Biohazard EXTREME kenshiro28 Just joshin'. That said....yeah, I'd hit it too. *cough cough* anyways...y'know what was a terrible costume? Sub-Zero's weird bald shaolin pony-tail thing. That was turrible. I understand trying to emphasize a bit more of his Chinese heritage and all but...nuh-uh. I don't even see why. First of all, even in MK Mythologies, and UMK3, and MK4, Sub-Zero was played by a white guy. Second, Deception was where they first revealed that Sub-Zero is most likely a descendant of an ancient race of Cryomancers, hence NOT Chinese. Yeah, it was a stupid costume. @Elena: Yes, I have Face Book. I'm not gonna post my email or whatever here in the thread though.

Apparently, he's half-white, half-chinese. Clearly mostly white, even in Deadly Alliance. I have no issue with that.
And what, there couldn't have been Chinese cryomancers?

Kinda like the actor in Annihilation, I suppose. He looked pretty white in the movie. I actually didn't realize he was half-asian until I saw him in the Beverly Hills Ninja.
But he found the abandoned Cryomancer place in Outworld. So they are from Outworld (or a realm that Shao Kahn has previously conquered) so hence, not from China, so not Chinese.
There was actually an old backstory of Sub-Zero I read stating something about the fact that their father was from America, but I have no idea where it came from. One of the "Mortal Kombat History" FAQs states it as this:
Quote: Sub-Zero was born in America as the oldest sibling of a brother and sister. Their mother wanted a normal life for her sons who were already chosen to serve the Lin Kuei. She tried to hide her sons from their father whose life in America is to disguise the fact that he is a fourth generation Lin Kuei warrior. The father eventually found and returned his sons to his homeland to become Lin Kuei warriors; the mother and sister were never heard from again.
It also talks about how Shinnok had to defeat and imprison Lucifer to take control of the Netherrealm.
So yeah, I don't know where all that came from, but whatever. Sub-Zero clearly looks caucasian in the later games. So I don't think that second outfit in Deception, didn't have anything to do with "Paying homage to his Chinese origins". It was just a design they wrongly thought was cool.

ElenaMason Refresh my memory on something guys. Do they still have back stories going for the cyborgs? Well I guess if you can call them that. Like whatever happened to Cyrax or Smoke or....that red guy...damn it whats his name....come on shitty memory....help me now Sektor! OMG YES I REMEMBERED! XD damn short term memory loss. I know they were what...created to hunt down Sub Zero by the Lin Kuei? Cryax is...competle cyborg....I think. Sektor was once human and Smoke was also human? This was all back in MK3, but I stopped playing the series with Deception and I haven't played them in years. So have they done anything with the cyborgs?
Well, all 3 were human once, and basically everyone at Lin Kuei they automated, making them the cyborg ninjas. And yeah, they sent them after Sub-Zero in MK3. Then Smoke got deactivated, Sektor went back to the Lin Kuei and Cyrax got stuck in sand (as seen in Jade's Desert level). Then Jax found Cyrax and they brought back his human consciousness, so he's basically human in mind now. Meanwhile Sub-Zero took out the grandmaster of the Lin Kuei and started his new Lin Kuei, so Sektor started his own clan of cyborgs, the Tekunin. Then, Noob Saibot found Smoke, reactivated him and they joined forces to do evil.

Which, generally, isn't really that bad a story compared to, say, the main story.

Biohazard EXTREME kenshiro28 Which, generally, isn't really that bad a story compared to, say, the main story. :I What exactly are you referring to? I'm citing 4 different games, here.
The Onaga stuff, the "Deception" and Shujinko, Tavin and his brother, the whole Armageddon...though I did kind of like the idea of Scorpion becoming the chosen Champion of the Elder Gods but that never seemed to go anywhere.
I understand moving on from the war between Earthrealm and Outworld and such but it got pretty out-of-hand and too convoluted after awhile.

Well, you're missing out on one whole aspect of a game. That's like if I said, "Yeah, I played Castlevania Symphony of the Night, but I beat the whole thing with the sound off," or "while listening to something else." The game has kick a** music, why ignore it?
Especially if it's presented in such an awesome way as they did with MK vs. DC, and now with the new MK.
Hell, I even followed Tekken's storyline until it stopped being interesting. But at that point, I stopped playing Tekken games altogether. I still respect it as a fighting franchise, and will still play it at my friend's if he wants. But if I don't invest into a game's storyline, then I see no point in owning the game. And this goes for fighting games too. Even if there's very little storyline in one, I have to know what's going on and who has which agenda, and who I'm playing as, and who their enemies are, etc.
