S.Spinier [Zaku IIs]

Spinier had finally made it safely back to his Musai. H had his ship hold position in the middle of the fleet, off to the side. It's cannons have been ready to fire since the operation began but Spinier gave orders to hold fire and hind within the darkness of their own fleet. He knew his men desperately wanted to fire off the mega particle guns until they over heated or ran out of energy. Just to take out as many earthnoids as they can in the battle. But Spinier wanted to make sure that his ship survived. Not simply from the responsibly he now had as a Captain, but it would be a waste for them to make themselves a target and be sunk this early in the war. Spinier landed his Zaku on the platform in the bay and walked it to its loading area to be refueled. Spinier opened his cockpit hatch and stepped out to stretch a little, holding onto the hatch frame to stay with his Zaku. The cockpit wasn't cramped but it wasn't a wide oven space either. One of his bridge personnel caught his eye as she approached him from his left. He turned towards her as she floated almost clumsily into his arms. Making sure she stayed professional, Spinier maneuvered her to a couple feet away before steadily letting her go. "I'm sorry Captain." She nodded embarrassingly. Spinier unlocked his helmet and pulled it off, the helmet was more cramped than the cockpit. He then looked her in the eyes with his calm but serious expression. "How is the operation going?" He asked her. He would've addressed her by name, but since getting this new ship and crew less than 24 hours ago, he simply hasn't formally met the entire crew. "The operation is going well sir. The colony is still on it's course and should enter the earths atmosphere within the hour." She spoke affirmatively, how a soldier should, but her soft voice showed how young and untrained she still was. She couldn't have been any older than 18 Spinier estimated. Spinier tilted his head to crack his neck before asking his next question. "How is the federation holding up." Even though he was just out there. He was focused simply on destroying ships, not concerned about how they were going about it after the fact. "Their flag ship was disabled but General Revil is alive. But because of this their fleet has halted their advance and have sent a majority of their mobile forces to the front." Spinier cursed mentally after hearing the information. He had a feeling, but he was secretly hoping the Magellan he shot down was the General's ship and not the one he was only able to damage. Look looked back at her as she continued. "The federation believes the battle is at a stalemate and have now begun concentrating their ships on destroying or altering the colony's flight path. Also, our second wave will be launching momentarily." "Alright." Spinier said as he looked up at the head and horn of his Zaku. "My Zaku should be refueled in 15 minutes." "Do you want me to have the second wave to hold until your ready to lead them in?" She asked, knowing that Spinier was originally aiming to dive into the enemy fleet and be back before the second wave was ready. But unfortuently the hornets nest was more aggressive than he expected. "No," Spinier responded."Have them launch on schedule. I'll simply fall in behind." She nodded in understanding. She placed her hand on his Zaku's chest and began to turn around to report back to the bridge. Spinier reached out and set his hand on her shoulder. She looked back at him and began to blush, but before she could say anything. "What is your name?" Spinier asked, his normally cold voice actually sounded a little warmer. "Uh... Brist, Brist Strathmore." She smiled shyly. "Brist." Spinier said softly with a slight nod. Brist smiled more surely after hearing her Captain use her first name instead of her family name. But knowing matters right now were urgent, she took the initiative to separate from him. "I should be getting back to my post... I pray for your safe return." Brist gently eased herself from his grip and pushed off of his Zaku to float to the nearest door. Spinier watched as the door shut behind her before he looked at the palm of his hand. His hand had slightly begun to tremble as his adrenaline wore off. He clenched his fist tightly to stop the shaking. There was no time for him to relax yet, he still had a battle to win.
