4
Total: 4 (1-20)

"Charisma check? Oh, right..." She took the dice, and rolled it around in her hand before tossing it, watching it roll... And then stop.
A 4.
"Is that... Bad?" She frowned at the low number before looking up at Riley.

No amount of Charisma in the world would have saved Lizzy from that roll. At least she didn't roll a 1 - Riley would have had to kill off her character. Shortest D&H game ever.
The gruff male voice responded instead of Riley. It laughed heartily. Sure, we have a guard post. Are you saying you want to spend the night with us? That can be arranged, if you're that kind of lady. The voice was now being quite grotesquely suggestive.

Whoaaa. Whoaaaa. This might only be a game, but 'that kind of lady'? In that suggestive tone? If her mother ever found out about this... Lizzy's cheeks reddened slightly as she frowned, staring down at her fingers before looking up again, her frown deepening slightly as she shook her head, "Uh, I'll pass... Kind enough to point me towards the nearest inn then?"
Inns are a great place to seek information, right? She wasn't even sure where she's pulling all these terms from...

Riley chuckled (in her own voice) and nodded. Probably a good choice. The guard points you down the left road, where an out of town inn is a mile off. He mentions that if you have any goods or valuables on you, you should sleep with them stuffed somewhere safe on or in your body. This doesn't bode well for your experience, but it's the best you can do for now.
I will presume you head to the inn, which is run by a busty, healthy looking woman. She tells you to have a seat at the bar, because your room won't be ready for an hour. You hear scuffling upstairs - that is probably why.
Riley turned the page in her book.
To your left, a hooded figure is nursing a drink. To your right, an armored man is swaying, clearly having drunk too much. Do you talk to either man?

Well... At least the guards were nice enough to warn her about the inn? As the story progressed, it wasn't too difficult to see why; while the inn owner sounded friendly enough, the patrons sounded like a rowdy bunch... Shady too. Why a hooded figure? She had seen enough 'mysterious hooded people' on the island to know that they are likely to be bad news!
Then again, approaching a drunk armored man sounded like an equally bad idea...
"Uh, before making my choice, the armored man - is he a guard from the city? And is he muttering anything from being drunk that might give me more information about him?" She blinked, twirling a lock of her hair around her finger with a thoughful expression.

Riley blinked, pausing a moment. She checked to see if Lizzy could somehow read the book in front of her, before hesitantly continuing.
You do notice that he is wearing the same outfit as the guards, and he does seem to be muttering something under his breath. It seems he'd been fired previously that day, and wasn't happy about the situation.
Her head tilted as she regarded Lizzy. This game was to help her learn the basics, but Riley was soon discovering that she was gaining insight into the kind of ally Lizzy would make. Clever, and quick to catch on. Riley was suddenly very interested in more than just getting Lizzy and Jericho together..

That does explain the armor... Since that lecherous guard at the city gates refused to allow her to stay the night at the guard post as a not-that-kind-of-lady, maybe this drunk guard could fill her in on what's happening in the city... She was sure that one of the shows she had watched on the skellyvision a long time ago said something about... Drunk people being easy to extract information from? Something along those lines.
Well, anything to avoid the mysterious hooded figure.
"Approach the ex-guard," She nodded, "Buy him a drink, if that's allowed? Ask him, uh, about what happened to cause him to be dismissed from his post?" And now to hope he won't get rowdy or something...

Riley plucked Lizzy's character sheet and turned it around, scribbling a small change on it. When she gave it back, the amount of gold Lizzy's character held on her had changed.
You buy him a drink. He looks very thankful, and open to discussion.
Riley's voice changed, which sounded quite comical as she impersonated a drunk guard.
THA'S VERY KIND OF YE, MISS. VERY KIND. BAD DAY, 'TIS. GOT FOUR MOUTHS TO FEED AT HOME, AND THEY CUT ME JUS' COS' I LET ONE LITTLE GIRL INTO TOWN. CAN YE BELIEVE IT? 'TWAS JUST ONE LITTLE GIRL, I TELL YE. His voice turned much quieter. Couldn't've been the reason behind all th' killings, I told 'em I did. Was just a little girl, but soon as she got in all th' children started disappearing. Not my fault, I tell ye. 'Tis those demons, those dirty-
Riley's voice returned to her own. The man's speech is cut short as a dagger is plunged into his neck. You have no idea where the dagger came from, but the hooded figure from before is no longer at his or her seat.

Riley is good at this voice thing! In fact, she was surprised that the Mindflayer didn't land herself a role in that failure of a X'mas play... Either way, she couldn't help smiling at her talking like a drunk male, even if the sudden cut off caused her eyes to widen slightly; she hadn'r expect that at all, although that seemed to be part of the game's appeal.
She listened to the new information, part of her glad that this was all fictional; no doubt she wouldn't be thinking this clearly if this was really unfolding before her eyes... Right now, however, she was able to focus on the 'clues', something about a little girl and demons?
... Demons. That's kind of ironic, given how both Riley and her are demons.
Hm... Was the guard stabbed to silence him? And the hooded figure was gone? Could the two be linked? Possibly? Since this figure was mentioned, he must be an important person in the story, right? Ugh, so many questions...!
"Yell to see if anyone is willing to tend to the stabbed ex-guard," Fictional or not, she just couldn't do nothing; even if the inn's patrons didn't seem like the helpful kind, "Then look around for anyone out of place - specifically, see if the hooded figure is still around."

The bartender looks like he's going to call for help to drag the body away, but more importantly you notice that the hooded figure is in fact still around - and he or she is walking out of the bar. Quickly. From this distance you can tell the figure is short, and slight of build, but nothing else is visible. They're also very quick - if you plan on catching them, you'd better hurry.
Behind her book, Riley rolled a dice. The reason for the roll seemed to be a mystery for now.

"Chase after the hooded figure," She didn't even need to think about that option, although part of her was worried; if that hooded figure could stab someone without being noticed, wouldn't it be dangerous to just... Chase after him/her/it? She paused before quickly adding, "Uh, carefully?"
Mysterious dice roll is mysterious; but she was sure Riley would tell her what that's for soon. Probably.

Very well, you chase after the hooded figure. He or she leads you into a dark alley, and when you arrive at the end of it, you find yourself alone at a dead end.
There is a note sitting on top of a pile of garbage. If you decide to read it, the words 'If you want the truth, find the door with no beginning or end.'
You feel an odd sense that you are not alone, however. Almost as if you are being watched.
Riley gestured towards the dice. Roll a d20 again. This is called a perception check. The number will decide how perceptive you are to things that are not obvious.

Ohh, this is getting rather exciting, isn't it?
She nodded at the instruction given before picking up the dice again, tossing it on the table, watching it roll until it finally stopped. She blinked, looking at the dice before looking up at Riley; a 20!
... That's good, right?

Riley leaned in and stared at the dice roll. Then she leaned back and looked in her book. She stared at the dice roll a second time, and finally looked at Lizzy.
Nice roll. Riley complimented, before continuing. You see a figure above you, standing on the roof of the building. He's been watching you this entire time, but he certainly didn't expect you to notice. You do notice, however, and he looks as though he's ready to bolt. On second thought, he drops down from the roof, after figuring his cover is already blown, and takes off his hood.
Her hood, you correct yourself. You're faced with a young, blonde haired demon ghoul. The horns protruding from her hair are a dead giveaway, but even without that you can somehow sense that you are faced with a demon. The same demon, in fact, that the guard had been talking about earlier.
Lizzy's perception roll had gone a long way, it seemed.

"Um, thanks?" She replied, not quite sure if getting a certain dice roll deserves a compliment since it's all up to luck. Listening, she started frowning when it was confirmed that the hooded stranger is the ghoul the guard had been taking about - this would explain why she would want to silence him right? After all, the guard didn't seem to be threatening anyone else, and she was the only suspicious figure in the inn.
"Ask her about her motivation?" Her frown deepened slightly; it probably is not going to be so easy though...
