My boyfriend lives in England, and he takes the same medication as I do. When my doctor prescribed it, I noticed it sounded familiar... and that's because he told me he was on it.
Makes me really sleepy. It knocked me out today for about 6 hours... after I had already had about 7 hours sleep last night. eek

I've been on Paxil, but it made me faint because it lowered my blood pressure.
So now I'm not on that anymore.
Now I'm on lexapro, abilify, and zyprexa.
Lexapro for the depression/bipolar.
Abilify and zyprexa are both mood stabilizers, but the zyprexa makes you tired and the abilify makes you super-stimulated. They balance each other.
I've never met others who are also on the same medications as I am.. it's really interesting.

I'm wondering why I didn't get to try out a newer anti-depressant this time... I've tried 4 and they didn't help me much. But... I get extremely depressed a lot, and I don't think just treating the mania or whatever is going to help with that. That's what I worry about... being suicidal... but I guess the doctor knows best. gonk
I'm still quite confused about this whole thing... blah.
Sorry if this is a useless post.

Abilify seems to be working. Thing is, I get a dazed, stoned feeling every night. Not always good.

I'm currently on Wellbutrin XL and Xanax.
I was put on Wellbutrin when I was 19 (I'm 21 now) after being on Zoloft from when I was 15-19. I had to stop taking the Zoloft because I'd hallucinate and I'd get so extremely hyped up on it. The Wellbutrin had my hyped up as well, so Xanax was added to calm me down. I take that as needed. I take a larger dose when I need to knock myself out for a few hours.. like whenever I have one of my fits. Smaller doses are just to calm down and to help me sleep sometimes.
I'm not on any mood stabilizers or anything because my family doctor and my psychologist are in disagreement over whether or not I even have bipoolar (or cyclothymia for that matter). My psychologist has been seeing me since I got rid of the complicating celiac disease factor (gluten reactions in my case have extreme depressive symptoms) a month or two ago and she says I have either bipolar or cyclothymia (long story there x.x) ..but my family doctor is more familiar with me beforehand so they both see different things.

I don't remember how many different medications I've been on, but I do remember Paxil.. that was the first one I ever took to help me cope with anxiety.
It was fine until I decided to go off it... ugh.. Withdrawls are not our friends. xp
Then there was another medication I was on just last year, but I can't remember what it was called. That stuff had the WORST side effects ever. I became unable to keep down any solid food, so for a week I couldn't eat anything solid without vomitting it right back up.
My psychiatrist didn't believe it was the medication doing that to me, but as soon as I went off it I was able to keep down my food again, no problem.
The last one I was on, also can't remember it's name, slowed my metabolism down so in 2 weeks I shot up from 125lbs to 150. My poor metabolism has never been the same since. x_x
Personally I think I'm better off without any medication. Some people say you NEED to have it, but that's not true. I'm doing fine without it. ^_^

I've been on:
firstly, - Lexapro (stopped) - Seroquel - Trileptol (stopped) - Lamictal - Zoloft - Zyprexa - Concerta
I stopped being on the Trileptol because my parents decided they didn't want me having such a cocktail of pills each night (same with the lexapro; my dumbass doctor though thought that i could be only on seroquel and lamictal and that ended up with me in the hosipital..).. blah blah blah. 200mg of lamictal a day haha that put such a strain on my head... headaches ;_; were terrible.. then they vanished like a cockroach in light.
Concerta! I love concerta. Its been SUCH a help (not to mention I lost 15lbs on it!).. I really notice a difference in my concentration and self-esteem.. so strange.

sweatdrop My hubby and I left the psychiatrist's office tonight with an Rx for my daughter. We're going to try giving her Depakoke but we'll be stepping it in, of course. She's currently taking Adderall XR for ADHD and Abilify.
I swear, all of these medications make me nervous. Anyone notice any strange side effects with Depakoke that I should watch out for?

Alright, one question, does anyone here take Topamax? If so, does/did it give you really, really, really strange dreams? The dreams are fine, I was just wondering if its a common side effect of the Topamax to have vivid dreams? I rarely ever dream, that I remember, besides that...I'm on 50mg per night, as of a week ago yesterday. Yeah....^_^?

I was told that she could have stomach pain and such. The psychicatrist also mentioned that Lithium could sometimes lead to hypothyroidism (which already runs in our family so we don't want to increase the risk there) and polycystic ovary syndrome. (Article here on PCOS Psychiatric Times) I feel like saying, "huh.... Anything else?? stressed

A couple months ago my mother was taken off her anti-psychotics. What I want to know is WHY?!?! She's been slowly slipping back to her old self since then, to the point that I can't even talk to her now.
I'm very frustrated because as her oldest child, and an adult, everyone comes to me to discuss this with me...but what am I supposed to do? The doctors won't discuss anything with us except her husband, and he's in denial that there was ever anything wrong with her in the first place.
Two days after she was taken off the meds, she had an episode. Why do the doctors do this? I have no clue what's going on, yet I have to try to deal with it and try to explain it to everyone.

Lithium: Avoid. It killed my short-term memory, which hasn't come back over 2 months later, and my long-term is shot full of holes now.
