Kurayami yawned and turned away from the door, walking through the narrow corridor back to his home. He wasn't worried about the theif at all. He had no reason to worry.
Moving across the room, he filled his cup once more and sat down at the table. His soup had cooled off quite a bit, but he finished it anyway, and downed the rest of his water. He put his dishes in a tub funcitoning as a sink and moved back to the bed, replacing the armor on to his shaped body. The seams came otgether once more, and he moved loudly ot the middle of the room, the metallic sound bouncing off the close walls and ceiling. Turning the lights off, he moved out of his home and back into the alley.
Looking around, he saw that no one was near. He moved out of the alley and thorugh other, narrow allies, back to the scene of the showdown. He couldn't help but wonder what had happened.
His armor groaned and clashed wiht every step when he moved out of the shadows. However, when he moved through the, he became a shadow and was deathly silent...

Euphoric Ghost "Here's the video feed from the store camera," the woman pulled a little disk from her pocket and slipped across the table, "It's weird only a few seconds to the see the guy, then it all went dark. The cameras are fairly new, and I got it checked, nothing's wrong with them." Sam watched the video patiently. "I'll take that if you don't mind," he said after seeing the feed. "He probably had a magnetic disrupter beam," Sam said to make them feel better. "Knocked out your system temporarily." After looking around the store, he could be done with the place and snoop around outside. He was looking for, goodness help him, a basketball player. If the guy showed up in a crowd, he would show up in a crowd if you know what I mean.

Euphoric Ghost "We know you're there." A gentle voice reverberated from the door, but something was unusual with it. "I have come to retrieve you. Do not try to escape. Resistance is futile." The words reached an empty flat. A half-full bag of garbage and a still-warm clothes cleaner machine were all that were left to show evidence anyone had been here recently. But Mock wasn't stupid. She wore gloves, always. Even before she'd started sneaking into unwelcome buildings, she'd worn gloves. The city was dirty, her mom had pounded into her head when she was small. So there were no fingerprints to show, no identifying information. Mock had become conscious of the cameras after listening in on her follower's thoughts and finding he had video evidence of her. Every time she went somewhere she nudged the cameras to look away from her, very covert-like so it looked like they were just moving like normal. She'd also wiped down the place, checking for stray hairs and picking up all the tiny particles of dust with her mind and gathering them together and throwing them to the blustery night the biscuits had dreamed up. She was going some place new. She had sensed her little stalker's exitement at locating her, and found he was planning to catch her in the morning. So she left. By now she was far from the apartment tower, seeking a good pigeon to snitch from. Peeking in and out of people's mind to see who had already had a bad couple days, she had mercy. She found a rather overweight man who had a woman on his mind. His wife, it seemed, hadn't made him breakfast, and so he had been angry with her, yelling and storming around their home before he'd left. He was too distracted by the reprimanding voices in his head to notice Mock subtly bump into him. She found a decent amount of credits. And as she bought a bit of food she recalled an old children's story about a man who robbed the cruel and rich to feed the poor and downtrodden. ((Don't worry, Ghost, I'm not going to god-mod away from you every time. Mock's just a teenager, she gets clumsy. ninja 3nodding ))

She couldn't get to sleep at all that night, nothing worked, not even pills, and so now Jay resorted to going on a walk. She gave a heavy sigh as she got dressed qucikly and grabbed her keys off the counter. It was then that she heard the knock, some what faint for it was on her neighbor's door otherwise she would have been more weary. Jay let her keys jingle as she stepped out into the light of the hallway and squinted slightly until she got used to the lighting. As she fumbled with her keys to lock her room door she looked over at the stranger and then down at her keys before replying to his authoritative call into the empty apartment, "She's not there....it's been about a day now." She spoke casually and nodded as the key and lock gave a satisfying 'c***k' and she plopped her keys away. After her business was done with the door she let her mind leak into that of the stranger, but all she could get was that he was a cop of some sort, "Oh...um, goodnight." Jay gave a friendly smile and turned on her heel and headed toward the elevators.

((Artemis: Yeah, don't godmode at all.))
After a few days...
The television, radio and internet mediums of news were blaring with the news of a serial killer roaming around the city. Newscasters stood in front of the apartment gates, dilapitaded alleys and nightclub bathrooms talking about those who had recently been murdered. Their bodies' were severly lacerated and most had bleed to death. Those who survived, were barely alive and blind. All the victim's eyes were cut. The name of the local gang Sharks, in all its other forms, kept on coming up. Andel Police Department had been taking its leaders down one by one, but it was all a ploy to make the people feel safe. More victims were being found.
The killer was described to be a tall man with a thin atheltic build. The surviving victims never saw him coming.
The APD were swarming the city streets looking for the killer. Their presence is quite noticeable. Security everywhere has grown. Crimes did drop with the significance increase, but the one they were trying to catch still couldn't be found. The toll number has reached 12 and it also has attracted the eyes of other groups. AGSA who already seemed to have someone already in the case, Samuel Wallace, is still tracking the perpetrator. But the Agency, with the information they've gathered knew that isn't enough information. Description may match, but a robber and a serial killer is distinctly different.
Kurayami may find it harder to hide.
Mock may find it harder to live.
Jay may just find it harder to sleep.
With a killer around...
((Yup, left it open, show of your creativity and I'll run with it.))

(thanks Ghost, I like the all-inclusive jump!)
Samuel had questioned a lot of witnesses. What he was most interested in was not the man's build, which he got a lot of vague descriptions of, but any indications at all that the man was a celestial. He thought that he was. What with the tapes and other electronic equipment being blacked out in some of the murders and some seemingly unrelated robberies-- Every one the man attacked had been surprised, even after the city had been put on alert and awareness was raised. He wrote a lot of reports and taped a lot of his interviews as soon as it became clear that a killer was on the loose. These were sent off immediately to his boss, and some edited versions of the reports he sent directly to the police agencies.
The police were combing their citizen files, running a probability tree to not only narrow down who it couldn't be (for instance, five year old Jimmy Stuart), but targeting the citizens that it was most likely to be based on descriptions and past actions. That meant that a lot of people were being looked at really closely, a lot of peope who'd had nothing to do with it and hadn't comitted a crime recently. Samuel noticed this and didn't care. Any thing that got him closer to the celestial murderer was a good thing: he had no concept of citizen's rights when it didn't involve him directly.
There were too many people to track. He wasn't the only agent on the trail of every whisper of magic. He also wasn't the best. That meant that he didn't get the highest profile list to track-- and next on his list was a teenager they called Mock, who certainly wasn't the murderer unless she could change her skin, but who might be the robber because a little bird had told them that she could screw with cameras. It sounded to him like some one just wanted to get the kid in trouble. But hey, if she was really a celestial, maybe she knew other celestials-- and a trail like that could still lead to the murderer.
Now he just had to locate her. He had a few pictures that looked like they hadn't been taken with her in mind, but had been compiled together later. He was pretty sure that two of them were entirely different girls. Great. Since she seemed so elusive, today he was concentrating his efforts on her at dusk and at night.
(Jay could run into him, or he could actually find Mock. Remember that she shouldn't know he's looking for her, and that he actually intends her no harm, not believing her to be either the robber or the murderer. He just wants information.)

The reports of a murderer did nothing but keep Jay on her toes. She took the extra apartment key out from under a loose block of wood in her door frame and tried to stay with large groups of people at night whenever she could. But all this hub bub wasn't her style, she kept her night shift at Horrific and took long walks when she couldn't sleep. Jay shut down the store for the night. The owner had told her that with times like these no one had to read about horror stories in books when all they had to do was pick up a newspaper.
She hadn't paid much attention to the police inquiries of those in her apartment building of the girl that had held the apartment next to her (Mock) cause the girl only had the apartment for about three days and it sounded as if she were a mere thief. As she looked up at the handle to pull down the chain metal that locked the store up she thought about how greatful she was not to be questioned for it might just end up in her using some mind coercion to get out of some things.
Jay put her hand up without really thinking and the handle to the chain metal fell into her hand softly and she pulled it the rest of the way down. When she realized that she was out on the street she looked around and was relieved to find no one of authority had seen her and she went to do her own investigating....of the more celestial nature.
(Note: She's on a look out for other celestials like Mock or even Kurayami maybe *shrug* who knows!)

((Sorry about the little wait, I had Homecoming last night. Is the murderer seemingly random? Is he just killing people in the streets? Or is he killing more upstanding citizens?))
Mock had lost her self-confidence boost. With a killer around and all this extra security everywhere, she was back to picking pockets for spare creds. She didn't think a camera could catch her picking someone's pocket, so she didn't bother them anymore.
She didn't bother them, but they were becoming her best friends. She tried to position herself near a camera when she found someplace to sleep, so that if she were murdered they could find the b*****d and hopefully string him up, too. And even though she'd heard he could mess with cameras, she was rather safe than sorry.
The name Sharks was coming up everywhere. Mockingbird was pretty sure that the guys she had...messed with...in the deca-mall had been Sharkies. But what did that matter now?

Kurayami sat against a wall, covered in a veil of dark shadow that the building was casting. He had seen the Sharks go by a couple of times, and a small girl pick pockets once. The news had spread through the slums like wildfire. He had a feeling that if he wasn't careful, the cops would pick him up for murder. Wondering if they could find him, he decided to keep a low profile for the time being, because by the description given, and the desperate need to make everyone else feel safe, the cops would choose him, most likely. So he had to keep himself hidden. However, he didn't intend on staying in his home, so he took to melting into a different shadow every afternoon to watch around and learn about the Sharks and how they worked.

((I'm not really required for your characters to meet, unless one of the characters is very deep into something, like being tortured in an unknown apartment or something. Just PM if you have plans. smile )) AGSA is a group of specialized individuals that collectively created one of the greatest information and semi-military group in the city of Andel. Even the politicians had to watch out for them since the group was independent from the government. They were the group that watched everyone. Now, it may seem to powerful, but with other government groups, everyone were checked and balanced. The President Mayor had power over AGSA, the agency had power most everyone, the council in turn chose the president and the people chose the council members. It was quite democratic, but it wasn't perfect. Politicians were still dirty. Though they never liked getting their hands dirty. Someone else had to do it. Sam's wrist communicator began beeping again. Though this time, a small grid appeared and the map of the city appeared with two distinctly blinking lights appearing. One was obviously him, besides the arrow that showed his name, it also showed the street he was on. The other was not far from him, just a few blocks. Four letters appeared with an arrow pointing to it. Mock The number of Sharkies swimming the streets had considerably gone down. The gang, which comprimised of a loose alliance between smaller gangs has lost several of its central figures. Most of them just didn't want to go for jail, especially for a crime they didn't commit, but no one would believe them. They have acquired the notoriety they wanted. A few even claimed to be the serial killer, but most weren't sure since the number of deaths were growing. These thugs knew fear as well. The Freedom Movement had set of several offensive political fronts at city hall. They claimed that the government under the nobles were still unfair. That the only the rich were being protected while they poor were left to the slaughter. The conspiracists of the group viewed that the government actually were sending out units. A group of killers to kill political enemies, but the victims really had no political value. There were no signs of Chrest. Either they were idle and watching, or they were good at covering their tracks. Isis had sent its own people to scavenge the area, and they had their own hidden agenda. The group knew that it was possibly a celestial murder who was on the loose, but none of them were detecting the presence of one. Its members were given orders to stop the celestial if it was one, but more importantly protect the lives of celestials. Jay through a psychic link with others from the Isis was told of a celestial nearby. The name was Kurayami, he had the ability to manipulate metal and shadows. The group has been keeping track of nearly every celestial in the city, and perhaps had better information over them. Information that Chrest and AGSA wants to get their hands on. Though it was not in any computer or was it ever written. Such information was kept within Isis psychics. ((All: From the news they still haven't found any link, except that more than half of the victims are young women.))

He was excited to finally talk to another celestial. He had come up against so many loose ends recently, questions that just led to more questions. It was good to meet some one who might know something. He just wanted his questions answered, dammit. He peeked around the corner and spotted a girl that looked about right. Then he checked his watch to make sure.

((Now, is Samuel the same agent who came to Mock's temp apartment?))
Mock nosed through a synth' food stand. She had a few creds and she was trying to sense if the vender was trying to scam a poor little girl. She was trying to see how old the food really was.
"Fresh as you're lovely face, young miss," he tried. Gesturing to a pile of juicy looking red apples.
She smirked inwardly. "Excuse me, young man? Don't get smart with me," she said, glaring at him and putting her hands on her hips, making herself look more mature. He faltered and stuttered, surprised by this. "Trying to flatter a woman of my age into buying your second rate food. Why, just because I have a young appearance does not make me some naive little twit!"
She turned on her heel and marched away with an indignant flip of her hair, trying to reach the nearby corner, so she could get around it and laugh quietly to herself.

(no, I dont think so. Samuel went to another apartment to interview an old lady-- and was prompty kicked out rofl )
She was coming towards him. Good.
Sam waited just around the bend, out of site of the vender but still out in the open. He waited for Mock to come in sight. "Excuse me, Miss," he said politely, "Or Ma'am if you prefer. Heh, quite a show you put on for that vender there. I'd like to ask you a few questions. I'm a collector, but I'm only interested in information. I'm not interested in getting any one in trouble who doesn't need to be in trouble, if you know what I mean."
Ok, from that intro, he could be AGSA or Chrest. Or Isis. Of FM. If she wanted to know which organization had her tail, she would have to stick around and hear him out a bit more.
Sam was a some what young man dressed as if he belonged on the streets, although of course that was just a cover. From his cover, he looked to be lower class but still with enough of a job to keep himself clean. Brown eyes, brown hair, and a thick build. Nothing really unusual about him. He meant exactly what he said about not wanting to get her in trouble-- that is, if she wasn't the robber. Not just any petty theft, but the robber that seemed to be connected with the muderer.

((I'm going to go ahead and post, since Penden and I have met. I want to see how this turns out.
Penden, Mock isn't going to realize he's with any particular organization. She's just a naive kid, and unless she was expecting it, she wouldn't come to that conclusion if any random person walked up to her. She doesn't always peek into people's minds, so she's not going to assume he's with one of the higher-up organizations.))
Mockingbird nearly ran into the stocky man, lurking around the corner. Wondering why he'd picked her, for whatever survey he was conducting, she thought she would have been more willing to answer if he'd just said, "Can I ask you a few questions?"
But whatever. Maybe it was a paying survey.
But, trouble, what was he talking about? Maybe he was looking into the murderer. Then she'd still be perfectly willing to help. One of her friends around the city, Shay, had been one of the victims, so she wanted to do whatever she could to help.
"Um, yeah. Sure, I'll answer your questions."
After all, he didn't look like a cop.

From what she had been told Kurayami could meld into the shadows and was under some investigating because of his abilities to use metals and conceal himself. She kept her mind open and listened to her surroundings as she walked down the street. Jay was careful to stay a good distance from a group of Sharks up ahead, she knew what they were like but they didn't scare her. Meat heads were all they were. She stopped abruptly at a darkened alley as she caught a piece of someone's thinking. Something about surveying and watching the Sharks. Jay turned and narrowed her gaze on a particularly dark spot and stood tall, "Kurayami, I take it?" She arched an eyebrow as she plunged her hands into her pockets and looked casually around to make sure no one was watching. If he wasn't there then she just made herself look like a crazy person but she didn't care what people thought anyhow.
