That sign is full of awesome Piercedpixie. Woodworking tools frighten me a bit, I keep imagining they'll eat my hands up or something equally disastrous. And I'm not one to shy away from power tools.
It's not today, but for the past few days My dad has been making three new beds, almost doubling the gardening space I have. It's not anything I've done but it benefits me. I get to grow more vegetables! biggrin

Well, I learned about the strange accessory known as the boot bracelet, and decided to make my own (call mine a boot belt though, to make it feel less feminine). Here's an example of what one looks like, when I take a picture of mine I'll put it up instead. They don't have any real practical purpose, but they kinda remind you of spurs without the jingle. I think they look neat, and I imagine others would think they look neat. If I improve my skills, especially if I teach myself some Native American seed bead patterns, I can really make a killing off this. I've seen some boot bracelets/belts sell for upwards of $300, though the one in the photo sold for only $12.95, because mine is double stranded I might be able to command the same price myself, at least it covers material. 'Course, if things hit rock bottom in the economy, I can't imagine people having the surplus to be willing to buy or trade for such a silly thing. Still, it's on hand in case I need it. I picked up a copy of "Back to Basics" a while back. So now I have an on hand quick ref on how to do numerous basic skills. Though, I wouldn't call building a log cabin basic.

I can't wait to see yours. I always draw my characters with boot belts. I remember first seeing them in an X-Men comic and I totally dug it. I haven't actually tried wearing them myself, maybe one day.

I checked out a book from the library that's all about cartoon character drawing. So I'm going to buy myself a fresh new sketch book and re-teach myself to draw. Not that I don't draw well, but I've become stagnant in my drawing and I need to brake out and expand myself.
I think this can apply to anything. It's good to learn the basics again. Sometimes we get so stuck on doing certain things one way, that we miss out on better ways to do them.

Screaming Wombat I picked up a copy of "Back to Basics" a while back. So now I have an on hand quick ref on how to do numerous basic skills. Though, I wouldn't call building a log cabin basic. I forgot how sexy cowboy boots are. whee That book sounds really interesting - I would love to learn basic, everyday stuff that you usually don't get a chance to. Miss-Shade I checked out a book from the library that's all about cartoon character drawing. So I'm going to buy myself a fresh new sketch book and re-teach myself to draw. Not that I don't draw well, but I've become stagnant in my drawing and I need to brake out and expand myself. I hear you. I too am in a rut - got very stale at drawing the same thing over and over with no new creativity or poses. We should team up and do a draw off, or something. Do make sure you share your new creations. I have this book called Manga Matrix which is entirely about developing unique characters. It works well even if you're not into the anime style.

Ooh, what a pretty looking book! I'll have to check it out sometime! The one I'm reading is Creating Characters With Personality . It's really good so far, it has assignments and famous illustrator bios. Yeah, we start an art share or something drawing related in the art subform. @Onicoe: of course that counts.....cuz that's so cool that you can do that!

I just got that Creating Characters with Personality book last month biggrin I loooooove it. I want to be a character designer or concept artist and work for Disney, so it's obviously a good choice for me. That Manga Matrix book looks really cool too.... can you give me a little book review Pirhan? :3 I might just have to get it if it's worth it...

Where I live the city is trying to save an old stagecoach depot but the builders aren't very careful with what they waste. So, I go over and pick up there used plywood pieces out of there discard pile and am making my halloween decorations out of them. Right now I'm on the coffin but I may have to buy some wood. I can't get a piece big enough for the bottom.

I should've listened to my 12 yrs old self and gone for animation instead of graphic arts.

wolfen26 I am going to cooking class on monday. I thought I would try it out. I also learned that mistletoe is a parasitic plant. smile My parents have mistletoe in the trees in their yard, this year we're planning on cutting some out to sell for extra Christmas cash. Today I learned that there are 3500 calories in a pound, and that over 90% of Americans don't know that. I also learned that the diet industry is a $40 billion industry in America. Yeah, I'm in a health class.
