+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Assuming that Kaoru and his ex-roommate had gotten into a disagreement, Dae-hyun decided not to press the topic. After all, they had only just met, and if it was something that Kaoru wanted to talk about, he would probably bring it up again himself. "Nah, it was...just someone who wanted to meet up with me later. Nothing big," he said with a shrug of his shoulders, wondering if he had made a face when he'd looked at his phone. By what most people said, he was pretty expressive, even though he usually didn't realize himself that he was making faces. Feeling the phone vibrate in his pocket again, Dae-hyun ignored it completely, pretending that he hadn't even felt it and instead concentrating on Kaoru. "You know, if you need help whenever you decide to repaint, you can give me a call. If I don't have work or something, I could lend you a hand with it." While they weren't quite friends yet, Dae-hyun wanted the two of them to get along well, and hoped that he could give Kaoru some help when he needed it.

Chuckling at the obvious joke, Dae-hyun said, "Well, you might want to strain your eyes too badly or you'll go blind from my amazing star power." Even though he hadn't hit the mainstream yet, Dae-hyun still hoped that one day they would be playing to stadiums that had sold-out completely because of them. It was his current dream, and always seemed just over the horizon. However, Dae-hyun watched as Kaoru's faced changed from almost smiling to nervously angry. Taken aback by the boy's shouts, Dae-hyun wondered if he should stay any longer. That tone in his voice sounded dangerous, and Dae-hyun had heard horror stories about what mentally unstable people could do, even ones that seemed normal enough. Taking a step back as he took his shoulder off the wall, Dae-hyun seriously considered making a bolt for the front door.

"Uh, okay then. You, uh, let me know if you change your mind. Umm, I really should return that call, so...I'll see you later." As he moved towards the door, Dae-hyun heard a soft request from Kaoru, and something about the pleading tone made him look around. The way the boy hugged himself and looked at the ground so sadly sent him on a guilt trip for trying to leave so quickly, and so he took the key with some reluctance. "Yeah. Sure thing," he said just as quietly, and went to the room his host had pointed out. Inside he found a mess comparable to a hotel room after one of their concerts if the entire mosh pit had been held there. Seeing a broken chair sitting at a weird angle and almost everything in the room scattered around crazily, Dae-hyun grabbed some pins he found on the ground and looked around for the jar. Finding it in several pieces, he picked them up carefully, trying to figure out if he'd gotten them all. Finding one last, long shard against the wall, he picked it up gently and set it in his hand with the others.

Leaving the room and locking it behind him, he handed the key back to Kaoru and said, "These are what you wanted, right?" However, as he handed them over, the larger shard slipped across his palm, leaving a shallow yet bright red streak in it path. Wincing and dropping the few other pieces left in his hand, Dae-hyun grabbed his own wrist and cringed in pain. After a few seconds, he looked down and realized a few drops of blood had run onto the carpet. "Ah, sorry!" he said, licking the wound quickly and trying not to let it spill again. "Look, I'd better go now, but I'll see you later," he said with some urgency, hurrying to the front of the house again and leaving as quickly as possible. Hurrying across the street, he continued sucking at the blood and wondered what might have happened had he stayed any longer.

Once he'd found the bandages and antibacterial gel, Dae-hyun rinsed his hand in the kitchen sink for a minute, watching as the water went from crimson to pink to clear once more. Finally drying it off and strapping on a few bandages, Dae-hyun was thankful it hadn't been very deep. However, as he stared at his hand, he suddenly tensed up and remembered their concert that night. it wouldn't affect his singing, but he was also their lead guitarist. The only other one in the band who could play guitar was a rhythm guitarist, and Dae-hyun doubted he could hold his own at the forefront. Cursing Kaoru for being such a weirdo, Dae-hyun paced back and forth for a few minutes as he tried to think of a possible replacement for him, at least for the concert that night. Stopping in the kitchen, he reached in to his pocket and pulled out his cell phone again. Staring at it and sighing, he flipped it open and dialed the last number that had called him, listening to the ringing tone and hoping no one would pick up after all.

Kaoru Masako

...Within the мση†ħ of ₳prїℓ, Love is §мéℓℓїηġ §ωéé†ℓy...

Kaoru felt shaken by the way he acted, screaming at the gorgeous boy. He didn't want the other to leave, but he knew he must've frightened the poor man. He saw the anxiety in him, wanting to leave at that moment. Though, his heart seemed to skip a beat as the other had accepted his request, taking the key from him to enter his room. He heard the slight rustling, the sound of glass... Oh that's right, he went berserk in that room didn't he? Sighing quietly, Kaoru looked up timidly to Dae-hyun as he exited the room, handing him the broken glass. Red had caught his eye and he looked down to see Dae-hyun was bleeding. His eyes widened slightly; his beloved was bleeding?! Before he could react, however, Dae-hyun apologized and had run out of Kaoru's home

Kaoru slowly stepped off the couch's arm, bending over to pick up a few shards of glass. Finding the one that had cut Dae-hyun, he put the piece to his lips, holding it there as he put all the other pieces on the small table. Kaoru closed his eyes as he stood in the room, his head lifted up. He spat out the blood shard of glass onto the table he kicked it over with a loud scream. His hands clutched his head and hair on either side as he screamed before he ran into his room. The disturbed young man slammed himself onto a wall several times, bruising his shoulder and arm.

"Why do I have to be such a freak!?!" He cried, sliding to the floor. He saw a few more pins on the ground and picked them up, sticking them into his arm, grinding his teeth. "Ow... Ow...!" Screaming at the pain of the needles, one at a time he pushed the pins as far as possible into his arm, a few tears forming and slipping from the corners of his eyes as a reaction to the pain. He whimpered, his tears beginning to overflow. With at least ten pins in his arm with only the ball-tips showing and thin streaks of blood coming from each, Kaoru stood up, holding his bruised and pinned arm tightly. He was shaking slightly, his arm visibly having convulsions.

Kaoru walked into the bathroom, stepping in a puddle of water along the way that he didn't bother to clean up from before. Draining the sink from the old water, he refilled it, letting it also over flow from the edges. He dipped his head into the cold water, holding onto the sink. He stayed under the water until he couldn't breath, pulling out to take a deep breath. Part of his hair was sticking to his face. Turing off the facet, he took a towel and threw it on the floor, letting it soak up the spilled water. He felt the stinging numb feeling in his arm. He rubbing his forearm, his hand gliding over the pins carefully. An idea had struck him and quickly he ran into his room and to his desk, logging into his computer.

Searching the internet, he found all the items he needed. He ordered most of everything from the same place, so thankfully it would all come in by tomorrow... The others should too, but you never know. He would do all he can to help himself seem less of a freak to Dae-hyun, and all he can to make the beautiful man happy. While he was at it, he logged into his work account and e-mailed the supervisor.
'I don't think I'll be able to work... I have a horrible cough and I'm losing my voice.'
Simple, yes, but He knew it would work. Now he had all the time in the world to sulk about his strange behaviour and cry to himself about scaring his lover away.

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Hey," Dae-hyun heard the familiar voice say on the other end of the line. "Were you busy or something? I didn't think you had work today."

Sighing and reweighing his options, Dae-hyun finally lied, "A friend needed a hand with something. I need a favour, though," he added quickly as he heard the other begin to respond. After a brief silence, Dae-hyun vaguely explaned what had happened to his hand, leaving out as much as he could while still getting his point across. "I know you weren't set to play tonight, but we'll need someone to step in for me."

"What about Shawn?" the other asked after a thoughtful pause, sounding a bit unsure.

"Honestly, I don't think he can step up to this yet. Maybe if he had a week to prepare, but not on such short notice. Look, you don't have to sing or anything, I've still got that covered. I just need you to fill in on lead guitar. I would really owe you a favour in return if you could." Walking from the kitchen and into the living room, Dae-hyun flopped down on his couch and stared at the ceiling, thinking of who else he could call if he got turned down.

However, soon enough there was a satisfied chuckle, and the veiled demand, "You'll make me your woman tonight?"

Shifting his position on the couch, Dae-hyun said, "If you mean be with you after the show, then sure. Small price to pay. Just don't expect any special treatment like dinner or sleeping over."

"You're such a rotten wolf," the other said angrily, the trickle of running water in the background. "But sure, I'll do it. Even if you're going to short-change me after everything I always do for you. You'd better come over my place now then, and run me through the songs before the concert starts. I'd better see you soon." Wish a sharp click, the conversation was over, and Dae-hyun reluctantly pulled himself up off of the couch to stretch. Glancing at the clock on the wall, he headed out the door without a second thought and drove off.

Pulling up at a crappy apartment complex, Dae-hyun locked up his car before heading inside and up the steps to a place he'd never wanted to return to. Knocking on the door, he heard several different locks clicking open in turn and ran his good hand through his hair.

When the door opened, he walked in casually and glanced around for a place to sit. Setting himself down on a cheap, plastic chair pulled up to the coffee table, Dae-hyun asked, "Do you ever plan on moving out of this dump and into a real house? As much of a partier as you are, it would probably do you some food to try living somewhere civilized for once in your life." Watching as the door closed again and a guitar was pulled out from behind a well-worn couch, Dae-hyun felt no guilt for the ensuing awkward silence. Catching his host staring sadly at the carpet, he said, "Let's start, then."

For a few hours the pair did nothing but practice the pieces that the band had planned for their performance that night. Any conversation was solely about the music, with Dae-hyun directing and singing along to the sound of the guitar. "Could I have something to drink?" he asked as soon as his throat started getting scratchy, not wanting to hurt himself anymore before their performance.

Besides a disgusted grimace, the only response was, "There are plenty of cups in the kitchen." Sighing, Dae-hyun got up and headed into what he remembered being the kitchen. Except for a few empty wine coolers on the counter, everything looked the same as the last time he'd visited. Grabbing a dry cup from a wire rack, he filled it from the sink, took a sip, and topped it off before returning to his seat. "Want to go over everything in a straight run? I think we got all of the songs down pretty well, so there isn't really anything else to do."

A few successful run-throughs were enough to convince Dae-hyun they were ready. "Well, we've still go an hour before we even need to head over there. Want to grab dinner or something?" he offered, feeling his stomach rumble.

"No, I think I still want to practice for a little while longer. I'll be there on time, though," the guitarist promised, not even getting up to open the door as Dae-hyun left on his own.

Stepping out into the rancid hall, Dae-hyun first noticed the horrifying stench lingering throughout the entire building. At the corner of his eye, a roach dashed across the floor and slipped under a door. Looking back once more, Dae-hyun shook his head before heading back to his car and driving off.

On the way to dinner, he tried to prep himself for the show, singing through the lyrics and deciding on what outfit and what make-up he would wear. However, the thought of such things reminded him of Kaoru and what had happened earlier that day at his house. Dae-hyun knew that Kaoru's problems weren't his business unless they became better friends or Kaoru asked for help, but it bothered him that his neighbor was such an interesting person and yet someone he couldn't seem to make himself comfortable around.

Pulling in to the parking lot of a small diner, Dae-hyun hopped up the steps and through the door in seconds, although he was in no rush. Taking a seat at the counter, he fiddled with one of his rings while waiting to be served. After ordering, he looked around a bit, curious as to whether or not anyone else he knew stopped there much. However, the only other people there were two old men chatting tiredly at the bar and a punkish girl picking at the remnants of a bowl of spaghetti. Her dyed green and blue hair and nose ring made it obvious she was bound for the concert, but if she wanted to catch the whole show, then she was wasting precious time having a staring match with her unwanted noodles.

Returning his attention to the hot bowl of thick soup he had ordered, Dae-hyun happily tucked into it with a spoon as the rest of the world melted away. Even though he wasn't a gourmet, Dae-hyun never let anything ruin his meals, as he found food one of the few things in the world that would never loose its enjoyment. His speedy metabolism and moderate appetite kept him from ever putting on much weight, but he always had preferred having a few simple pleasures around for those times when nothing else seemed to be going his way.

As soon as he'd finished, he began to head out, but stopped at the door and glanced over at the girl briefly. "If you want to make it in time, you're going to have to hurry up," he said with a smile, and went on his way. Driving off once more, Dae-hyun made his way to the club they had been booked at with a little more life in his cheeks and a little less weight in his heart.

Kaoru Masako

...Within the мση†ħ of ₳prїℓ, Love is §мéℓℓїηġ §ωéé†ℓy...

Kaoru whimpered, wiping the salty tears from his face. He couldn't feel his arm any more. He stood up, clinging to his limp arm and pulled out the pins he shoved into himself. The blood overflowed and quickly he ran into the bathroom, looking in cabinets to find his medical kit. He was shivering from pain, disappointment, and anxiety and he tightly and unsteadily wrapped his arm. 'At least they're thin...'he thought to himself.

Feeling better now that he vocally let out his frustration, he headed into his room and crouched on the floor in front of his window. He peeked outside and saw Dae-hyun. At first his face beamed with small delight but was soon replaced with faint displeasure, seeing he was only heading towards his car to drive off. The strange young man let his head drop, hitting it to the sill of the window. His hand pressed against the wall as he made small whines and whimpers.

Standing up, he couldn't help but scream again as his self-esteem dropped dangerously, not that it was very high to begin with. He forcefully kicked his door, breaking it as well as damaging the hinges. He took the closet object to him, which happened to be binoculars, and threw them out of hi room, slamming it against the wall. Blindly taking more random objects, he threw them out of his room, breaking glass and damaging the coffee table in the room. He kicked the already broken chair out of his room as well, still screaming and he flailed back and forth in a pace.

Kaoru ran from one end of the small room to the next, over and over, running into the desk and wall a few times. After twenty or thirty times around, Kaoru stopped at the wall, his hands both pressing onto the cold concrete. His forehead also pressed against the façade, somewhat sweaty and out of breath. His mind was full of disarray, his eyes wandering back and forth from one empty space to the next.

Now what does he think of me? Will he ever come back? Will he ever look at me again? Does he think I'm crazy? Is he scared of me? Does he hate me? When will he be back? Will be move away from here? Will he ever come back? Will I ever see him again? Why is he gone? Where did he go? Why did he have to leave?

Kaoru's mind was overwhelmed with obsessive questions, concerns, and troubles. He thought of something, though... He looked to his window and bit his lip lightly, nudging himself from the wall. Heedlessly he darted out of his room and towards the outside door, but stopped in his tracks. He inhaled deeply and turned the handle, running outside by his garden. He slid onto the grass, staining his pants, but he paid no mind. He goal was set now, and not even the passing of cars going by would change him!
Until he heard one drive by... Kaoru jumped high, crying out but quickly covered his mouth to muffle the sound. Breathing heavy, he coaxed himself and went back to his plan. He looked at all his flowers and picked a few of them. A couple of roses, some asters, and a few delphiniums of various violet and pink tones.

Gathering them all in a bundle, he ran inside and into his bathroom, looking hard to find a container or holder for them. Finding his collection of jars, he took one and filled it with clean water, placing the flowers inside. He bolted back outside and ran towards the street, but stopped before he could set foot onto the road. He whimpered and look to Dae-hyun's house, holding the jar of flowers. He looked to the neighbour's home and sighed. walking over to the house beside his, he quietly knocked, rubbing the back of his neck.

The door was opened by a young girl, about a teenager. She froze as she saw Kaoru. The man didn't make any eye contact with her, only showed her the flowers. "Can you put these on the porch across mine?" He asked, setting the flowers down on the steps. He ran off, dodging into his home and slamming the door shut. The girl, a little shocked bit her lip, looking down at the flowers. She picked them up and turned back, yelling inside that she will be right back. Quickly, the young girl dashed across the street and placed the flowers on the new neighbour's steps before jogging back to her own home.

Kaoru was back in his room, watching happily as the girl had fulfuilled his random request. He laid on the floor, facing the window and closing his eyes. The man wanted to sleep, but he could only lay quiet and still, instead.

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Late that night, at about one, Dae-hyun's car pulled back into the driveway perfectly. As the lights and engine shut off, Dae-hyun stepped out and stretched before popping the trunk and pulling out a guitar case with one hand. Yawning as he slammed the trunk closed again, he flipped through his keys looking for the one two his house, when something on his front steps caught his eye. Bending down, he saw it was a small jar of flowers. There wasn't any card, but he recognized a few of them from earlier that day when he'd been looking over Kaoru's garden. Most people on the block had the exact same bushes or flowers in their yards and gardens, but Kaoru was one of the few who seemed to have taken the time and care to grow much more beautiful and worthy plants. Smiling slightly to himself, Dae-hyun guessed what it was about. The way he'd acted earlier, Kaoru probably wanted to apologize for his yelling and for Dae-hyun cutting himself.

Unlocking the front door, Dae-hyun stepped through and flicked on the lights before dropping the guitar on the couch gently. Turning around and picking the jar up off the steps, he brought it inside with him and set it on the coffee table. From the kitchen he grabbed a saucer to sit under the jar, just in case any water started dripping. Sitting down next to his untouched guitar, Dae-hyun stared at the flowers, still thinking about his strange new neighbor. While Kaoru did seem like the kind of guy who would fit right in with his friends, his phobia or leaving his house seemed crippling. Tilting his head back and running a hand through his hair, Dae-hyun felt horrible for holding Kaoru's mental problems against him, but he had heard so many horror stories from friends about people like that, it was difficult not to imagine Kaoru being dangerous.

Shaking his head, Dae-hyun grabbed his guitar by the neck and hauled it upstairs with him. Checking his boa briefly, he changed out of his concert attire and into a plain T-shirt and sweats, which were his choice for sleepwear. Laying down on the bed, he thought over everything that had happened that night. It was surreal not coming home from a show drunk, but he'd been keeping an eye on the others so much that he hadn't gotten any time on his own to grab something from the bar. Even after the show he'd been so occupied that he hadn't had a single drop. Remembering everything so clearly and having to face everything he'd done felt terribly uncomfortable, and he remembered why he'd made such a habit of getting drunk at shows. Flipping onto his side, Dae-hyun was still running through the various events as his mind drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Dae-hyun heard his alarm buzz and slammed the button angrily. He'd forgotten to turn it off the previous night, and never worked on a day right after a concert. However, no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't fall back asleep after that. Sitting up in bed, he rubbed his hair and was surprised to find he didn't have any headache at all. Remembering the previous night, he realized that he had come home sober from a concert for the first time. Shaking his head and groaning, he wished once again that he'd been drunk enough to at least forget the party afterwards. Stepping onto the floor, Dae-hyun changed leisurely, not having anything important to do that day, and checked on his snake once more. Adjusting her heat lamp, he headed down the stairs.

In the kitchen, everything was silent as always, but for once it actually bothered him not to have anyone else around. Making up a bowl of cereal, he thought about what he could do to the pass the time, other than continuing to organize things around his house. While he wanted to ask Kaoru to hang with him, he was still worried about the way the man had acted yesterday, and couldn’t decided if it was worth the possible drama or not. As he cleaned off the table, Dae-hyun glanced into the living room at the flowers and figured that at least asking couldn’t hurt. He would thank him for the flowers and see if Kaoru could muster up the courage to leave his house for the day. Worse case scenario, Kaoru would just say that he couldn’t come out and that would be that.

Heading back to his room and changing into day clothes, Dae-hyun headed out of the house, locking the door behind him. Staring hesitantly at the destination across the street, he finally shook his head with vigor and walked across confidently. Knocking on the front door, Dae-hyun had to wonder what had happened to Kaoru after he had left. After all, there had been flowers on his doorstep, and now in the daylight he could clearly see that they had come from his eccentric neighbor’s yard. However, Kaoru was a rather strange person. For all Dae-hyun knew the man would not even open the door for him after the previous day’s events. From what he could remember, he had bled on his carpet a little, even if it had been Kaoru’s fault in the first place for asking him to pick up those big shards of glass. As his mind wandered to the room where Koaru had sent him, Dae-hyun began to think about what might have happened there as well. It had been a mess, but it didn’t look like anyone had even tried to clean it up. Had Kaoru done all that out of anger? Had something else been in the house that he had tried to defend himself against? Or had the other man just gone mad?

            ((yay~~~!! =^^= ))

Kaoru opened his eyes as the slightly bent blinds filled his eyes with sun. Groaning, he twisted the blinds as shut as possible, though something caught his eye. He quickly peeked through, seeing Dae-hyun's car was back. He smiled to himself, and even noted his jar was gone. He leaned on the window sill and tried to push himself up, only to cry loudly in pain from what he did to his arm the night before. Whimpering, he clutched his arm. How stupid it was to do that! It stung, it felt sore and numb, and even the inside of his arm hurt. He tried bending his arm, but it didn't work. Biting his lip, he attempted to pull up his arm, despite its constant twitching. Unable to pull it up more than an inch or so, he gave up, still whimpering pathetically.

He sighed and left his room, heading into the bathroom to try and change the bandages he wrapped himself in. Able to carefully take his time, and with a certain amount of pain, Kaoru was finally done changing the gauze over his arm. He quickly took an outfit that was hanging from a rack and changed into that. Staring into the mirror, he drained the sink and refilled it before splashing his face with the cool water. Drying himself, he looked into the medicine cabinet for his makeup and razor.

Although he wasn't very good with his opposite hand, he was able to carefully shave himself and even apply thick makeup around his eyes and having spikes going at odd angles, a couple of which formed his eyebrows. Attempting to put in contacts, he ended up poking himself instead, but was able to put them in finally. Spiking his hair a bit, he smiled before adding colour to his bottom lip faintly, he left to his room to put in piercings and several earrings. He had a large collection of them, especially because he always lost them. Searching, he also found armwamers, which were perfect to hide his self-inflicted wound.

Kaoru, after pampering himself awkwardly with his other arm, look to the window and kneeled in front of it, curiously wondering if he will see Dae-hyun. He grinned as his wish was fulfilled and he saw that gorgeous boy leaving his house; and oh what better news, coming across the street. Wait… s**t!! Kaoru turned and quickly bolted from his room to pick up the items he threw. He dumped them all in a corner of his tiny room and locked the door, putting the key in his shorts' pockets.

Jumping at the sound of knocking, he turned to the door. He hesitated before going to it and tightly wrapping his hand around the handle, though at an odd angle for not being used to using that side. Turing the handle clumsily, he peeked outside, his heart stopping for a few seconds. He smiled and pulled the door open, partially hiding behind it. God, he felt like crying. He felt so insecure about the other never coming back.
"H-hi…" He said timidly, his white, target eyes eyeing Dae-huyun carefully. "How… was the show?" He asked, his hand tightening around the handle behind the door.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Smiling a bit to see that Kaoru was fine, Dae-hyun shrugged at his question and said, “It went fine. Not the best I’ve ever done, but...it was good. How about you? How was your afternoon?” Although it sounded a little bland, Dae-hyun thought it only polite to ask. After all, he had caused a bit of a scene the last time they had seen each other, and he was starting to feel a little guilty about it. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, Dae-hyun resisted the urge to look past Kaoru and into the house. What did he expect to see there? Another mess like he’d seen in that room? It ashamed him to think that he was falling into the common way of thinking that every strange person had something seriously wrong with them. He was jumping to conclusions, something he’d promised himself would never happen.

Tapping his foot lightly, he looked back up into Kaoru’s eyes and noticed that he was wearing a lot more make-up than before, and he even had some strange contacts in. Liking the new look, Dae-hyun felt more comfortable around him, since many of the people he saw at their concerts were done up more like this. Relaxing his shoulders, he said, “Hey, I’ve got the day off today, and no real plans with anyone, so I was wondering if you wanted to hang out or something. I mean, if you’re not busy.” Even though Kaoru had a job, Dae-hyun had no idea what kind of hours he worked since all of it was over the phone, and it didn’t seem as though the man went anywhere else on his own or had anyone else to spend time with. Although Dae-hyun doubted he could get Kaoru out of his house at all, it was worth a shot to see how far the man would go.

As he stood there waiting for a response, Dae-hyun suddenly remembered the flowers he had found on his doorstep and wondered if he should bring them up. Finally deciding it would be rude not to thank someone for a present, he said, “Oh, and, about the flowers...thanks. They look really nice in my living room.” Feeling a bit awkward at thanking another guy for flowers, he quickly continued onto a different topic. “I don’t know if you’re into it, but they just released another one of those weird documentaries into theaters again. This one’s about the White Witch of Rose Hall, if you’ve ever heard of her. Should be kind of interesting.” In the past year there had been a strange boom in the popularity of horror documentaries, and one director in particular had begun a series based on famous women in history who were best known for doing horrible things. The first of the series had been about Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed, and had gone on to win several different distinguished prizes for its in-depth look and entertaining presentation. Dae-hyun had seen all three in the series and was excited to see the latest installment every time a new one was released.

“You know, there’s a movie theater in the mall, and its not far. I could drive us there if you wanted to go.” Even though Kaoru didn’t seem to like leaving his house, Dae-hyun hoped that the offer of being driven would help to ease his fear, as it seemed simpler than walking. Also, the prospect of the movie theater might help. Although they were often crowded and the film Dae-hyun wanted to see was sure to be popular, it would be dark and everyone would be quiet while the movie was playing. If there was anywhere he could get Kaoru to go, Dae-hyun felt the movies would be his best bet. “Ah, by the way, I uh...I like your make-up today. It’s pretty cool.” Even though it wasn’t something guys normally talked about, Dae-hyun thought it might make Kaoru feel better to know that his efforts to look good were noticed, even if it was coming from another guy and not some cute girl.

Kaoru Masako

...Within the мση†ħ of ₳prїℓ, Love is §мéℓℓїηġ §ωéé†ℓy...

Kaoru released the handle of the door, relaxing more now, and gently held onto his sore arm, trying not to flinch on contact. "It… went fine…" He said quietly, not wanting to scare the other man over his masochistic experience from that night. His smile faltered at the offer he was given, but being so infatuated, he couldn't say no. "I'd love to!" He said almost desperately. Just the two of them, together and possibly alone for a long period of time. The thought almost made Kaoru's knees buckle, but he kept himself from doing so. He looked down a few times and tugged a loose strand of hair nervously, trying to think of something to say; something they could do.

No, he wasn't busy… He called in for work; he shouldn't have to do anything until tomorrow, at least. And everything he ordered should be at his home by that time, too. As Dae-hyun spoke again, he looked up and gave a sheepish smile, trying not to act shy. "I.. I'm glad you like them. Uh-uhm… E-every… flower has a meaning to it. Like.. Like red roses.. That means you love someone…" Kaoru tried not to sound so awkward, but what he said sounded much better, and a lot less flirtatious, in his head. He knew it was a strange hobby for him, growing flowers and collecting butterflies, for a guy at least.

At the mention of the movie, Kaoru knew that story, and made it slightly uncomfortable. He wished it didn't, but he couldn't help but shift slightly at the mention of the so called White Witch. "I… I can try…" He whispered, not really liking the idea of leaving either; but he'd try anything for the man he loved! He visibly flinched at the idea of driving and took a few steps into his home, his face turned. "I… I don't know… I can try… I.. I… I-I have to clean up a bit first…" He pigeon-toed his feet anxiously, ignoring the compliment he received. At a subconscious attempt to run his fingers through his hair, he moved the wrong arm and yelped loudly, quickly taking hold of his wounded arm as he kneeled on the floor. "Son of b***h!" He screeched, clinging to his arm, hissing through his teeth. How stupid am I?!

Standing up, his face showing how much pain he felt as he held his arm, he bolted to the bathroom, leaving the door wide open. The sudden pain made a few scabs start to bleed again and he quickly slid off the striped armwarmer. Taking alcohol, he poured the contents carelessly onto his arm and took a towel to clean. he wrapped the towel around his arm as he sat on the floor, pulling his knees to his chest. Burying his face in his knees, he whispered to himself, "It hurts so much… Why does it have to hurt so much…?!" The shock of pain caused his eyes to water, letting a few droplets escape his eyes. He whimpered and tightly held himself, wishing he hadn't gotten so angry to mutilate his arm. He had forgotten that his dearest idol was at his home.

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Glad to hear Kaoru accepting his invitation, Dae-hyun wondered if he could actually be doing the guy some good by helping him get out of the house a bit. By the sound of his voice, Dae-hyun could tell it was a rare opportunity for him, and was glad he had offered. It wasn't very often Dae-hyun went to the movies, and he hated going by himself. However, not many of his friends went to go see movies at all, which he thought was a real shame. Films were so unique in their format, and there were so many classics, cult favourites, and new hits that he could never run out of new things to see. Being able to take Kaoru along with him would be nice, since no one else ever seemed to want to go.

Hearing about the flowers, Dae-hyun chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, that seems to be the only anyone ever knows. Although I think that yellow flowers mean you're just friends? Something like that. I'd heard that all different kinds of flowers having different means when you talk about them symbolically, but those are the only two I really know. It's a shame too, I'm sure they have all kinds of interesting things to say. What were the names of the ones you gave me again? Maybe I'll look up their meanings later." Even though Dae-hyun wasn't very big on botany, knowing that the flowers he'd received might have had another meaning piqued his interest. Perhaps Kaoru was trying to tell him something that he couldn't say outright. In any case, it was just another fun thing to distract him for a few minutes, nothing more.

However, hearing the hesitance in Kaoru's voice at the mention of the movie, he offered, "We could see something else, if you wanted. Doesn't really matter," he added with a shrug, hoping that Kaoru didn't let him drag him into a movie he didn't want to see. After all, what would be the point of going to see a movie if they weren't both enjoying it? Trying to think of what other movies there were out at the time, Dae-hyun couldn't really come up with anything, but knew that they could always decide in the theater lobby if they needed to.

At first Dae-hyun couldn't understand why Kaoru got so nervous as soon as he mentioned cars, but remembering what he'd been told the previous day, Dae-hyun couldn't believe he'd been so insensitive. "Ah! I'm sorry, I forgot. We can walk, if you'd like. It isn't that far, so...it wouldn't be a trouble to walk there at all! After all, it would be good exercise, huh?" Chuckling nervously, Dae-hyun hoped that he hadn't offended Kaoru too much already. "Ah, okay," he said as Kaoru explained that he needed a little time. As he was about to offer a hand with cleaning, Kaoru fell to the ground and screamed. Stepping back a bit out of shock, Dae-huyn was about to say something when Kaoru ran from the door, shutting himself into another room. Panicking, Dae-hyun tried quickly to think of what to do, but his brain was so addled that he couldn't think straight.

Walking outside and crossing the street, he though to himself, 'Okay, I can't handle this. Now this is something I can't take. Not my problem. This is getting to weird.' In the middle of the street however, his feet froze as the two halves of his brain began to wage war. 'What if he's hurt? What if he needs help? I don't want to abandon a neighbor...' 'No, I don't need to get involved in this. I have my own problems. This is too much!' 'What if he's hurt!?' 'It's too much drama!' 'Cally!' A blurry image flashed through his mind and Dae-hyun snapped out of his confusion.

Running back to Kaoru's house, he went inside and hurried to the door he saw Kaoru shut himself in. "Kaoru?" he called in hopefully, trying to keep his voice steadied as he imaged what might be waiting for him on the other side. "Are you okay? Do you need some help?" he asked, praying that he would receive an answer of any kind. Trying to slow his rapid breathing, Dae-hyun shook his head as his heart slowed once more and he began to think clearly. Was he overreacting? It was difficult to tell, especially when he'd never been in that kind of situation before. Kaoru was certainly the strangest person he had ever met, but he didn't seem like a bad guy. Honestly, he just seemed like he needed some help, although he had made it quite clear that he was against it. Still, if no one else was there to look after him, Dae-hyun found himself surprisingly willing to keep an eye on Kaoru, if only for his own personal soundness of mind.

((pathetically emo Kao-kun needs luff~ as well as my crappy post Dx ))

Kaoru sniffled, trying to hold back his tears. His arm burned from the alcohol, and now his wraps were soaked. Cursing under his breath, Kaoru struggled to try and find more wraps. He barely had enough to wrap a fraction of his forearm. But then he heard Dae-hyun and began to panic. He didn't want to scare him off, but he did need to wrap his arm. Tensing for a moment from the pain, his voice broke. "Y-yes... Please help..." he called, leaning on his unharmed side, his head hanging low.

Now what? He wondered if he would be pressured to leave for the hospital... He just needed more bandages, that's all! But to freak out or worry his beloved scared him. It made him feel so broken and confused, he let out a scream, his hand burying itself in his hair. He sunk to the floor, pushing himself as far into the nook between the bath and sink as possible.
"Please don't leave me...!" he begged, hiccupping. "I need more gauze... And ointments..." he whispered, wondering if Dae-hyun heard him. He shook his head, as if trying to convince himself he was doing everything wrong.

Kaoru pressed his head against the side of the cold wood of the sink's cabinets, his makeup running badly down his emotive face. The pain dulled into numbness and his quiet mewls ceased, leaving the disturbed Kaoru quivering. He slowly pulled off the gauze from his arm, tossing it aside. His arm was a deep colour, a mix of red and purple. A trembling hand traced his veins lightly, making him give another miserable whimper. His toes curled tightly as he looked up desperately. "It hurts so much..." he complained, blinking away more tears. He turned his face away, flushed and stained.

"Please, don't be scared of me..." he whispered, calming down quickly. Sniffling, Kaoru wiped his nose and cheeks. He felt horrible for making such a bug scene, and even more so for Dae-hyun having to witness any part of it. "I'm sorry." he said bluntly, closing his eyes. Heavy emotions always made him feel so fatigued but he reopened his eyes so he wouldn't fall asleep.

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Relieved to at least hear Kaoru's voice coming from the other side, Dae-hyun leaned against the door and let out a deep breath. As long as Kaoru was still speaking, it meant he would be fine for the time being. Happy to be of any help he could, Dae-hyun was about to ask what Kaoru needed when he heard a pleading call. Frowning, he replied softly, "I'm not going to leave you right now, not unless you need me to. I'll stay with you for now, okay? So don't worry about it." Hearing Kaoru's requests, Dae-hyun asked, "Are there some in the house somewhere? Or do you need me to go get some from the store? Just tell how much and what kind and I'll be back quickly." Although he didn't want to leave Kaoru alone in such a state, if he really needed medical supplies, then Dae-hyun had no choice to leave the house and retrieve them for him.

Leaning himself up against the door firmly as he waited for a response, Dae-hyun had to wonder if this happened often for Kaoru. He had no idea what had happened, except that it was obvious Kaoru's arm was in pain and now bleeding, but it seemed like something the man was used to if he knew exactly what he needed to deal with it. Of course, he might just have first aid training or something else that would explain his preparedness, but Dae-hyun couldn't shake the feeling that there was something else wrong.

Hearing a soft mutter of pain from Kaoru, Dae-hyun hesitated with his fingers around the door handle. If his neighbor was in pain, he wanted to be able to comfort him and be as useful as possible, but on the other hand, Kaoru was such a private and nervous person that it was hard to judge whether or not going in would be helpful. If Kaoru was embarrassed to be seen like that, Dae-hyun couldn't imagine it doing either of them any good. "You don't need to go to the hospital, do you?" he asked tentatively, wondering if perhaps there was a simpler solution to all of this. On top of everything else, he wasn't used to having to deal with these kinds of things, and especially not with someone he hardly knew. Kaoru seemed like a good guy, but he was really a handful. It was troublesome to keep offering him help when he so seldom accepted it, but there was no way Dae-hyun could turn his back at that point. He had gotten too far into the other man's personal life.

Feeling his pocket vibrate, Dae-hyun was reminded of his cell phone, and he pulled it out with haste, almost dropping it. Flipping it open and skimming over the message, he responded quickly with a plea for assistance. If there was anyway the other could lend a hand and go buy the things Kaoru needed, then Dae-hyun wouldn't have to leave his side at all. Closing the phone and sticking it back into his pocket, Dae-hyun flattened a palm against the door and tried to hear Kaoru within. Hearing nothing, he asked, "Hey Kaoru, what happened...to your arm? That's what's hurting, right? Didd it get hit on something?" In the past Dae-hyun had given himself a few bumps and bruises from being drunk, and he'd seen others hurt themselves much worse in the same situations. Kaoru didn't seem like a drinker, but he was certainly nervous and seemed a bit clumsy. There was always the chance he had just slipped and hurt himself accidentally.

The more Kaoru spoke in that pathetic voice, the more Dae-hyun wanted to just walk away and never deal with him again, and the more he knew that he wouldn't be able to do that at all. it was a pain to have to put so much emotion and effort into helping someone he hardly knew, but they were on the path to becoming friends, even Dae-hyun could see that, and he didn't want to abandon someone who so obviously needed him. Never in his life had someone depended on him for more than a night's company or for help moving their stuff to a new apartment, and now here he was trying to keep someone from possibly doing a lot of harm to himself. Shaking his head and sighing with some annoyance, Dae-hyun felt his heart squeeze and scratched his head a bit. Kaoru certainly was an oddball, but Dae-hyun just couldn't bring himself to abandon him. "Don't worry, Kaoru. I'll be right here for when you need me."

...Within the мση†ħ of ₳prїℓ, Love is §мéℓℓїηġ §ωéé†ℓy...

Kaoru felt his heart warm at those reassuring words. He slowly slid his legs flat on the floor, carefully holding his arm. "I... I'll be fine... I just need some bandages for this..." Kaoru shivered for a moment, sitting up more properly. Using his good hand, he ran fingers through his hair. He didn't like the idea of going to the hospital. Although, for once it was just a stubborn dislike of the place, not one of his hundreds of fears. "That place is too clean..." he mumbled. He had to admit, it was a little scary how clean those big places were.

            Hoping he hadn't frightened Dae-hyun, Kaoru sighed. "Can you... Come in and help me start wrapping this, too? If it's... Not too much..." he asked shyly. At least with the gauze he had left, he could stretch it and wrap half of his arm. "I'm really sorry... Dae-hyun..." Kaoru felt a pit in his stomach, wishing he hadn't called for the help, praying silently the man he loved so dearly didn't think of him as a freak. Maybe another present could fix this. What to get him...? Some more flowers should help, maybe a nice cologne. Speaking of flowers;
"Uhm... Asters... Delphiniums, and some pink roses..." he mentioned seemingly out of the blue, embarrassed slightly.

Kaoru hesitated to answer the question he was asked. "I... Hurt myself, yeah..." he admitted. "I didn't mean to scare you away, yesterday..." he couldn't lie to him, but Kaoru wanted to stay as far away from the truth as possible. Mentally unstable and masochistic? Just a lovely combination.

"Can we... Still see the movie?" You idiot, that's a stupid question! Nibbling on a lip ring, Kaoru wiped his face again, trying to clean off the make up that had ran. He took hold of the edge of the sink above him and pulled himself up, careful not to slip from the water in the bowl. He looked in the mirror and cleaned unwanted make up stains before putting more on in the faded areas.

Holding onto the sink, Kaoru looked into the mirror. "Thank you.." he whispered, looking down before stepping away from the sink. "I don't mean to drag you into this crap, I just..." Kaoru stopped talking, shaking his head. "I'm fine! I'm fine now... You can... Leave if you want." He said quietly, leaning on the water filled sink. As much as it hurt to say it, he thought Dae-hyun wouldn't want to stay after his episode- his second episode.
