"Aw, did my sarcasm hurt your feelings?"

Ea almost even laughed, but he seemed to realize this and went back to a bored frown, hiding any weakness away. But despite the facial expression, the walls of fire waned. He even sat down on the steps as he cradled Moxy in his arm. Yes well, neither had I when we got her. All I know is that the same night she came home somebody drained my mom's Fire Whiskey cabinet and the the ferret got loose that night." Ea said nonchalantly. He had to try hard not to smile, because he sincerely wanted to. But he was too cautious. It wasn't that he liked being hated, but he liked the security of it all. But now, a raven-haired girl in jeans and a t-shirt was ripping down his defenses just by being near him. Once more he jokingly suspected a charm at work.

Ea looked over at the make-shift dance floor and turned away quickly, his cheeks red. Grinding. Another term for dry-humping to music. Something that intrigued him and made him glum at the same time. Intrigued because it looked.... fun. But glum because he'd never get to do it with his 'I will kill you' vibe he seemed to give off. Moxy had escaped her distracted owner and was playing match-maker as she bit Anna's bracelets and attempted to drag her towards Ea. But as the ferret barely weighed a pound, all she managed was to give Anna's arm a soft yank.

Seamus clicked cups with Angelica and smirked, echoing her. "Cheers." She slid away along the edge of the crowd and he followed along behind. There was very near a disaster when his companion stopped short to compliment a Hufflepuff. Seamus gave her the obligatory once over. She was pretty cute, but he had sworn off Hufflepuffs.

He reached around Angelica's side and put his hand above her's on Morgan's cup, lifting it away. "I'll bring this back to Morgan." As he moved away from the trio he heard the Hufflepuff comment on Angelica's ability to match all of her clothing articles. He smirked again and made his way back to where they'd left Morgan waiting. "Here you are then." He handed over the cup. "Angelica has...been detained."

Morgan scanned the crowd. She was oddly eager to see who the first drunk of the evening would be. Everyone seemed to be hitting the Fire Whiskey pretty hard. Speaking of, she poured herself another shot. She sipped it nonchalantly as she let her eyes roam. There was a good chuck of people dancing in the center of the room, but several smaller groups of people had broken off from the mass and situated themselves along the walls to chat and drink. She watched as a Gryffindor boy, Ea she thought his name was, wrangle his ferret before a girl from his house wrangled him. "This is certainly no place for pets..."

The redhead circled the room with her eyes once more. This time she found faces she was much more familiar with. Moira and a girl Morgan remembered was called Devi were talking with Angelica and Seamus. Morgan raised an eyebrow. That would certainly be an interesting conversation. But before she had the chance to approach them and join in, Seamus was making his way towards her with her drink. She knocked back what was left of her shot and took the cup Seamus offered with a smile. "Mulţumesc" she said as thanks. "I see she has. She is being nice, I hope?" Morgan took a drink from her cup. She had no idea what had been placed into the punch to spike it, but it was certainly tasty.

Anna dropped her chin back into the palm of her hand and listened to Ea as he explained how the ferret was a bit of a drunk. A smile flitted across her face and she laughed, shaking her head when she did. "Maybe it's time to get some help for the thing." she joked. This boy was certainly strange. Just like before, he looked as though he was struggling between smiling and frowning. Curious, she watched him, noticing that he had been watching the others dance before he turned away, blushing. Anna frowned, looking over at the dance floor herself. It took her a moment to realize what it is he could have possibly been embarrassed about, and as she did, she grinned. Grinding hardly bothered her anymore. She didn't notice it unless she was doing it. And even then she was usually too drunk to know what was going on.

Letting out a sigh, she tried to come up with an excuse to leave when she felt something pull on one of the studded wristbands she was wearing. Even though the tug wasn't very strong, it still caused Anna's hand to fall down onto the top of Ea's. Anna quickly pulled her hand back, glowering down at the culprit. After a moment, she stood up, tugging down on her shorts. "I'm going to go grab something to drink. You two want anything?" she asked, already knowing their answers.

---

Johnathon sped through the crowd of dancers, water bottle in hand. He didn't drink, didn't feel the need to stop thinking or lose control. That and he didn't particularly enjoy the feeling of being hit over the head with a baseball bat the next morning. He'd only gotten drunk once in his life, and that was enough for him to decide he wanted nothing to do with alcohol. But that didn't stop him from going to parties.

He stopped when he saw Angelica with a small group of seventh years. She had been too far back in the group of kids he had helped lead here, but he now knew what people were talking about when they said there wasn't much left to the imagination. He blinked a few times before darting over there, smiling broadly. "Nice party, innit?" Before he let any of the girls answer, he started speaking again. "Anyway, there's this thing going on upstairs and we need more players for a good enough game." He clapped his hands once before and without saying goodbye, he darted back off into the crowd and disappeared.

"Aw, did my sarcasm hurt your feelings?"

Ea was off in his own little world when Anna's hand suddenly touched his. The boy pulled back as if she was a viper and looked ready to jump out of his skin. Which happened to be beet red on his cheeks. However, once the shock wore off, he seemed irritated as he yanked the rebellious Moxy away from Anna. "I am so sorry, I don't know what's gotten into her..." The young man said, still blushing and not liking a moment of it. But Ea's irritation didn't have that spark of anger it usually did. It was more flustered and embarrassed. This was because he'd touched (even if my accident) Anna's hand. It caused the odd sensation of butterflies in his stomach, something rather new to him. What on Earth was going on wit him? Whatever it was, Ea liked it. Good luck trying to get him to admit that though.

Feeling odd and confused by the sensation in his abdomen, Ea almost didn't hear Anna's question. But when he came to senses (or close enough) Ea said "Sure, whatever..." in a distant tone, as if his mind was clouded. It must have been for him to forget that his flask was likely to be the only drink in the entire place that wasn't spiked with excessive amounts of alcohol and that he seemed not to care. 'What in the name of Merlin's Beard is going on with me?' he wondered fretfully.

Angelica had almost drained her cup of punch and was contemplating going back for another when Devi responded to her compliment. Smiling at Devi, but looking beyond her to the punch bowl, Angelica had nearly wandered away when she heard Devi's next statement. "I like your thon - dress." She whipped her head back around to look at the Hufflepuff, eyes narrowed, lips pressing together, her entire face contorted into a glare. To make matters worse, Moira began to laugh. Angelica tried to remember who had been in the group she came in with, and she was fairly certain Moira hadn't been among them. Which was better for the both of them.

Stepping closer to Devi, Angelica looked straight into the other girl's eyes and lowered her voice as she said, "You'd do well not to mention that ever again." Her eyes flicked over to Moira, who was no longer laughing, but instead complimenting the color of her dress and not her undergarments. "Yes, well, I know it is." She stepped back from Devi, giving the girl a once over. "Unfortunately, the same can't be said for you and zebra print," she said to Devi, a smirk appearing on her lips.

Devi was vaguely aware of the fact that Moira had started laughing after her slip up, and the blush on her face grew more intense. Raising her eyes to look at Angelica, she immediately dropped her gaze back to the floor when she saw the glare she was receiving. Then Angelica stepped towards her and Devi took a step back, cautiously looking up the meet the other girls gaze. She wished she hadn't as she managed to stutter out a reply. "I-I didn't mean to say anything, honest." She was growing more aware of the heat burning away on her face, and she thought Angelica was finished with her when she made a cheap shot at what she was wearing. "Cagna." She hissed before she could stop herself, thankful that she had chosen to insult the girl in something other than English. She took a small step towards Moira, looking over at her nervously. "Even if I don't look good in zebra print at least I know better than to make myself look like I belong on a dirty street corner." she said just loud enough for the Gryffindor to hear. Angelica's insult had been small enough for her to brush it off, but it was the glare that was getting to her. She was determined not to let it sure that it hurt as much as it did.

Seamus laughed at Morgan's question. "Is she ever?" He watched through the crowd as Angelica stepped up to the Hufflepuff and spoke to her. It was impossible to hear of course, but the scene didn't look very friendly. Seamus took a healthy sip of punch. Girls so often played nicely with one another.

Then, from the corner of his eye he caught his date. Swiftly he turned his back to her, facing Morgan head on. "We should dance. Promise to keep the chaste six inches apart. I'll- well I won't spit on it but the thought's there." He grinned. Morgan was one of the few people he would keep that promise to. He could say it was because they were prefects together, professional and all that, but mostly he knew she could take him.

When Angelica stepped close to Devi, Moira moved forward, her hand reaching for her wand. Luckily, it was just a threat. She didn't really feel confident practicing magic after taking a few shots. She flatly watched as Angelica brushed off her compliment and insulted her friend. Alright, enough. She opened her mouth to speak when Devi turned to her and murmured. It was hard to hear over the music, but she got the gist. Moira lifted her eyebrows, smiling again. "I think you look fabulous Dev. Don't worry about her."

Johnathon floated by, mentioning a "thing going on" before disappearing again. Keeping her eyes on Angelica she asked Devi "Want to check that out? I think I'm done with this scene." She gestured vaguely in the Slytherin's direction.

Chiara, who seemed to have been dazing off for most of the time, seemed to perk up when Anna mentioned ‘something to drink’. She had said yes rather enthusiastically, and the Ravenclaw looked at her skeptically. At the pace the other girl was drinking at, she’d be sure to be drunk fairly quickly. Anna made a mental note to keep an eye on her. Even if they weren’t close friends, she didn’t want to see anyone taking advantage of her, which did occasionally happen at these things. Her attention turn to Ea when he spoke, sounding far off. His answer was a little curious, as she had been expecting him to say no. He was the one to toss the shot of fire whiskey Chiara had given him away. Deciding not to ponder on it, she nodded before heading off towards the drinks table, having the force her way through the crowd.

After she had fought to reach the table, she set the bottle of fire whiskey she had had down and went to looking for a bottle of something a little…stronger. After a moment’s search she found what she was looking for, a content smile now on her face. The only thing she found different about magic and muggle parties was the type of alcohol that was offered. Vodka had always been her favourite at muggle parties, and there was a drink similar to it in the magic world. And she’d take what she could get.

Holding the bottle close to her, she quickly got another shot of fire whiskey for Chiara, and a cup of punch for Ea. From what she could tell, it hadn’t been spiked yet, though she was sure it was going to be soon. She made her way back over to the stairs slowly, in order not to spill anything. Once there, she handed the shot to Chiara(who downed it soon afterwards) before sitting back down on the stairs and handing Ea the cup of punch. With an impish grin on her lips, she leaned up and whispered into Ea’s ear. “It’s not spiked. I checked.” Leaning away, she turned so she was facing the dancers and took a quick drink from the bottle.

------

Johnathon continued to spread the news about the ‘thing going on upstairs’. Some of the party goers went right along with it, while others looked at him distrustfully and demanded to know what this ‘thing’ was. He didn’t much like telling people that it was an old game with stripping thrown in. It turned quite a few of them off from the idea, and he usually felt creepy asking people to join. He preferred letting them find out what it was themselves…and not being in the area when they did.

He had just finished telling a few ex-students about the game upstairs when he spotted Seamus and Morgan out of the corner of his eye. Anna would kill him if he told Seamus anything about the game. Which was exactly why he started to head his way over to the other two seventh years. “Hullo Morgan! Hullo Seamus!” he called before he reached the two. Before the other two could get a word in, he was talking again. “So there’s this thing going on upstairs if you two are interested in something a little more…exciting.” Unlike the last time, he waited for them to respond to what he had told them.

"Aw, did my sarcasm hurt your feelings?"

As Anna walked away, Ea began pondering his confusion as his fingers ran through Moxy's fur whilst the ferret lay curled and snoring in his lap. The sound was barely audible with the thumping of the music. Despite the fact that Ea could feel the vibrations in his bones. A thought entered his mind briefly , hoping that the party-planners had been smart enough to know to put up an sound-proofing spell on the shack but this distraction was swept out of his mind like how you swat away a fly that's buzzing in your ear. Without making it look like he was too troubled, Ea attempted to wrap his mind around what was bothering him. Sure he was trying to change, but he didn't expect to be smiling so quickly. Especially since it was a painful process.

It was Anna. Anyone could see that. From the moment he'd started talking to her at the lake, Ea had been feeling and acting so strange. What was it about her that made him behave so... nice in want of a better word. But she wasn't the only thing that seemed to stick inside his mind no matter how much he wished it wouldn't. What happened in the forest with that monster dog still sent a small jolt up his spine. He wasn't afraid of some big dog, that wasn't the case at all. It was those eyes, those haunting eyes that made his heart race.

Luckily the memory was shoved away the instant Anna arrived. For once he felt a bit glad that she was so distracting. He even smiled. A small reluctant smile, but a smile nonetheless. And this time, it took a while for him to stop. When she told him the drink wasn't spiked, he almost laughed. Ea's wall of fire seemed to be becoming smaller and less hostile. "Thanks." he said before taking a sip. To his relief and pleasure, he found that she had indeed gotten him something that wasn't spiked. He guessed it may have been the music turning his brain into mush, but he was sort of enjoying himself, sitting there and almost belonging. He looked at what Anna was looking at and suddenly got a crazy, and obviously stupid idea. If he was going to try this changing thing, he may as well push his own boundaries. He took a deep breath, placed Moxy on the steps and stood up. "Anna" he said, trying his hardest not to blush and look only semi-interested (both failed attempts). "Wanna dance?"

"Well, I guess you'll just have to go into your wee little emo-corner and have yourself a cry then."

Angelica had considered her confrontation with Devi over when the Hufflepuff said she hadn't meant to say anything. She opened her mouth to inquire what the two girls thought would be going on upstairs when Devi hissed something at her in a different language. Angelica wasn't sure what it meant, but it was probably Italian. She had spent time in Italy when she was younger, but she couldn't remember what the word meant. Moira complimented Devi, and the two of them left, seemingly to head upstairs. Angelica looked after them blearily, the alcohol she had consumed starting to affect her. "Yes, well," she called after them, glancing around to see if anyone had noticed Devi mentioning her unmentionables, "cagna right back atcha, Devi!" She glared at the girl's backs as they disappeared upstairs. She glowered in the direction of the stairs for a few moments more, before it hit her. She didn't remember what cagna meant, not exactly, but she knew the word had negative connotations. Narrowing her eyes at the staircase, she pushed her way through the crowd and ascended the stairs, slowly and carefully. The last thing she needed was to fall and make herself look even more stupid than she had in the underground passage.

Angelica reached the top of the stairs and caught a glimpse of a zebra-printed skirt peeking out of a doorway at the end of the hall. Devi. Angelica was going to find out once and for all exactly what cagna meant, and she didn't care how. She strode forward, coming up behind Devi, and was about to say something when she caught sight of what was happening in the room. "Well, what's this then?" she said, grinning.

Anna continued to watch the crowd of dancers, once again bored. She could see a few people she knew that she hadn’t seen in ages, and she was trying to come up with a reason to excuse herself. Although she did enjoy Ea’s and Chiara’s company, she didn’t want to be around them the rest of the night. She came to the parties to socialize with people she hardly saw, and meet others. It was one of the main reasons she hadn’t wanted to accept Ea’s proposition to go with her to the party – she didn’t want to be tied down to one person the entire night. Pushing the thought out of her mind, she took another generous drink from the bottle, already starting to feel a slight buzz from the drinks she had had. She was wondering how long it would take for her to be completely smashed when Ea suddenly stood up and faced her, his cheeks red. The Ravenclaw opened her mouth to ask if something was wrong with him when he asked her to dance. Anna tried not to let her displeasure show on her face. She could already tell she was going to be stuck with one person the entire night, and by the amount of people already heading upstairs, she’d also be missing whatever strip game they were planning. “Sure,” she replied, smiling the best she could. Looking away from the Gryffindor, she hid the bottle underneath the stairs, made sure Chiara was alright, and stood, straightening out her shirt. “You lead the way.

Thanks, Moira.” Devi murmured, glancing from the redhead over to the Slytherin. Johnathon drifted by then, saying there was something going on upstairs and leaving before Devi could ask what this ‘something’ was. Though she doubted he would tell them, even if she had asked. The boy seemed to like surprises. Moira asked if she wanted to check it out, and Devi nodded. “I’d love to.” she replied, taking one last glance at Angelica before turning and going towards the stairs. Her friend caught up with her quickly, and when the Hufflepuff heard Angelica’s retort, she laughed. It was apparent the other girl had no idea what she had said, and Devi planned on keeping it that way. “She’s lovelier than usual.” she commented, then pushed the encounter with the Slytherin of her mind.

Brushing past the Ravenclaw girl sitting on the bottom step and the Gryffindors next to her, she climbed up the stairs, holding onto the rail. She followed the hallway, glimpsing into each room as she walked past. The only one occupied was the one near the end of the hallway, and the people in it were huddled around an old board game, some of them missing clothing. Devi’s eyes widened, and she backed up. Right into Angelica. The Slytherin asked what was going on, and Devi stepped to the side, allowing a better view. She was fairly certain she was no longer interested in joining in.

"Aw, did my sarcasm hurt your feelings?"

Ea was rather surprised when she agreed to it. After all, he hadn't made a good impression. Then again, when did he ever make a good impression? He wasn't even sure how to behave around people much less attractive girls. But he'd try his best. "Right, well... " he said sheepishly before reprimanding himself internally for it. He walked over to the dance floor and found that people cleared a path for him, not wanting to set him off. After all, it'd be a shame if he burned the shack down just because someone had trodden on his shoe. Everyone looked at him funny too, shocked not only to see him at a party but dancing. One girl even examined her drink and tossed it away, positive that is was drugged. Murmurs of intrigue and bafflement spread through the crowd only barely audible over the music. Ea, tired of having all eyes on him, gave them a vicious glare that made them avert their eyes uncomfortably.

Ea looked around at the other dancers and saw all the guys grinding with a girl, who would push her undulating hips against his in a rather provocative way. 'How on earth do you start grinding?' he wondered. Was there an instruction manual or something? Did you just jump right into it? Ea wondered if he should just grab her hips but thought better of it. He may as well be honest. "I haven't the slightest idea what to do." he confessed loudly enough so that only she heard.

"Well, I guess you'll just have to go into your wee little emo-corner and have yourself a cry then."
