him more at ease to hear that only one of the pair was a bandit. Get himself a bandit? Well unlike the chimera he was already carrying something on his shoulder and finding a bandit would put him behind schedule. Speaking of his passenger he realized the cat had moved to hide behind his neck and head, perched on the back of his pack now. Its little head peered around at the strangers in curiosity but fully expecting Tarak to protect it if they weren't friendly. Cats. Honestly he should have put his foot down in the village they had gone through and had someone keep the small creature. This trip wasn't kind to most and he was running a little thin on supplies to be feeding an extra mouth.
When the lion chimera smiled he relaxed a little more, glad to see he wasn't entirely interested in a fight either. When the bandit started struggling and asking his help he almost snorted. The man would be little help in a fight and he was entirely certain he would run the first chance he had. To show he had no intention he put both hands up, near his shoulders and shook his head. "I will walk with you and your guide, I have no intention on testing how capable you are friend." Besides bandits were ridiculously hard to wrangle. If his new travel companion had a good hold on him who was he to try and remove him? Doing this the peaceful way got him to the Coliseum without having to put in extra effort. Relaxing again he let his hands fall back to his sides, simply grateful he would now have a way to the city without getting lost.

「 Leorio Auburn 」 If you got food and a warm heart, you can't be all that bad /|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\--/|\ Yet another smile spread across Leorios face, "Glad to hear it." He patted the bandit on the back and they stopped squirming. Moving closer to the half-orc he released his grasp of the knuckle dusters, letting their cold rigid shape slip through his hand. He raised an arm for a hand shake, "Name's Leorio. Nodding his head at the lump of a man on his shoulder, "This guy refuses to tell me how much further we got, but I doubt it'll take much more, he's gettin' ever more keen to get away. Aren't you?" The bandit relaxed his body as best as he could, "Shut it." Once he got the name of his new companion he would offer a finger to the cat on the half-orcs backpack, allowing it to know his scent, "And who's this cutey?" Waiting for an answer he would smirk, "Got a soft spot for cats huh? I prefer 'em a little bigger." Not even waiting for a reply he started walking. He left time for his companion to respond should he want, "So you here for the tournament?"
"Hey orc. Gimme that map a sec. Don't worry about me doing anything, not really in a position to." Should the half-orc hand over the map the bandit would hum while reviewing it, "Talk about a crappy map. We're going the right way, but we can cut through the mountains further ahead, should safe us some time." Handing the map back the bandit settled himself once more. As they continued the bandit would eventually fall asleep, "Tsck! I hope you don't mind staying up at night." Was his half joking response showing this was not the first time the bandit took advantage of Leorios sleeping pattern. His face returned to it's natural stern self "Don't worry, if he'll wake before we reach the next turning point. Just leaves you feeling pretty anxious and unsure about yourself." His words echoed the great expanse of emptiness that surrounded them, the only break were sharp jagged mountains rising into the sky, almost like the land itself was reaching out asking for someone to save it. The occasional sounds of wildlife that did accompanied it only went to aid in it's surrealism, furthering the bleakness that came from the awe inspiring silence. "Breath taking isn't it?" Looking around you could see for miles, should a mountain not block your view, but the knowledge that any outcropping could be holding a group of bandits never gave you a chance to feel alone. "An entire nation built around this lifestyle, forming a culture that almost requires it... Must take a toll on your mind over time." \|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/--\|/ OOC: Turns out conversations are hard to do in this format xD

It was slightly amusing that the bandit had thought he, of all people, would 'rescue' him. This world was hardly kind to less fortunate and it was a lesson this bandit apparently needed to learn again. Or perhaps for the first time? It didn't matter to him. When the hand came away and toward him he was relieved. There had been a sneaking suspicion that the lion chimeras weapon of choice lay in that pocket of his. Leorio, he learned, and the bandit remained nameless which was probably for the best. "A pleasure. I'm Tarak. And no, I believe we are relatively close to our destination." Even with his terrible excuse for a map he knew they had to be fast approaching the city. The Skaglands were large, sure, but not endless.
The cat, for its own curiosity sniffed at Leorio and then brushed against the offered finger. Tarak snorted a little. "Scamp." He hadn't admitted to naming the cat to himself, but given the opportunity he knew what he'd name the cat. "Despite my attempts to leave her behind she finds her way to me." It had been impossible to just leave her somewhere and assume she would stay. Time after time he would leave a place and his first night of rest he'd find her trotting up to his camp, tail twitching with excitement. This had persisted for a few months now and he had all but given up trying to ditch the small animal and just put up with her company. Honestly he'd become so accustomed to her that he always anticipated her arrival to the point of putting food and water down for her.
"In a sense, yes." The tournament was his destination but he was more looking for work from the victor. Hell he would take work from anyone willing to pay, it just seemed more likely that the victor would need his services. The bandit wanted his map. With a shrug he pulled it free and handed it to the man, knowing he would likely not need it again if this one was leading them. The map was indeed the worst he'd ever gotten, but it had been free and had gotten him this far. "Eh?" Tipping his head slightly at the chimeras statement. Stay up at night? Ah, possibly the bandit. Man seemed like he would take any and all opportunities to take off. For him it was likely the only way he had managed to survive out here so long. Unfortunately for him his common sense hadn't told him not to mess with this lion chimera.
Funny that Tarak had been musing on the same topic only this morning. "The land offers not much else for these people." The land grew hardly anything, the rain came fitfully if at all, leaving the rocks and dirt dry and crunchy as it was now. Land animals were tougher if there were any. Water harder to find. It didn't surprise him that the people here lived like vultures. "Their main trade is all that sustains the cities it does have. It breeds a society desperate to survive in an environment that doesn't allow for much." In all honesty he did feel for the people here, for they were here for one reason or another. There were survivors here, however, a strong people. Even the monks he had lived with had been a strong people out of necessity.
