Zahra

Zahra felt the brush of something warm and fluttering against her own magic, vibrant and shifting like dappled sunlight on water. A like-minded soul, though timid and unsteady. The tenderness of the Audino’s Heal Pulse was clear, and in her mind Zahra could almost see the way that gold and cyan swirled into the vibrant green that lit up against her eyelids.

After they had finished, it was all she could do to frown in helpless concern for the young Ditto as he cried. He was smiling as he fought to clear the thickness from his voice, and she fought back a smile of her own as he thanked them more than once.

The back of her mind felt somewhat fuzzy, and her shoulders ached from the early onset of exhaustion. The Ditto noticed this, too, and she blinked in surprise as he lifted her delicate hand in his own. A ripple of turquoise answered the fading aura of white. It swirled at their fingertips and cast a soft glow of blue against her now-dusty white feathers. It reminded her of the sky, the thought coming with the flooding emotions of peace and comfort that came with a burst of such magic.

He was clever for his age, to average out their strengths in such a way. She rolled her shoulders as he released her hand, and she dipped her head in silent gratitude for the returned favor. ”It does,” she assured him after a moment’s hesitation.

She listened to the strategy of the others, quiet but for a soft chirp of approval at the idea of splitting into groups. A Sableye on his own was not any more threatening than any other Pokemon. It was the explosives he was carrying that made their situation dangerous, and that could kill from near to any point in the tower. The Ditto gestured for her to join the Meowstic. Psychics would be weak to the Sableye’s abilities, if he used them, but they were invaluable now that they had to divide themselves. As a Fairy-type, she could at least attempt to protect him. ”I’ll go with him,” she agreed heartily, her fingertips thrumming with borrowed energy.

The Togetic stepped back to rejoin the Meowstic, meeting his dark eyes with her own to acknowledge him. A tugging sensation pulled at her mind and stomach, and Zahra twisted back around to see the Ditto- now Clefable- standing with a single arm outstretched. His short index finger glowed with energy, and the Clefable’s expression was tense with determination.

”Ah,” she managed. ”That’s probably for the best, isn’t it?” She looked to Viann, as though to gauge his acceptance of the idea. She had a feeling he wouldn’t appreciate having her draw the Sableye’s attention, given his protective instincts so far, but it made more sense for him to be under guard. "I'll guard your life with mine," she told him firmly. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that."

She, too, extended a hand. Her palm faced forward as she tipped her fingers to the ceiling and a spark of energy merged into a brilliant glow. Like Air’s, it faded quickly. ’Follow Me indeed.’

Zahra shifted her stance, arm still outstretched as the tower shifted and groaned underfoot. The rumbling of breaking stone and the crash of fallen blocks would have been enough to explain the situation, even had they not been privy to listening to the third explosion of the day. Her willful expression morphed into a glare of defiance as she headed for the interior stairwell, already a step ahead of the Meowstic she’d been partnered to.

Venari
Ty

The blast had almost completely blown Air apart. It was more than a simple injury. It had been strange before, to put it mildly, to see a creature seemingly liquify itself and then splatter against the floor. But what came not shortly after wasn't something so simple as plainly being strange or disconcerting, rather what came after was plainly horrifying to anyone of good sense. Its entire body shook violently as the splattered bits came to life and snaked across the floor. Its body churned in on itself as piece after piece rejoined the whole, rose as it tried to and then collapsed back into itself. Its voice rippled lightly through its body, having been dampened by its own uncertainty and exhaustion. It wasn't bone, blood, flesh or sinew. The creature in front of Ty was something distinctly alien that drew itself in and rebuilt itself from having been tossed across the ground. It was something formless and living, but at the same time it was anathema to everything that life seemed to hold true to itself. It wasn't some mythical beast that lived its life steeped in an element and looked the part, no, this was something aberrant.

Ty was, justifiably, uncomfortable. He stepped back, perhaps a bit too quickly, when Air rose and shifted. He bore no ill will to Air, no hatred for his being or his actions, just a simple understanding that Air was something that likely wasn't supposed to be. It was stunningly so. He barely paid any attention to what was being said; he caught the edges of it, the idea, and he agreed. So he did just about the only thing he could do to himself. He slapped his cheeks and he set aside the thoughts, the stress and the faint inklings of fear. A man didn't have time for that kind of thing, not when there was someone that needed to be stopped. He would focus on that, be forceful and just a little angry.

None of what had happened mattered. Salem was an a** and Air was insane. But the Sableye had to be stopped and while Ty didn't have the mind for strategy that Salem did he came to exactly the same conclusion. Rush the bottom of the tower and then climb it as quickly as possible while looking for the enemy. Fighting was about beating your opponent, but in that same sense it was also about getting an advantage. Pushing your foe into a corner. If they took the only exit, then the Sableye would be cornered and there was only one way for things to go after that.

So it didn't really matter what Salem had said, or who had chosen to join who. It didn't matter what parts of the conversation he had missed, or anything like that. There was exactly one thing for him to do, after all; Ty took off in the direction of the stairs and raced past Zahra, calling back "I'll see you at the bottom! as he went.

Ty, of course, didn't know what Teleport was.

Viann's paw rose to his chin thoughtfully as the discussion unfolded, pondering the conditions silently. It was.. probably for the best honestly. They would cover more ground, they'd be able to focus on each other far better, and they'd be in contact regardless. The Meowstic's attention rose to meet the now-Clefable as he spoke, his words making the Psychic's concerns run dry. Using himself as a distraction. It was crazy, but it'd be incredibly helpful.
His thoughts on the matter... changed slightly when Zahra too reached the same conclusion. He debated telling her 'don't worry about it', that they'd be fine, but the sudden vibrations of the tower had other plans.
His small form tensed as Paper's did and the duo met eyes before their gazes shifted about the room uneasily, confirming fears. There were more bombs, of course there were more bombs.
Her eyes met Air's as he spoke, catching sight of the Gardevoir as he ran to the railing and leaned over to find the source of the explosion in her peripheral as she did and nodded firmly. "I-I'll go with you guys." Her answer was far more sudden than intended, but it was true, they couldn't waste time anymore.

"Well! Enough sitting around then. Three and three it is." Salem stepped back from the rail as he spoke, his deductions made. The Sableye must have been close to the explosion if they were remote actions. Which meant it was time to leave- now. He'd give no further warning before he vanished with Air and Paper, his teleport flaring with a soft amber glow left behind to fade. They'd go to the bottom, but first, the rooms surrounding the most recent explosion.
Viann on the other hand glanced back at Zahra as she rejoined his side and nodded. Though they were crippled on their own, with or without Paper. They had no vanguard, no force to push them forward. "Then--" And Ty went running before them. The Meowstic was momentarily stunned by the rash action, just... taking off alone. The feline snapped around quickly, reaching out to grab Ty's arm in passing. "What do you think you're doin'?! You're gonna get yourself killed. If another bomb goes off on the stairs, you're dead." End of the line, it's over. Explosions weren't hand to hand fights, they killed suddenly and without remorse. "We gotta move slow and carefully. We dunno if we can trigger them. Why run to the bottom anyway if they're there right now?" The psychic pointed to their non-existent party before releasing the Pancham and dropping his arm with a frown. "We dunno where the Sableye is. He's watching us now for all we know."

Round One

Goal: Find the Sableye! He has to be here somewhere, right? Better look closely if you want to find him, and look fast before more of those bombs go off.

How it Works: Each time you reach a new floor I will describe it, and provide you with any notable locations and Pokemon there. It's your job to fill in the details and explain how your characters interact with their setting--where they look, who they talk to, etc. Essentially, I provide the skeleton, you and your characters make the scene. Simply write up your post, then state in OOC at the end what specific part of the scene your character is interacting with. I will follow this up with a comment at the end of your post stating what your character finds (if anything), and you will use this information to help craft your next post. Aside from the Sableye and bomb locations, you're free to interact with any other Pokemon you encounter in the tower for the purpose of your posts (you're also free to ignore them entirely or not have them play any role in your explorations) and I will follow up with a post detailing their response to whatever you ask or tell them. You may gain some useful information from them if you try! Also it might be good to make sure nobody explodes, but what do I know~
Happy hunting~

Salem & Air & Paper are on Floor 6

An unremarkable cluster of offices fills this floor. There is a hole in the wall where a bomb disconnected the iron stairs from the side of the tower. There are ten offices in total, each of which belongs to a Pokemon who works for the tower's mechanical department. A Pawniard and a Monferno are near the hole. A Carracosta, Whimsicott, and Heliolisk can be found as well, each in a different office. There is a connection to the stairwell, where you can progress to the 5th or 7th floor on foot.

Viann & Zahra & Ty are on Floor 15

The sightseeing deck. There is a hole in the wall where the Sableye disappeared. There is a ledge where the staircase leading around the tower used to connect. There is a security room to the left of the doorway leading inside the tower. There is a ladder in the security room which leads up to the rooftop. There is a connection to the stairwell, where you can progress to the 14th floor on foot. There are no additional Pokemon on this floor.

Air

Air was pleased with himself for his ingenuity, at least until he felt the pull of a too-familiar energy that drew his gaze to the Togetic. The Ditto-Clefable frowned, and he felt his heartbeat quicken out of fear for the bird's sake. If she were evolved it would be a different story, but she was still young and somewhat frail to be shouldering that kind damage on her own, especially after depleting her strength for his sake. It was better than the Meowstic having to deal with the damage a Sableye could do, certainly, but it was far from ideal. Still, there was no time for him to discourage it. After the explosion happened it was clear that the time for planning was over, and, after he gave his brief instructions to the Audino and Pancham and the former readily volunteered to join them, they were gone and there was no turning back.

There was a familiar rushing sensation, and Air was surprised by the unexpected peculiarity of not being the origin of the Teleport as they went. His vision swam amber for a moment and then his gaze focused again on their new surroundings. Their new, very exposed surroundings. "Whoa!" The Ditto-Clefable took a number of steps back from where he'd reappeared, nearly on the edge of a hole in the wall that opened up to a sudden drop down the tower. They were closer to the bottom now, but there were certainly several stories left before they would get there. As he willed his heartbeat to slow, Air looked around and found Salem and Paper nearby, as well as a rather surprised-looking Pawniard and Monferno, standing to the side of the hole as well.

"First a bloody explosion and now this." The Monferno on the right shook his head, crossing his arms over his chest as his tail flicked in irritation. "They sent you to check on this mess?" he remarked, raising an eyebrow at Salem. "Aren't you s'posed to be some kind of big shot?"

The Pawniard beside the Fire Type looked a bit more nervous at the sight of the Gardevoir, eyes darting between the pair as he tapped the tips of his blades together. "Ah, what he means is we were doing our best to look into the issue ourselves." The smaller Dual Type looked down sheepishly. "But we didn't get very far," he admitted. You got here quick."

Feeling a bit more sure-footed now, Air stepped forward to peer over the edge of the hole, unsure how best to address the issue of the other Pokemon present and so choosing to not address it at all. *This hole was bigger than the other one--about as tall as the Gardevoir--and, looking through it, the Ditto-Clefable found that it was pretty far down, certainly not a distance anyone would want to fall. At the bottom lay the mangled metal and bits of stone that once comprised the part of the stairs that had been connected to the wall here. Air peered to either side, taking in the size of the gap, eyes glowing a faint turquoise as he sought any sign of the yellow aura nearby. He came up with nothing and drew back with a frown on his face, turning to give the office itself a good once-over for aura traces. Once again he came up short, and promptly attempted to catch either of his companions' eyes, shaking his head when he got the attention of one or the other. "I don't think he--" Air hesitated, glancing at the Pawniard and Monferno uncertainly. Was it okay to talk about this stuff in front of random Pokemon who worked here? "I think this was a remote detonation." That was clear enough, right?

((Sample OOC Remarks:

Darky the Chapter Participant Writes: Air is examining the hole caused by the bomb.

Darky the Chapter Mod Writes: When examining the hole, Air discovers that it is much larger than the other explosion, and that there are no signs of any bomb fragments to be seen anywhere in the room. He also learns that parts of the wall and stairs have fallen to the ground outside, suggesting that this bomb was planted inside the room rather than outside on the stairs. There is no indication that the Sableye was present in the immediate area of the hole at any recent time.

For the purposes of clarity and demonstration, I've included both Air's investigation and follow-up in this post, but any of the writing that occurs after the asterisk * in this post should actually be a part of the post after this one, because it is a reaction to the information given in the mod response.))

((A closing comment, because we're split into groups of three and two now, it might get a little confusing. I don't mind either way but if you'd like to make separate threads for the two parts we could. Let me know on chat or in the OOC thread. Or just go ahead and make them and I'll keep track of both--either way works. Let me know if there are any other questions too!))

Paper -- Salem

Salem greeted Air with a smile and a wave as the Clefable oriented himself post teleport, and Paper stumbled back into his side as the momentary vertigo settled. Gifted with psychic or not, teleportation was not a sensation she was adjusted to in the least bit. It was dizzying, like spinning in circles with your eyes closed and then opening them and trying to walk. You didn't actually feel it until you looked around. The Audino rubbed her eyes as the psychic rested his hand on her shoulder, only after to be greeted by... voices?
Her eyes opened and she examined the room and the faces within it quietly. This... wasn't the ground floor.

"A big shot?" The Gardevoir echoed in a false sense of surprise through his usual smile, hand leaving Paper's shoulder as the girl stepped forward. "I'm more like a princess trapped in her castle. Ah-- maybe the bomber came to rescue me?!" He rose his finger to his lips, thoughtful revelation in his voice. Paper only offered an uncomfortable, even questioning stare at him in the silence he had clearly left to linger in the room. She broke that silence after a moment as Air advanced forward to examine the hole in the wall, attention turning to the workers while Salem idly rocked side to side, eyes looking over the room as he turned in place. "Was... was nobody evacuated? Why didn't you flee the tower instead? It's not safe here." Came her disheartened questions as she met the Pawniard's gaze specifically. He seemed more... sociable at least.
It only sounded like the most rational of responses to a bombing: leave, quickly.
Others might have been inside too unfortunately. Hopefully Viann and the others found anyone higher up-- if any. If not, then they were at least bound to run into anybody left inside on the lower floors.

"Do you have any idea what caused the explosion?" Salem's voice grew quiet, absent of it's usual antics as he began to pace desks and tables. There was one bomb here and it was highly unlikely there would be another... but he couldn't for the life of him make sense of why they were placed the way they were. It made no sense if the intent were to take the tower down but still he looked. The psychic, more than anything, was hoping to find a pair of eyes glaring back at him, though he knew well the unlikelihood in that.

((Salem is examining the office he's currently in.

As he searches the office for any sign of the Sableye, Salem discovers an overhang in the ceiling that casts a shadow around the room's perimeter. He also spots a small electrical burn mark on the wall that disappears into the hole.

Paper is interacting with the Pawniard.

As she interrogates the Pawniard, Paper learns that he and the Monferno were unaware of the presence of a bomber as of yet, and that they'd assumed the explosion was some sort of accident caused by the Haunter chemist who normally occupies this office.))

Zahra

Zahra accepted the plan with a firm nod to the Meowstic stepping up beside her, her dark eyes focused on his as he started to speak. So far he’d been the only one to offer consistently sound and patient advice. He wasn’t her captain, but she wasn’t naive enough to think she was the better leader between the two of them.

It was unfortunate, then, that both were startled as the Pancham tried to art past at a full sprint. On the ground, she wasn’t terribly quick. Evidently the same rule did not apply to Viann, who lunged forward and gripped Ty tightly by the arm. The two males seemed to stare each other down, with the elder feline snapping out reprimands and orders alike as he held the little Dark-type firmly in place. Still standing next to both of them, Zahra took his advice with an expression of great discomfort. Bombs on the stairs would definitely be problematic. She could take point by air and search for anything that looked mechanical, but there wasn’t a guarantee her companions would still have a safe passage. She wasn’t trained for this.

She watched Viann’s arm fall as he gestured to where the other party had slipped away into thin air. ”I doubt it. Unless he intends to go down with the building, he’ll leave himself an escape route somewhere below us,” she disagreed firmly. ”If the others are headed to the ground floor and working up, let’s work our way down and meet in the middle. We can trap him between us, if we’re careful enough.”

The Togetic glanced back to the Pancham, considering him carefully. ”If we find him together, I think we stand a chance at holding him until the others reach us,” she offered, gesturing between the three of them with a soft white hand.

Zahra would wait for Ty’s response, lifting off to hover above the floor with both feet pointed delicately below her and her wings outstretched without beating.

[[ @ Conners and Cy: She’s ready to head down a floor if Ty and Viann are.
@ Conners: Feel free to have her float with/ahead of the group as Viann would ask her to. She’s pretty willing to follow his lead on this one.
@ Darky: Nothing to examine yet, sorry. ;_; ]]

Air

Air had to stifle a nervous chuckle at the Gardevoir's theatrics in spite of himself. This wasn't really the time for playing around but it was funny--well, it was funny until he caught a look at the Monferno's face. The Ditto-Clefable's smile quickly fell as he saw the glare in the Fire Type's eyes, but it didn't seem to bother his Psychic friend at all. "I don't know what sorta nonsense you're spoutin' bud. A princess? A bomber? What kinda weird fairy tale crap is that s'posed to be?"

While the primate continued to stare daggers at the Gardevoir, the Pawniard looked up at the Audino, clearly surprised to be addressed directly by her. "Um, it's not...?" The bladed Pokemon looked puzzled, rubbing his swords against each other absently. "I mean, it's not like Jarvick hasn't done this sort of thing before."

"Who's Jarvick?" Air piped up, stepping away from the hole and staring over at the others curiously.

The Pawniard looked even more perturbed. "The Haunter who works in this office," he said, frowning. "The one in charge of dealing with any chemical problems around the tower. Are you two...new?" It wasn't too unsurprising that any higher-ups wouldn't know the specifics of their department, particularly new ones, and any Pokemon traveling around with that Gardevoir wouldn't be just anyone.

"Does it matter?" The Monferno rolled his eyes, tapping his foot impatiently as he watched the Gardevoir make his way through the office, staring at anything and everything in a way that made his fur stand on end. "Look, I'll tell you what caused the explosion. Jarvick got carried away again with his chemicals, made a mess and knowed it'd get him in trouble so he cut out quick. Might've just gone Ghost and be watching us now." The Fire Type glanced up in the air and called up at the ceiling in his harsh tone: "Come off it Jarvick, just own up to it already!"

"Um, there haven't been any Ghosts in this room." Air said, frowning at the Monferno. "He would've left traces of aura and there aren't any but ours around here."

"What's a Clefable know about aura, then?" The Monferno retorted.

Air hesitated, mind racing for a moment before he glimpsed the Gardevoir out of the corner of his eye. He'd just...blown the Monferno's anger off, right? Maybe that was the trick, keep a cool head. Taking a deep breath, Air made himself smile back at his aggressor, raising his shoulders in a careless shrug. "Probably not a lot," he said cheerfully. He shot a glance at the Audino and smiled before turning and walking away without another word to the pair. He headed over to join the Gardevoir, expression curious as he caught sight of the thoughtful look in the Psychic's eyes. "Do you think we should check out the rest of this floor, or should we move on?" he asked, wondering what the Psychic might have seen. "And, uh, should we do anything about these guys?" The Audino sure seemed to think so, but Air wasn't entirely sure if just telling them what was happening was the best way to handle things; the Ditto didn't hold any authority here but apparently the Gardevoir was a "big shot," whatever that meant, so he was probably the one who should make that call.

((As he looks around the inner office, Air determines that there are no traces of recent aura in the room, except those of the five Pokemon within, meaning that the Sableye never entered this room, even by way of shadows.))

Paper -- Salem

Finishing his lap, Salem stepped toward the hole in the wall, an energetic bounce in his step as he removed his hands from his pockets to grip the side of the hole and leaned out to examine the outer walls of the tower. "Ah, was he scheduled today?" His eyes rolled in thought. It wasn't as though he should or would know, but the Gardevoir had his own reasons for asking under the guise of uninformed. His eyes refocused from where he fearlessly leaned out the building, attention turning to the ground far below.
He wondered if it would hurt if he jumped out, or if his frail body would just break on impact. What would they say if he did? Would they panic?

His eyes fluttered after a moment. He could not be killed in such a way. That'd be silly. He could teleport.

The Gardevoir leaned back in, turning toward the group.
Air and Paper looked equally as unsure of how to take the situation. Paper, personally, was about to ask why a Ghost of all things was just sort of working with chemicals before Salem's palm rested on her head: "They're my guests! I've decided to show them around, but then a wall exploded!" He smiled. "Of course I had to check something so exciting out, but if it was nothing then I guess we should go." He let out a dispirited sigh as he began his way toward the door, eyes narrowing as he brought his finger to his teeth.
The Sableye was never even in here then. This only complicated matters if he could set them off from afar.

Paper looked at Air, then the duo with a frown. "Thanks for your help, s-sorry to bother... But I think it would be best if you left early, just to be safe you know?" Her head bowed, taking two steps back before turning on her heels and chasing after the psychic, happily removing herself from the situation.

"Did you really need to leave so soon? Shouldn't you have told them to leave? You can do that, right? What if another bomb goes off and they get caught in it?" He'd made his way down the hall quickly, his coat trailing behind him as the Audino worded off once she felt they were comfortably far enough away. The Gardevoir didn't say a word to his party until he came to a sudden halt, Paper nearly crashing into him as he spun around: "I had no idea you could track ghosts! ...You can, can't you, --uhm..." He looked at a loss for words as he crossed his arms in thought, staring at the Ditto. He... did not know the Ditto's name, did he? "What's your name, boy?" Naturally, he would introduce himself in turn- in all of his 'glory'.
Paper pinched the bridge of her nose, a quiet 'tsk' escaping her breath. "What about-" "We'll explore the floor, there's more people on the clock." Did... they split up, or move as a group? If Air could walk into a room and tell them a ghost wasn't there that was... outstanding, their job had become far easier, but they likely couldn't split then. "There's a Whimsicott nearby." The psychic smiled again. "Lovely lady, let's go pay a visit, shall we?"

((Salem left the office after some final glances, taking Air up on his inquiry to move along.

As he makes his way out of the office, Salem takes note that there is no door separating the office from the inner hallway. He also notes that only the wall lights of the office were on though there are also ceiling lights.

Paper follows after Salem without hesitation. He seemed eager to move on.))

Air

The Monferno snorted derisively at Air, watching him traipse off with an irate twitch of the tail. What was with these people? Every other word out of their mouths was pointless nonsense. "Shouldn't you be telling me that?" he replied to the Gardevoir, shaking his head, "It's not my job to keep track of those things."

"We're always all on call of course, but it's uncertain who'll be here at any given time," the Pawniard said hastily. "So long as we're here a set number of hours each week they're not very picky." Unlike some departments, theirs was not a particularly connected one. All of them knew each other of course, but they didn't interact much except when they met to give status reports and the like. He shrugged, looking at the Gardevoir apologetically. "That said, I can't think of a better explanation for something like this," he said, gesturing to wall. "Jarvick, uh..." He tapped his blades together again. "Well, last time he burned a hole through the floor, so..." It had been a nightmare placating the people downstairs, and now the outside stairs were broken because of whatever happened here; this would be another mess without a doubt.

For better or for worse, the Gardevoir seemed to see things their way in the end, and apparently he wasn't perturbed by it. The Pawniard had expected some sort of retribution for the damage done, but apparently they'd said enough to escape that for now. A surge of relief came over the small Pokemon and he smiled. "Y-Yes, I'm sure it was nothing. Andre and I will take care of it, file the reports and all that."

The Monferno scowled darkly. "Great. Volunteering us to do Jarvick's job for him." Still, he dropped the matter, going over to examine the hole in the wall himself, eyes carefully scanning the breaks in the structure as he actively tuned out the other Pokemon in the room.

The Pawniard smiled at the Audino, looking much more relaxed now that he knew he wasn't being held responsible for the explosion. "Oh, not a problem," he said, almost cheerfully, dipping his head back to her. "I may just take the rest of the day off after we finish filing the incident report." He needed it after that assault on his nerves.

"Hope that goes well for you!" Air said cheerfully, offering a wave from where he'd lingered near the place that the Gardevoir had strayed from. The Ditto was a little perturbed that his questions had been ignored, but watching the Psychic's actions and hearing his words after made Air more confident that he'd been right in thinking they shouldn't be too direct about the goings-on here; hopefully there'd be a chance to clarify it later. Whatever the case, the Gardevoir seemed to know where he wanted to go next because he was out the door a moment later, and the Audino immediately after him, leaving Air to hastily bring up the rear. The Ditto-Clefable paused to turn and wave back to the Pawniard before taking a few brisk, skipping steps to catch up with the others.

The Audino was murmuring something about dismissing the Monferno and Pawniard, which prompted a subtle twitch of the ears from Air, though he didn't say anything further. They walked in silence for a little longer without a response from their Psychic leader, but that rapidly changed when the Gardevoir spun on his heel to face Air directly. The Ditto-Clefable blinked with surprise at the abrupt address, but the eagerness in the Psychic's voice brought a look of surprise to Air's face, followed by a look of pleasure. "Oh, Air. Airoethe technically, but everyone calls me Air." Once again the words slipped out of his mouth in spite of himself. He almost never used his full name, but he wanted the Gardevoir to know for whatever reason. Maybe it was how he'd called him "boy"--for whatever reason Air was certain he didn't want the Psychic to see him as a child. And then he received an introduction in kind that left him speechless. Salem Leticia: even his name was beautiful. Caught in the Gardevoir's gaze as he was, Air's mind was a blank, utterly lost in the look in those eyes until the Audino spoke up, shaking him out of the moment.

"Sure, sounds like a plan!" Air agreed eagerly. "Uh, as for ghosts, yeah, of course!" he added cheerfully, keeping stride with Salem as he began walking again. "Invisible Ghosts, Dark Types, Kecleon, anything really." Aura made tracking incredibly easy, covering even those things Psychic couldn't find, and if both failed for some reason there were always other ways--canine Pokemon tended to have excellent tracking capabilities. There was a spring in his step and a smile on his face, the Ditto feeling once again like he was being useful. "I'll be sure to let you know if I spot any sign of him."

The Ditto fell silent for a moment, scanning the hallway they wandered through for any sign of the telltale yellow aura. There were a number of auras here, he could pick out six that were particularly recent, other than those belonging to him and his companions. Two of them were the Pawniard and Monferno's he knew that for certain, but the others were unfamiliar. If he'd met a Pokemon he'd recognize that individual's aura, but until he had a figure to put to the face it was just one more part of the mess of hazy after-images and muffled emotions that lingered after their owners were gone. "I don't see any sign that he's been through this part of the hallway," Air reported, blinking back the excess colors to look up at Salem's red-tinged blue. "There are four people who have been here recently, us and the Monferno and Pawniard from back there aside." And those people could have been just about anyone.

Eventually the trio turned into another office, and Air blinked in surprise to find a Whimsicott sitting perched at a desk, confirming the owner of at least one of the aurae in the hall. At the sound of their entrance, the Dual Type looked up from her paperwork tiredly, but her face brightened quickly at the sight of Salem. "Oh, hello!" she offered a wave from her perch, "To what do I owe the pleasure?" A grin settled on her face and she put her hands on her hips. "Don't tell me you're here for my sweets again." The Dual Type chuckled and reached down beneath her desk, pulling out a jar filled with small, round lollipops that blossomed from its top and setting it out within the group's reach. "Go on then. Help yourself."

Air would wait to see what the others did before helping himself to one of the candies in turn. As he stood to the side with a half-smile on his face, scanning the room idly, his eyes lit on the Audino and they widened in shock. He stifled a gasp, biting his lip uncertainly as he stared at her apologetically. When Salem spoke to the Whimsicott he would lean over to the Audino and murmur softly, "I'm so sorry, I didn't get your name before." Heaven forbid she'd introduced herself and he'd failed to hear it entirely, but it could only get worse if he didn't ask her now.

((As Air looks around the hallway, he learns that there are a total of nine recent auras trailing through it. The Sableye's aura is not among these. Five of these aurae belong to Air, Salem, Paper, the Pawniard, and the Monferno.))

Paper -- Salem

Interesting.
The psychic carried on, his pace quick and decided as it often were while Air spoke to the back of his head. He could hear the smile on his face. He had every right to be proud- if he were at all, but he certainly should be. It was a good skill to have... however it was it worked. "Good. Thank you, I appreciate that." While he didn't fully understand such a thing himself, he was a psychic and by extension, he also in a sense did. There were many, many things he could see and feel beyond the physical, but his ability fell short when it came to Dark types and Ghosts as well under few circumstances. The dead, he could not sense. Reality was, he had little choice but to trust Air, and he already proved he can see what he himself could not. It was better than nothing.
Salem turned into the open office after a walk, expression brightening at the sight of the Whimsicott at her usual spot at her desk. Somewhere deep in the back of his mind, he was glad she was safe. "Remi! You're looking as lovely as always~ Please share your secrets with me." He crouched before her, cuffing her hands in his own.

Paper remained in the back of the room by the door, leaning against the wall as her eyes covered the room with an observant first glance. She blinked quickly, posture stiffening as Air addressed her. At first, the Audino merely offered a blank stare before the fact finally hit her. "Ah, that's right, we never exchanged names, did we?" She gave an awkward chuckle, rubbing her ear as she turned toward the Clefable. "You can call me Paper, nice to meet you, Air." Her smile faded after a moment, remembering where it was they were as she looked back into the room. "You... don't feel anything then I guess?" Salem was as blind as she were, but he surely didn't seem hindered by it. He didn't even seem like he cared, just... pulling them around to the next thing he wanted to do. It was a wonder if he knew anything yet.

The Gardevoir in question finally stood, Paper's eyes returning to him as he lifted the jar, examining it closely as he spoke before finally dumping it unceremoniously on a table, eyes wide in surprise at the worker: "It's been quite a day. Hey, can you believe a wall exploded?" Paper rose a hand to her face, cringing silently before taking the distraction as an opportunity to check the windows and corners of the room. She didn't know what she was looking for, she just wanted to find anything out of place. Frankly, she wasn't sure how to respond to coming upon a bomb or a Sableye. Just scream for a while, she guessed. The other two would get the hint.

((Paper is checking the windows and walls of the office, at times crawling for a lower perspective.

While looking around the office, Paper notices that the windows are slightly ajar, and that this office has the same layout of the office with the hole. She also finds that the office is a bit messy, with a number of cotton wisps scattered throughout, and locates a trash bin full of candy wrappers and sucker sticks beside the Whimsicott's desk. As she is searching near the wall on the other side of the room, Paper spots something beneath a desk pressed up against the room's right wall, near the windows. Crouching down to get a closer look she finds a green and white orb, similar to the red and white bombs from the viewing platform. While the bombs from before were about the size of tennis balls, this orb is the size of a softball.

Salem is making a mess.

Salem successfully distracts the Whimsicott by ruining her beautiful candy artwork dumping out her suckers, allowing Paper to examine the room unnoticed. He learns from her that she saw the hole of the explosion along with her fellow coworkers but three of them backed off after the Monferno and the Pawniard went in to locate the Haunter chemist who they assumed to be at fault. She also tells him she had a visit from an unfamiliar Inkay earlier that day, who was lost on her way to the police outpost.))

Air

"Good to meet you, Paper." The Ditto-Clefable beamed at his Audino companion, relieved that he hadn't missed her introduction. "Hopefully we can get to know each other better after this is all over, yeah?" It wasn't the time or place for extensive introductions, but Air extended the hopeful question to make up for it. He hadn't forgotten the look in her eyes when he'd spoken with her about Psychic earlier, and he hoped to see it again: that was the look of a Pokemon who was just as interested in what he had to teach as he was, and it was a delightful thing to meet someone like that.

He blinked in response to her question, processing for a moment before it registered that she was speaking of aura. "Ah." The Ditto looked around the room, willing the colors back into focus as he stared. There were two distinct paths in this room, aside from their own: one was the lovely spring green of the Whimsicott and the other was an unfamiliar pale blue that seemed to possess a darker hue within, though it was too faded for him to be certain of that. Air regarded the blue aura curiously, finding that it snaked around the room much like the green one--both of the people who had been here didn't like to stay in one place, so it seemed. "The Whimsicott had a visitor, but it wasn't the Sableye," he told Paper quietly.

Remi smiled back at Salem, chuckling as he took her hands in his. "You don't look so bad yourself," she returned. "But that's probably the sugar talking." It was no secret that the Whimsicott loved her sweets, and it was clear she'd been indulging recently when she stuck out a bright green tongue at the Gardevoir. "What sort of secrets are we talking though?" she added, leaning back with a relaxed smile. "I'll trade you." He released her hands at that remark and she laughed again, shaking her head as he picked up her candy jar. "Aw, c'mon. Here I thought you had something fun to tell me." She humored him with a smile as he looked over her candies, watching his eyes closely to see which one he'd take--hopefully not the grape one, she'd been eyeing that for later--only to gape in surprise as he accentuated his news by upending her sucker collection. "SALEM!" The Whimsicott was out of her chair in a moment, hopping over her desk to the place where her candies rolled about, doing her best to stop them from rolling off the edges. "At least have a little reverence when you ruin a lady's hard work."

As she amassed the suckers in a pile, sorting them vaguely by color as she did so, Remi tsked again. "But no, I can't. Honestly I thought Jarvick had learned his lesson after last time. They would've fired him you know, if he weren't the best chemical specialist in the area. Bringing in someone new would require too much effort, and you know how the folks in charge hate effort." Of course he knew, Salem himself didn't like the effort of tending to his own job half the time, which was how they'd become acquainted in the first place--not that she was complaining. When all the suckers were in a pile, Remi began her color sorting in earnest, arraying them out in a rainbow before beginning to return them to the jar. "We all went to check it out when we heard the explosion of course, but Andre went off when he realized it was Jarvick, and Pippin insisted he could take care of it so we left him to it." The Whimsicott shrugged. "No need for us all to crowd around when there's other things to do. You know how much of a pain it is to file those accident reports?"

"Um, excuse me."

Remi looked up from her sweets at the sound of an unfamiliar voice, and found the Clefable who'd been following Salem staring back at her with a nervous look on his face. "Yes?"

"Sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering...does anybody else work in this office with you?"

The Whimsicott shook her head. "No, it's just me all by my lonesome most days. My coworkers aren't the most sociable."

Air frowned, trying to make sense of the comment. "Oh, that's a shame," he said, struggling to come up with the proper response. "Did you--that is--are we the first visitors you've had today then?"

Remi tilted her head thoughtfully. "Well, now that you mention it, you're not. This has been a strange day." Glancing back at Salem, the Whimsicott smiled. "So, would you believe it? Earlier this morning an Inkay comes up to me, lost as a Fire Type in water, asking if I knew where the police outpost was." The Whimsicott shook her head. "She seemed pretty shaken up about the whole thing, completely missed the directory in her hurry. You'd have thought someone was after the poor girl." Remi picked up a butterscotch lollipop thoughtfully, then unwrapped it and popped it in her mouth after a moment, tossing the wrapper back into the waste basket without even looking. "I gave her a watermelon one before she left," she added, gesturing to her array of suckers. "Hopefully it helped her calm down a bit."

((As he looks around the office, Air determines that the Sableye never entered this room, even by way of shadows. He also learns that one of the aurae in the hallway belonged to the Whimsicott and that another of those aurae is in this room as well, presumably belonging to the Inkay.))

Paper -- Salem

Paper continued her quiet investigation, small twitches of her ears picking up the heightening and lowering of voices at the very back of her attention spent. Her search was thus far in vain and her expression slowly grew stressed. It was an office, nothing more, nothing less. There was nothing out of the ordinary, no strange tell tale sign like a small hole in a window screen, or a foreign hair on the carpet like in the mystery stories and it was steadily leading to disappointment.
Her hand rested on an unfamiliar texture as she crawled about the floor, examining the bottoms of desks and chairs when she looked down to greet it. A look of shocked disgust took hold of her expression as she reared back on her knees, shaking her hand clean of the puff of cotton before pulling them close to her chest defensively.
Gross- disgusting-- she hated unclean things. They were so... dirty.
Her lips twisted into unease as her eyes swept the room again, pushing the unnecessary encounter out of the center of her attention when Air's voice touched her ears as he too approached the Whimsicott after a time.
Paper stood, dusting herself off as she quickened her pace about the room, head turning up and down as she approached the windows once more to stare out, and then slowly turn her gaze down, tracing the legs of the desks where they met the depression of their weight against the carpet in observant silence. Alertness took to her features after a moment, an unfamiliar flicker of green catching her blue eyes.

Her heart stopped.
Maybe the books weren't all wrong.
She edged forward, eyes squinting at the brightly colored sphere as she lowered herself back to the ground, and she felt the sudden urge to... cry.

Salem's ears twitched, arms crossed idly as his icy blue eyes turned to glance over his shoulder at the Audino crouched low on the floor while Air and Remi spoke. He didn't delay as he stepped back to Remi's desk, taking a piece of note paper and scribbling something in it before folding it closed as he turned back to the chatting duo. "Well, that's unfortunate. Hopefully she made her way there. Remi! I forgot to mention, there's a package for you at the front desk! I would have gotten it for you, but the people there always look at me like they want me dead- it's kind of frightening." He stepped forward, extending the note held securely between his index and middle finger out toward his coworker. "I need this in Jarvick's mailbox too, before he leaves, if you'd be so kind. We're going to go about our way; I need to finish this tour before my meeting later with the guild." He wanted her gone. The walk down to the first floor would be a distraction enough for them to talk and handle... that over there. Regardless they couldn't leave knowing something was in here and he wasn't making a scene. Yet, at least.

With Remi gone, the Gardevoir turned, running his way over to Paper. "Where did that Inkay go, Air?" He crouched beside the shivering Audino, biting his lip.
It... could be, but it's also possible it wasn't. "They only explode on command, I imagine. He's watching from somewhere and setting them off accordingly." Now would be a great time to kill them all, but the Sableye hasn't, why?
Paper's figure flinched, "What are you doing...?" reeling herself back to reality as Salem lifted the orb with minimal hesitation. The psychic's eye's narrowed as he looked up at the ceiling, then the window as he stood, opening it with his free hand before sitting back out on the ledge, holding the frame with his free hand as he leaned out to examine the walls in attempt to rule out any potential chain reaction of explosions.

If he set this up, he'd do it on a floor that posed risk of explosion on it's own, like the 8th floor, or with something flammable, like the 9th floor... but that was so far from the middle of the tower, where enough damage would cause the entire structure to crumble.
"...I wonder if it'll explode if it hits the ground?" "Don't."
If the Sableye wanted to kill him, now was the time. Unless he didn't. What a superfluous fellow.

The Gardevoir leaned his head back in after his examination of the tower walls, still sitting on the window frame and attention back on Air while Paper wringed her hands uneasily. "That room we teleported into- the explosion happened while it was empty, how suspicious and wonderful~ I wonder, were it a distraction?"

Air

Air listened intently to the Whimsicott's story, clinging to her every word. A strange Inkay had been here? And it had seemed like someone was after her? Air felt a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, mind flashing back to a pair of jeweled eyes. It couldn't be that they weren't the first to get caught up in this, could it? If there were civilians involved from the start... What was this guy planning exactly?

The frown that settled over Air's face didn't go unnoticed by Remi, whose expression grew concerned. "Hey, you doing alright, fella?" The Dual Type looked at him curiously. "You look like you just saw a ghost." She glanced behind her, just to double-check, half-suspecting to find Jarvick there after all the trouble he'd put them through. Seeing nothing, she shrugged and turned back to rifle through her newly reassembled candy jar until Salem inserted himself into the situation again. "I don't imagine it could possibly be your fault they look at you like that, hm?" The Whimsicott said dryly, an amused smile on her face. "But sure, I've got it covered." She plucked the paper from his hand and a lollipop from the jar before hopping down from the desk. She paused in front of Air, extending the candy up to the Clefable. "Here. Take this." Before the he could protest she raised a hand, stared him down without so much as blinking until he took the sucker from her.

"Thanks?"

She nodded, expression breaking into a smile. "I don't give the blueberry ones to just anyone, you know," she said brightly, shooting him a wink. That done, Remi turned on her heel and made her way to the door, cotton floating gently in her wake. "You owe me one, Salem," she said cheerfully, waving without looking back as she disappeared into the hall.

Air stood, somewhat dumbstruck, staring after her with the lollipop in his hand. It was hard to imagine someone acting so casual right now--but, then again, she didn't know what they did. The moment the Whimsicott's footsteps faded, Salem took off at a sprint to join Paper, and Air's eyes followed as he turned to spot the pair crouched together in the corner of the room, the Audino looking positively dreadly. "Paper?" His tentative question was quickly silenced by a question from Salem, which caused the Ditto-Clefable to start at its abruptness. "Uh, you mean in here...?" He didn't get a response before the Gardevoir carried on, thinking aloud as he picked up something small and green and white, much to Paper's apparent dismay. The sight of the thing made Air's blood run cold not long after, as he recalled a smaller, very similar orb that he'd held up above. "S-Salem..." He didn't know whether it was a bomb or not, none of them did, but he knew if it was, neither of his companions should be holding it.

"Salem, what are you doing?" Air's voice spiked in vague horror that mirrored Paper's as he watched the Gardevoir climb out onto the windowsill, still holding the ball in one hand, and extend it out into the air as if actually considering whether to drop it or not. No--no, no--this could be very, very bad. He joined the other two in an instant, standing to the side of the window and eyeing the orb warily where it rested in the Psychic's palm: that was something that needed to change right now. When Salem finally leaned back in, addressing him with a question, Air frowned, considering the query though he was a little preoccupied. "It could have been," he said, eyes straying back to the potentially volatile thing in Salem's hand as he spoke. "It was definitely a weird place to set off a bomb. An isolated bomb. That didn't really seem to have a particular target." The more he voiced the idea, the odder it sounded, but there was something more pressing to deal with before he could puzzle over that problem too much. "Hey, you should give that to me. Just in case." He said, nodding to the possible bomb with conviction in his tone. He extended his hands up to take the ball after setting the sucker on the desk beside him, his expression cautious but determined. "You said I should protect you, right? It's harder to protect someone from a bomb he's holding, you know."

His heartbeat didn't begin to slow until the orb, whatever it was, rested safely in his hands, and he cradled it delicately as he turned it around, examining its parts. There were no seams he could make out, except the obvious one between the top and bottom halves, and no indication of how one might get to its contents, not that Air was terribly interested in trying with two very vulnerable Pokemon nearby. "It looks just like the one he threw at me," Air said quietly, "Only green instead of red, and definitely bigger." Which probably meant nothing good. "Is there a bag I could keep this in?" he said, glancing from Paper to Salem curiously, "We shouldn't leave it here and I'd really rather not carry it around in the open."

Now that he had the potential bomb in his hands, and the matter of taking care of it had been addressed, Air was finally able to return to Salem's initial question. "So the Inkay." The Ditto-Clefable looked up, vision shimmering turquoise as the colors shifted into focus around him. "Ah!" Air jumped, hands clamping down around the ball as he did so; his heart beat wildly with the fear that he may have triggered an explosion with the sudden pressure, but his worry shortly proved unnecessary. "Her aura--it's on here." Air explained, staring down at the orb before looking up at Salem with wide eyes. "You don't think she's working with him?" That would be crazy, right? "But--but Remi also said it seemed like someone was after her, and that she was looking for the police." Air frowned. "He might have put her up to it and she was trying to get help too. I couldn't say." There weren't a lot of possibilities, but the one certainty was that the blue aura still clung to this ball--at the very least she'd held onto it for a while, aura didn't just linger on things you touched in passing. "We can see where else her aura leads," he said, offering the suggestion as he stared at the faded blue trail that split to the right and left at the room's entrance. "It's definitely out there in the hallway too."

((As he examines the aura throughout the room, Air determines that the Inkay traveled all throughout the office, and finds traces of her aura on the orb. He can also detect the trail further out in the hall, and has the means to follow it all throughout the floor, which will reveal that the Inkay's trail leads to every office.))

Paper -- Salem

Salem sat staring at the unnerved Clefable in his request for the orb, his eyes flickering to the object in question before returning to Air's. The psychic smiled slightly, tossing the bomb over with little thought otherwise. "It won't explode. If he wanted us dead, he would have done it long ago." Salem stood, making his way back towards the doorway, but not before stealing three of the Whimsicott's lollipops: two went into his coat pocket while the other bounced back and forth between his fingers. Paper, on the other hand at the mention of a bag began to wander about the room they occupied.

The Gardevoir sat in Remi's chair as Air began to speak of the Inkay, placing the pink candy in his mouth as he leaned back in the seat to stare at the ceiling. His smile widened as the Clefable continued before finally raising a hand to remove the lollipop from his mouth, holding it out above him observantly. "It sure would be awful if we tracked her down, just to find out she's an assailant." There was a whimsy to his tone despite the weight of the presumption. "She planted the bomb. The only way she could have done it without Remi noticing is if Remi weren't around- Oh! Maybe because another event distracted her?" his wrist turned, lowering the lolipop back to his lips as he mused.
"The entire floor went to find out what that explosion was. It was planned."
And there was possibly more bombs in other rooms. What a trial.
"Didn't she come in here because she was lost?" Paper returned to Air, offering him a rather small shoulder bag for someone his size. Surely it belonged to Remi or someone else, but it was tossed lazily in the office closet-- no one would miss it. "Yeah. Why not?" Paper's eyes lowered as the Gardevoir sat back upright in the chair. He wasn't wrong- she could have looked suscpicious wandering around alone, unlike them being alongside him.

"... but I could be wrong." Salem sighed, Paper on the other hand looked back up, hope in her eyes. It was still only circumstantial evidence and frankly deductive work wasn't his strong suit... but he was far from bad at it too. His smile faded. "Until we know more, she's a criminal and to be treated as one." "We should find her-" "No." Paper flinched at his tone as the psychic stood. "We need to search the floor for more bombs. Besides, I'm sure those left of the floor have a thing or two worth mention as well. I say we split up, get this over with and move on." He waved the lolipop with a flick of his wrist as he spoke, his other hand retreating to his pocket. "We'll just meet in the hall whenever we're done. Search out the rooms, ask whatever you need to ask, try avoiding scaring people, nothing we haven't been doing already." Salem turned, placing the lolipop back in his mouth and walking back toward the doorway. The Gardevoir stuck his head out, just to make sure Remi weren't somehow already on her way back before glancing back at Air and Paper. "Won't we be... weird?" "Mm? New faces are always coming and going.""But everyone knows you-- are you important?""Nope!" The Gardevoir beamed. "Everyone seems to think so though!"

Paper grit her teeth. She wasn't surprised, truth be told. She took a breath as she walked passed the psychic and into the hallway, starting her way down it. "Well, I'm starting with empty rooms. We need to check all of them anyway..." "E~eh that shyness isn't a good trait! You'll never meet a boy that way!" Paper waved the Gardevoir away dismissively as she turned into an office after a quick peak for another soul within it, and Salem turned back to Air, removing the lollipop from his mouth once more.
"I'll go talk up some coworkers then. There's a Carracosta down the hall I've been eager to meet! I look forward to hearing what you find." He smiled, waving his goodbyes to the Clefable as he too took his leave from Remi's office.

((Salem is visiting a coworker in another office.

Salem finds the Carracosta in the office two to the right of this one. There is one office between this one and the office where the initial explosion occurred. The Carracosta is pacing, she seems to be upset by the whole affair.

Paper is scanning empty rooms on the opposite end of the hall.

Paper starts her search in the office two to the left of Remi's office after spotting a Heliolisk in the next office over. She searches the office thoroughly and finds nothing out of place, in fact it is incredibly tidy--she spots some stationary on a desk with the letter "I" embossed on them but no other indicators of who it may belong to. She then moves into the next office to the left, and finds a number of missives addressed to Andre on a desk within. As she searches the office she comes across a green and white orb the size of a softball, nestled between the back wall and the side of an overstuffed file cabinet in the left-hand corner of the room. It's wedged securely in place, but could be pulled out with some effort.))

Venari
Ty

Go down the stairs, beat the Sableye to the bottom, corner him coming back up. Easy, simple, sensible. Pancham weren't the most nimble of creatures but in spite of his stubby legs he had a land speed to envy when he went full force. Running full force straight ahead wasn't really any use in a fight, but with a body that was both taller and lighter than that of most Sableye it was a foregone conclusion that he would make it to the bottom first. Then he would climb back up the tower until he found the damn thing, he'd punch it and he'd drag it... somewhere, wherever they did punishments here. He had never needed to go there so he didn't know where it was, but he could figure that out after. It was a pretty much flawless plan in all regards, right up until an enormous white furry wrench was thrown into it.

It wasn't that Viann grabbing at his arm would slow him down too much, or that he couldn't break out of the relatively feeble Meowstic grip. It wasn't even that Viann had any sort of point; he had been getting away from the explosion fine until he had been borderline collapsed on and he could do it again if he had to. And now that he knew it was coming, he was confident that even if another one got thrown at him he would be just fine.

What gave Ty pause was the annoying realization that the remaining pair wanted to search for the Sableye as well, but that they also looked like complete wimps. They would definitely get their butts kicked if they were left on their own which meant that instead of simply being able to race down the tower and beat the Sableye to the exit he now had to choose between making sure he caught the "prankster" and making sure these two didn't run into it and getting beaten up.

And as annoying as it was, the only real option was to stick with these two. They seemed pretty insistent that the others were already at the ground floor, somehow, and even if he wanted to question it he had seen too much dumb stuff at that point to bother. "He's already gone. They don't stick around long once they've been seen." Ty had dealt with plenty of Sableye and they were all the same. They were little miscreants that you had to give a good punch to set straight. Once they did their "prank" they didn't hang around longer than they needed to unless they were going to do some kind of second prank but that didn't seem likely here. "If you're gonna look to then come on." Ty twisted his arm around in Viann's grip and grabbed back, giving the Meowstic a tug in the direction of the stairs and the nearby security room. "I'm gonna check that room, if you wanna look at the stairs then go ahead. Once I've looked in here I'm heading down there because I'm gonna find it and I'm gonna kick its a**." There wasn't much of a chance that the stairs were rigged with anything since that meant the Sableye couldn't control the detonations. Not that Ty thought that tactically on the matter--it was simply that Sableye liked to be around to watch whatever they did, because they were enormous jerks that way, so whatever he had done he was in some other area entirely.

Zahra and Viann may have had their concerns regarding whatever upcoming confrontation there was going to be, but Ty was completely and totally confident. He didn't have a doubt in his mind. He knew Sableye. He knew that he could smack the crap out of them. Heck, he was even pretty good at finding them in the shadows if he was looking for them. He was going to find this one and he was going to beat the crap out of it because it had crossed a line.

But first he was going to check the security room, though not the ladder above since that would just be a waste of time.

As he investigates the security room, Ty discovers the hole the Sableye disappeared into leads to this room. He finds a desk with a chair pushed back from it, that has untouched reports and a jar of candy atop it, and spots a one-way window that looks out on the deck just above it. There are no lights on in the room but plenty of natural light from the window and open door. Although the Sableye passed through here, nothing seems to be out of place.
