Edward Cullen - the epitome of the perfect man?
Oh, yes - he is so sweet, and caring, and thoughtful, etc, etc, etc.
Hell no! He is an abusive, obsessive, control freak!

>>Did it specifically say it was a wooden headboard?
It could've been metal.
I don't know.

As so the meaturity matter, was Carlisle alwasy compassionate? Was Esme always motherly? I doubt it.
Those are the traits they brought over from the human life.

That would have required Bella to actually be mature as a human.

You know, I became a second mother to my baby sister after my father passed away (because my mother wasn't worth a damn as a parent). And I can assure you, even though someone takes on a more mature role for their age, they're far from mature.

Taking on some responsibility =/= maturity beyond ones years. It just means you help out.

Besides, what did Bella do around the house that showed she was mature for her age, anyway? A teenager cooking is far from a rare sight as one would think. :/

Actually, the traits that they bring over into their life as a vampire become their gifts, like Edward's abilities to read people became his ability to read minds. They thought that Bella's "maturity" or whatever, was her gift. Then they realized she was a skill, and that her "maturity" was just her speshul snowflakeness.

>>If the first speculation was that her maturity was her gift, then that would mean it is an enhanced skill.
Maybe she just has two enhanced skills: maturity and her shield.User Image

Unless you want us going down the "Bella is a Mary Sue" route, we're sticking with one ability. And the shield is a love shield, not a maturity shield.

And I reiterate: for maturity to be her vampire trait, she would have actually needed to be mature.

And even if she were, maturity is not a gift, it's an act of personal responsibility.

Turning into a vampire would not turn that into a special gift/enhance it.

>>Maybe it's her humanity.
Like, she still has too much of her humanity left in her and she finds that killing a human, even for their blood, is disgusting and wrong.
Maybe it's because since she decided to become a vampire, she knew she would be drinking animal blood. The others didn't know about that life pre-change so maybe it affects how you think post-change.User Image

And the other vampires didn't know anything about humanity? We've got an empath, a doctor, and a mother among that group and you're saying they didn't know or have as much humanity as a 17 year old airhead? A 17 year old airhead, I might add, who spends a good majority of her time either whining about something inconsequential or obsessing over and fantasizing on a guy who is specifically NOT human, and really shows that she couldn't give 2 cents on any "normal" person who actually IS human?

Her shield is the "special gift" that was enhanced in her transformation. I highly doubt maturity has anything to do with it. The motherliness just came out of nowhere really. One second all she wants if for Edward to bed her constantly and as soon as she finds out she's preggers, all of a sudden she is motherly and fights for the life of a hybrid-demon-spawn baby that can kill her while it's still in the whom. Logic says abort it, her motherly instincts say protect it.

Or, it could simply be that since the Cullens were known to be 'vegetarians', she simply adopted that lifestyle of choice.

I'd agree except in the case of logic saying anything, since any semblance of logic had been missing since the first book.

Because since when does Bella listen to logic? neutral

I'm sorry, but I have to side with satanicwatermelon on this one: if anyone--vampire or otherwise--drinks animal blood, they're not vegetarians.
