AniKielen So what if I had an Umbrah Character that Worked as a Renaissance fair re-enacting a Barrel maker / Wine maker in a fairly advanced world? Would that be logical? I am just trying to figure out if I were an Umbrah character I assume I would be from a specific world and if so I am just trying to figure out what kind of world so I can properly transfer that to my characters disabilities of being thrown into an unknown situation with absolutely no technology. Ah. I see a flaw with the Prequel RP. You're suppose to go in blind to Krishna with no idea of your character's history or background. Through roleplay, everyone will help create your race's culture and your character's previous life.
I'll have to cancel the prequel roleplay. I foresee contradiction and clashing happening with the main roleplay. This is an open world with a clean slate, nothing is assumed, determined or properly transferred from your character's previous life. They could've been the leader of a Nation in one life, but become a bartender on Krishna with no idea of what they were previously. That's the idea.

They could've been the leader of a Nation in one life, but become a bartender on Krishna with no idea of what they were previously. That's the idea. Well An option could be you get rid of races and just add different benefits and disabilities that are randomly given to a character. Example: You have a list of 100 advantages and 100 disadvantages. (or more of course) Anikielen rolls a 13 and a 58 on his advantage roles: Character Gains: (13)Water Breathing and (87)Nictitating membrane Anikielen Rolls a 43 on Disadvantage Role: Character Gains: Light Sensitivity (Blinded when moving from a Dim place to a Lighter area too quickly) This would add a side of difficulty to the roleplay, because you won't know what you will get. As well as gives you the capability to have that side of unknown because no one will have a set race, but in their own right they will have there own race. With this idea you could have that memory loss without the worry of other race ideals becoming too involved and if the player wants to further understand their own race they can through roleplaying. You could have a compendium of races built which you can bring into play in later rps. The compendium would also allow players to choose already existing races for their characters if they don't want to take the chance or they find the races culture works for them best. This would also make creating a working Society/Faction with like minded players important to the success of the planet. If you want I have a list of about 500 Professions that you can use in the same fashion to give a character another level of skill. Such as they roll again to determine what there mother and fathers skills were such as falconry, Fletcher, and Jeweler all the way too a Spoon maker. This would give the players something to work with if they want too, but of course that would be entirely up to them if they want to follow there ancestors professions. What do you think? The prequal can be started this way too with the four players.

Nah. Races are going to stay. They're more of a story device than a game system ploy. I do like the random addition to the character (Light Sensitivity, etc). There's been a small discussion about custom races and that would work beautifully with it. Most of what you said is what we have in mind for Custom races (I might actually rename that to Bloodlines or Ancestry).
The idea behind the races is to "upgrade" your character as you learn more about your race's culture. Think of the current races as simply Types (Human/Plant/Mech). There will be growth to the races just like weapons (take a look at the weapon thread and how they evolve). As your character learns more about their race, they'll eventually branch off from the main type to become more specific. So, different breeds and pretty much exactly what you said. Haha. As you further the race codex, you'll delve deeper into your ancestry and learn more about your own abilities.
So you're thinking of using the prequel to flesh out one of the Ancestries for your race? A specific one? That can work, but I would suggest using NPC's and not your RPC.

So your saying the original races are going to branch off into different evolutionary paths? Its certainly an interesting idea and I do like it, but Iam just trying to figure out how that wold work? You said they gain different perks as you learn about your race and culture, but how does that work if you can't remember anything about your past? It seems difficult to inact, but can be fun for sure. So just trying to figure out how this would work: (This is what Iam assuming your saying so please correct me if I am wrong or off) So say I chose Mech and after so many words my character "evolves." He now finds out he has a Bloodline of a Toaster and gains increase in stats and skills such as a Natural heat wave and a Short Circuit in water. Is this a correct assumption of what can happen? I enjoy randomly choosing things for my characters history/lineage, because you never know what your family did before your your born and its out of your hands. So randomly generating it just seems the most realistic.

So randomly generating it just seems the most realistic. It will be a specific quest with a new skill where your character will meditate and then you or someone else will have to decipher your thoughts and dreams. And yes, there will be two options available for your character. The bloodline will have two perks. You will either roll to randomly be assigned a perk or you can spend Influence Points to choose the one you want specifically. This is all farther down the road, but you have the right idea.

Hey there.
Welcome to the guild. We've just started the "Exclusive Opening" where four volunteers have taken on the responsibility of being "The First" to step into the world of Krishna. Behind the scenes, I'm still working on game systems, open storylines and other little perks to the guild. We've been discussing a little "Prequel" roleplay which will flesh out the history, habits and culture of some of the races and their characters until the Guild is open to everyone. Roleplay is currently closed in the main story, but I'm interested to see some "Prequel" roleplay. I'm occupied with main system creation, so anyone can feel free to take the reigns on starting the Prequel if interested. AiniKieleen and Sherbert Lullaby have been discussing a little about the Umbrah.

Whew! That was a lot of reading to catch up on. cat_xd So, we're thinking of doing an Umbrah Prequel that centers itself around our ancestors who were the first of a bloodline? cat_question Sounds like a lot of fun!

So Boss, How difficult will it be to make my character into a Wine Maker? I am just wondering for the mere fact of recipe creation and process.

AniKielen So Boss, How difficult will it be to make my character into a Wine Maker? I am just wondering for the mere fact of recipe creation and process. Not hard at all. You'd learn the Gather, Cook & Alchemy skills. Use Gather to grow your ingredients, (Cook + Alchemy) to create an Ability (or abilities) that allows you to ferment and brew alcoholic beverages.

Ok! Question. I see you guys in the Temple and you posted that anyone can learn the Alchemy skill. Are all the skills interchangeable between classes or just select ones?
And! I started my character creation. Any suggestions for good image hosting sites?

And! I started my character creation. Any suggestions for good image hosting sites? I use photobucket myself. I do have access to an account my friends and I have been group-sharing for almost 10 years now. Haha. I'll send you the username and link if you'd like to use it too? I enjoy seeing what people add it to it. c:

I'm wondering this too... Ah. I'll clarify that later in the game system creation. Armor, Knowledge, Charisma and Luck can not be learned. Those are the 4 which are class specific.
