Jabir smiled at Shane's reaction. Most people often shrink away or act oddly around him. It was nice to see an acceptance for a change
He carefully lowered the bundle and handed the baby to Shane to pick
"This is your charge. We nicknamed him DJ because he was created from an MP3, but I think he would be better suited with another name"

Shane carefully took the bundled up child from Jabir and looked at the sleeping figure of a boy. Jabir said that he'd been made from an MP3 player, and Shane noticed the boy had blue and purple skin. Bringing the boy close to his heart, Shane thought hard of a suitable name. Almost in a flash, the perfect name came to his mind.
"Pyren." was all Shane said, looking adoringly at his newly adopted son.

"Pyren it is then. Jabir could you take him to see his room and then set up a portal?"
"Sure. This way" Jabir went out the door and lead Shane to a 3rd door hidden behind a curtain. On the other side a huge entrance hall could be seen

Following behind Jabir, Shane felt like a tree standing next to a skyscraper, and Pyren was a seed. Shane wasn't afraid of Jabir at all, but when they came into the open of the entrance hall, Jabir's height did intimidate Shane a little bit to hold Pyren close so he wouldn't be lost amidst the people taller than him. Pyren stirred a bit in his sleep.
As Shane walked along the entrance hall, he wondered if the door they had just walked through was an example of one of Jabir's portals. He wondered this soely because he couldn't belive that he hadn't noticed such a massive entrance hall behind the little potion shop that he'd orrigionally gone into.
There seemed to now be a bit of an awekward silence in the entrance hallway. It may've just been the empty space between the ceiling, Jabir, Shane and Pyren, but the situation felt slightly out of place, so Shane decided to strike up a conversation. First, he figured he'd start with what was really on his mind at this moment in time.
"Wow...this place is truely amazing Jabir! How did you come about such a place?" Shane would've joked around and asked if he'd built it himself...but he decided against it, because for all he knew, Jabir could have.

"We've bought it a couple of years ago. It was mostly falling apart and invaded by the forest. Took me some time to renovate it and keep it from being engulfed again. As for the main structure is mostly my doing"
He lowered his neck to Shane's height, an apologetic smile on his face
"Sorry if I sound like I'm bragging about, but I'm mostly a Space manipulator. This things come natural to me"

"It's fantastic!" Shane exclaimed still following behind Jabir "I'm sorry, I don't know too much about real magic, so it may mean nothing comming from me, but it looks like you really put alot of work into this."
Shane didn't know much about magic, but he did know alot about nature, and the way Jabir put it, it seemed as though the forest was deliberatly trying to invade the HQ. He had seen pictures of what remained of the forest on the wall, and it seemed to have given off an odd vibe. Shane took the risk of sounding stupid in front of Jabir, but he asked anyways.
"Is the forest magical then too?"

Jabir suddently stoped walking and turned to face Shane wit a serious expression "It has a magical aura surrounding it yes. It's a dangerous place to go for dark things lurk there"
"It's out of bounds. If I catch anyone, either Mishap or guardian, going there do not expect me to be merciful"
He took a map from one of his pockets and handed it to the new guardian
"This will indicate all the locations withing the HQ. It also shows which areas are restricted"

Shane took a moment to look over the map. His eyes first flew towards the areas marked out of bounds. Maggie's room, Jabir's room were among them. That made sense, Shane wouldn't want anyone to invade his privacy either. However, then came the Forbidden Forest, and Swamp Isle. Just the names of the places set the adventerous heart Shane had springing into action. He'd make sure Pyren never went to those places...but inside his mind, he made a note that one day he'd explore every nook and cranny the HQ had to offer. He just hoped that when the day came, Jabir would understand.
For now however, Shane thanked Jabir and stuffed the map away in his pocket. Everything on the map seemed so perfectly organized and layed out that it made Shane admire Jabir's renovating abilities even more. He vaguely wondered if he'd be able to ask Jabir to help him with his basement.
As they reached the second floor, Shane turend to Jabir to ask him finally.
"So, about these portals...what are they exactly?"

Jabir was trying to locate Pyren's room when Shane asked him the question
"Just a connection that allows to travel between 2 distant places in a small amount of time. Like crossing a door"
They had finnaly reached the right door "This will be your room when you wish to stay here. The key Maggie gave you opens it"

Jabir's answer had confirmed Shane's assumption about the door in the potion shop really being a portal. Shane had never seen a portal being formed before. The most magic he'd ever seen was a fairly spectacular ritual he saw a few wizards perform that he stayed with for three day during his travel. There was also the asorted number of magic tricks that he kept on his person at all times...but that was about it. He was very anxiouse to see how it was that Jabir actually went about his 'space manipulation'.
Noticing that he'd reached the room, Shane pulled the headphone-engraved gold key from his pocket and unlocked the door to reveal a fairly spaciouse dormatory room. The main section was painted a deep cherry red, and about ten feet from the door on the right side was a small bathroom.
Further along, past the bathroom was a dark cherry painted bedroom that contained a small writing desk, closet, dresser, night table and king sized bed, that Shane suspected was his room.
Almost three feet away was another opening that lead to a room painted electric blue that contained a crib, changing table, closet, dresser, rocking chair and empty bookshelf which he imediatly deemed to be Pyren's room.
Directly across from Pyren's room was an empty room, painted a light yellow that Shane decided would be best to turn into a playroom.
After taking a tour of the room, Shane returned to the main mini-hallway in the room. With his free hand, Shane pointed to the blank wall, directly opposite the door and adressed Jabir.
"Right there please. If you could make a portal, that would be as good a place as any." Shane requested politely.

Jabir liked the way Shane had invisioned the room. The spell he had cast some time ago, to allow guardians to adapt the rooms to their needs, started working the minute the key had entered the lock
Shame he couldn't do the same with furniture but they didn't had enough money for the material to support the spell
He waited there while Shane took the tour and looked at the wall he had pointed
"I need to know exactly where to link it. An object or one of your memories will be enough"

Shane looked at Jabir inquisitively.
"I don't think I quite follow you Jabir." he admited "I imagined simply that if you created a portal, it would appear as a door on that wall." Shane began to quickly think now of what Jabir was getting at. He didn't think a memory would be the best link, as he'd want it to be accesable by Pyren as well, and as for an object, if Shane was correct he decided on what he'd want the portal to replace.
"If I'm right in assuming though, there's a closet on the second floor of my house, next to one of the spare rooms, which doesn't serve much of a purpose. Would that work as a link? If that's too big then, maybe the key?" he speculated.

"Let me put this way. When you were little did you ever wonder if you opened a door it would still lead to the same place when it was closed? Portals work like that. If I don't know what's supposed to be on the other side it might as well end up in someone else's bathtub!"
Chuckling at his own explanation he tried to vizualise the door, gathering extra pieces of information as Shane imagined the door in his own head
Jabir wasn't really reading his thoughts, he'd never been good at that, but an image bubble was forming and he could see the door and its surroundings, enough to know its location
"That memory will do perfectly"
He grabbed a large piece of chalk an focused on the door described, drawing its outline perfectly. When he finished the doornob, the wall started to fade and a back of a door appeared instead
"Done. It will lead you directly to the spare room. Just use the key to lead it here, or focus on this room. Both will work"

Shane was amazed at the magic Jabir performed. He could instantly tell that the back of this door was definatly the door in the closet, but he unlocked the door with the key, just to make sure. Shane was instantly taken aback by the realization that he really was back inside his house.
"Astounding!" he exclaimed, walking out of the would-be closet and into the second floor hallway. He walked around a bit until his eyes caught sight of the door leading to the garage and suddenly remembered why he'd come to the potion shop in the first place as he ran back to the spare room.
"Ah darn it!" he exclaimed to Jabir, but then lowered his voice remembering Pyren was still asleep. "I forgot to pick up something to fix my bike from the potion shop. Is there anything you might have on you Jabir?"

Jabir scratched the back of his neck, trying to remember of something he could use. Unfortunatly Maggie's store didn't had any useful supplies for that case
"I'm no expert in mechanics but I think I can have a look on it"
