entervixen Sugar-Coated Accident Those are absolutely lovely! And a belated congratulations! Thanks! My mom wants me to write a book now, how to do a wedding for 2k LOL. Also just updated with a new spin-in-progress, one of my birthday braids! The braid is going to make great yarn! The Wingspan shawl looks like a lot of fun - both to make and to wear!

Thanks! I'm really digging the yarn, I can't wait to see it knit up. ^_^ And yeah, Wingspan looks like it would be a lot of fun to knit. ^_^

Pics tomorrow when I can get better lighting, but my mom bought me (!) two more Corgi Hill Farm braids, both in the same colorway; Octavia. She bought them for me because my main character in the book I'm working on is named Octavia. biggrin So exciting!

The skein is BEAUTIFUL! Love the color blend!!!!!
Makes me wish I wasn't so allergic to sheep's wool...(break out in blisters, swell up, ...not good...and, it's the FIBER that I'm allergic to, not the lanolin). I've learned (the hard way) to be very careful what I use when knitting, crocheting, etc., ....even needlepoint, if I use regular wool, my hands will swell, crack & bleed. NOT allergic to alpaca, silk, cotton, etc., so have tried to teach myself to spin with those, which I am told is harder, since the fibers are shorter.

NOT allergic to alpaca, silk, cotton, etc., so have tried to teach myself to spin with those, which I am told is harder, since the fibers are shorter. Ouch, that doesn't sound like fun. And actually that's not quite true. It's not harder so much as a different skill set. I actually learned on alpaca which was fun, and found silk hankies ridiculously easy to spin. Cotton I do have a hard time with but not because it's a hard fiber, so much as the twist needed for cotton and the twist needed for wool are different and I'm used to wool. I have spun baby camel, which is supposed to be soft as cashmere (actually, I did that last night, lol). I'm waiting for some llama to show up to try that out. I've even spun a bit of silk noil, which I've read you can't. You got to treat it similar to cotton is all, though. So it's not harder in the sense that it's actually hard, so much as it's all relative to what you're used to. Some spinning eye candy now. Baby camel sample:

Joined a spin/knit-a-long a little late into it, but I'm gonna try. The pattern is the bindi shawl and I'm gonna use this fiber, of which I have a pound: sheep shed studio's black mix mill ends. I figure a two ply worsted weight shouldn't take too long, at least hopefully. Then again, I also have a spinning challenge for this month to finish, and a reading/craft-a-long that ends August 31st. So hopefully I didn't bite off more than I can chew, lol.

Thanks. smile I've spun up a little over a hundred yards already on my spindle in two-three days. I didn't have the suggested needle size so I went up to ten, and the fabric is just gorgeous so far. ^_^

Finished working on revontuli, will post pics tomorrow due to my camera being missing and being unable to get good pics of it with my cell phone this late. sad I had to finish it early, so it's twenty or so rows short, but it came out really nice nonetheless. smile

The Revontuli is beautiful! Love the way the colors stripe perfectly! Was that done from the rainbow yarn you spun?
