The cat girl stretched her arms high above her head allowing the her muscles to soak in the heat radiating around her feeling pleasantly relaxed and limber as she approached the group. The cumbersome pruner dangled from her fingers slapping against her arms, which were bare, revealing the eight to ten throwing blades sheathed on each arm.
"Heyla" Opaline eyes rounding a bit at the assault group, causing her lips to turn up in a grin. "The saying 'Be Prepared' has nothing on the colonists of Planet Masquerade. I brought my arsenal, some rope, and a pruner. That dead growth can invite a Forrest fire, we'll want to start clearing it out, even if nothing goes wrong."
Dropping down Trivii lounged at the edge of the pond, looking up at her friends. "This everyone? Are we just waiting on Sani?"

K'Dan nodded approvingly. "Preparedness is what separates the victorious from the dead. Well, that and luck." The experienced soldier in him, while loathe to consider it, forced the admission. He looked over at Trivii', flipping up his visor to clear his eyes. "Most of this is almost certainly overkill for a bug hunt, but you never know. And they say that nobody ever drowned in sweat." A shrug and a grin accompanied that one. "Although at this rate, I'm headed toward being the first."
He glanced through the woods again, this time with the naked eye, still seeing nothing. "I'd suggest we move out as soon as possible, since a fair number of us can not see in the dark. I'll lead off, and if anything shows up, I'll try to pin it down while everyone gets clear. I'm probably the best suited to taking hits, so get your asses down if things heat up, and let me take the fire. I'll be shooting and moving as fast as I can, trying to distract and make them think we're a lot more than we are."
Not that I think it will come to that, but it pays to have some kind of plan beforehand.

'I agree.' Trotting up to the group, the Aqua teen nodded and lifted her pack to her shoulder. 'I've got first aid covered. We can head out now.'
Smiling at Trivii, Saniya nodded then flicked a glance at K'dan.
'You want to take Point, then Haisyn and Ashy, then me and Triv in the back, we should all be able to play to our strengths.'

"Very well, I've got point." K'Dan turned to face the resting group, and smiled, his visor still flipped up to show his face. "Now, just a couple of basic things to cover, in case we run into something nasty out there. Probably not going to happen, but always good to be prepared." He gestured with his paw, a palm-open, arm-raised gesture, with his paw parallel to his body. "Now, this signal means 'Halt'. I'll only use it if I see something that I think I should check out more closely before we proceed." He extended his arm straight out, curling his paw into a fist. "This means 'Enemy in Sight.' If I use this one, I see some threat. Drop flat as quickly and quietly as you can, and we'll see if we can sort it out."
He smiled again, his usual good-natured self. "And always keep in mind where your team mates are, and where the targets are if we run into any. It's no good to run through your own team's line of fire because you got disoriented. If you become confused, drop flat and keep your arm up, and I'll make sure I get you as I'm falling back. We don't have enough force here to fight any kind of real battle, so if we run into anything, we pin it down and run the heck away. No shame in living to fight on better terms. 'Course, fighting a fungus is probably going to be REALLY boring."
He chuckled and waved off at the forest. "SatMap says that the dead spot was over that way, so we'll head straight off toward it, I'll try to keep us on as straight a line as I can. Make this one quick, and back for dinner." He flipped down his visor, world dissolving into artificially-coloured synthetic overlays as he once again saw the forest through amplified senses. Leaving his rifle slung, he looked behind himself to make sure that everyone was ready, and slipped into the shadows of the forest, his charcoal-toned light armour blending into the mottled shadows with almost eerie perfection.

"Idiots. The lot of them." he growled in frustration as he moved through the undergrowth slowly. Machete in hand, he chopped a branch or two from his way. "They want me to create workable potions and test things, but they don't have the time to bring in the things I need. I cannot work with nothing but empty bottles. Idiots."
Being an alchemist was all Graey Wrennamor- or Graey Wrenn as he had chosen to be called -had ever wanted to do. His family had traveled for generations from place to place when their own planet had changed too much for anyone to live on it. He was not even certain what race he was except that his grandfather had once babbled something incoherently about golden eyes and the gift of transmutation amongst them. All he knew was that he wanted to find the very elusive beast called the Perfect Epiphany of Knowledge. An elixir of immortality or a philosopher's stone would work quite as well but it was the knowledge itself of being able to do what all alchemists sought that thrilled him and pushed him onwards.
His golden gaze flicked across the blossoms in front of him, studying the shape, texture, color, and positioning before he dared to touch them. Yet soon his gloved hands reached out to caress them. Their color was such an intensity of violet that he leaned forwards to catch the fragrance. An instant later, he had stumbled backwards gasping for breath.
"Ugh... How can something so magnificent smell so awful." Then a grin split his face as Graey calculated the usefulness of the plants in front of him. "Of course. A stink potion. Bomb. Whatever. It could be useful. At the very least annoying to something attacking."
With a smirk, he dropped his pack to the ground, rummaging through for a glass container. Only glass would do as anything else would absorb the smell. Quickly filling it with flowers, he sealed it again and placed it back into the backpack carefully. Only five of the twenty containers were now filled, but then he was looking for specific things to pull rare earths or things to powder into dust or extract various elements from. An alchemist had to be selective afterall to find the very best ingredients.
But as the container went in, he reached into the pocket of the pack, pulling a pen and notebook from it. Writing down the location, atmosphere, and even season, Graey detailed everything he could. It would help him find them later. Moisture and condition as well as lighting were important and he jotted it all down after the information he had on the slightly iridescent white leaves, reddish needles, blue gravel, and yellow beetles he had already found.
An alchemist was only as good as his supplies no matter his skill. And he planned to be the best. He even had a listing of the things he had in the small lab he used. The chests, bottles, and pouches lined the few shelves he had. But the thing that irritated him most was that he had not spent seven years secreted away learning how to gather, identify, and separate ingredients as well as defend himself decently for nothing. There was power and wealth to be had by being an alchemist and it was that which drove him as much as the thoughts of knowledge to make the rarest treasures known.
But when shoved aside, Graey was close to exploding as his compounds sometimes did. So far no real accidents other than smoke and a minor hole in the ground where he had tossed something out the window to prevent damage to the lab. And his room. But he was quite determined, and after taking a drink of water, he began moving again after adjusting his belt a bit. It would not do to break the vials he had ready, but he might need to use them quickly. Most were simply toxic powders of some sort that would cause immediate pain and try to distract the creature from attacking. But one was filled with a particularly toxic venom. He would have to fling it and run like crazy to ensure he remained out of the dust spread. It was a last resort though two daggers and the machete completed his defense as his clothing did against the thorns and other things he ran into.
His mood shifted slightly as he began hacking in a different direction to go around the blossoms left behind. It paid to always be careful about not destroying his source especially when so much was unknown about it. It might lead him to the very elixir or stone he sought. For now he was cautious about such things.
He had barely taken a few steps knowing that the pond was nearby before he heard voices. Unusual. Normally he would have stopped and simply listened, but this day he had a purpose and he continued to work his way into the clearing around the water, stumbling out in front of them. Afterall, he could totally ignore them if he wanted to. He was used to working alone.
((I never really described him, but he's got long black hair pulled back, leather lacing, golden eyes, goatee, gray jacket, black vest, gray shirt, black pants, black boots, age 25 ))

The random mutterings of the new comer drew him through the underbrush. The steady slashes of the machete making the path, he closed the distance coming up behind the dark man.
The ground freezing around them both and the water in the man's flask as he cast a shadow over him.

He hesitated, a chill sliding down his spine. Graey glanced at the ground in front of him, blinking as his own breath could be seen in the air in front of him. Gripping his machete tighter, he stood up straighter, stiffening at the thought of someone or something behind him. He did not have to see the shadow to know someone was there. He could feel it and the hair on the back of his neck was standing straight up. Oddly, he was slightly fascinated by what he was feeling and he shivered again before shaking it off.
"Probably froze those blossoms..." he growled out in annoyance without even looking to see what or who was behind him. Then very slowly he turned to stare, eyes narrowed, but the weapon ready. His other hand slid to his belt very slowly towards the vials that were in the order he would use them. If he had time and a need.

K'Dan's paw snapped straight up into the 'hold' gesture he had spoken on not so long ago, and he silently dropped into a tight crouch, freezing in place. He had heard voices, he was sure. Someone was out there that was NOT the team. Ever so slowly he reached his paw down his side, thumbing the retention strap off the top of his holster. He drew slowly to avoid the telltale sound of the gun coming free, and reached with the other hand for the suppressor. Three quick twists snugged the can-like suppressor down on the end of the barrel, all done by touch while his eyes scanned the area, and he gripped the weapon in both paws, holding it muzzle-down.
He was sure he'd heard voices, and close. He used the eye-pointing command menu to select and activate his infrared helmet camera, imposing the display over his normal view, and raised an eyebrow in curiosity and slight consternation. Instead of the vague white haze of warm forest and a white silhouette of a sophont, he saw TWO figures, in the middle of a black (cold) field. Not sure quite what to make of that, he decided that his best option would be to simply lay low and see what developed.

Trivii drew up short at K'Dan's motion, tilting her head and scenting the wind, silvery ears folding back against her scalp.
Frost... something more, like leaves decaying on the forrest floor.... and a musk, the scent of some human or like species that she had never encountered before.
Taking half a step off the path and blinking pupiless opaline eyes at the new comer, she tread silently moving up ranks and gesturing breifly after being leveled with a militant glance from K'Dan.
Lifting a hand she gestured vaguely and tapped the side of her nose.

Looking down on the dark man from his impressive height he towered over the new comer by at least four feet. Armor seeming to have been crafted from the side of a glacier, face conceiled by a helm except for eyes that glowed the color or emeralds, a frosty fog surrounded him making him appear even larger that life.
The Saber glinting in his left hand, as frightening as the sweeping black cloak and horned centurian helmet.
Standing perfectly still he gave the new comer the chance to flee or fight, relishing whatever his decision would be.'

It was probably the most stupid thing he did in his life, but he knew with just one look that he was outclassed with brawn. That rather large wicked looking sword would slice him down before he got two steps if he turned his back on it. Even with the helmet covering the face the eyes said that much. It was not often he was faced with such, but he had learned enough fighting skill to know that fleeing nor fighting was the solution. He could do neither in this situation.
Carefully moving his hands away from his belt, Graey simply sheathed his weapon. Then he folded his arms to simply stare at the figure before him. He could feel the power coming off this person and just one quick glance at the area surrounding him revealed that there was magic of some sort afoot. It was doubtful he could outrun that either.
"So.. you would be....? My name is Graey Wrennamor." he asked, bowing without his eyes leaving the man, then berated slightly on the upswing. "I'm guessing the blossoms are frozen. Alchemy is hard enough. Please take care not to damage them all. They may very well be the solution to something wonderful. Knowledge is power afterall."
Either he'd be dead for his bravado or out of amusement this fellow might leave him alone to do his work. Graey knew he had lost control of the situation entirely.

Lacking the ability to communicate silently in return, and not wanting to risk giving away their position, K'Dan nodded at Trivii, pistol held tightly in his left paw, muzzle safely pointed into the air. He carefully scented the air himself, nodding slightly. She had a darn good nose, he could only barely detect it himself. He paused for a moment, taking time to consider the tactical situation. Far better to do his thinking now, while he had the luxury of time, instead of later when he might not.
His thumb swept down the side of his pistol's slide, feeling the protruding stud that told him a round was in the chamber and ready to fire, and he looked back at the rest of the group. He pointed with his empty right paw to Trivii, mentally cursing his lack of good tactical comms, and gestured to himself, then ahead and to the right. Then he swept a paw to indicate the rest of the group, and made a big sweeping circle, ending with his paw facing to the left of the newcomers. They didn't know that either newcomer was actually hostile, but in a situation like this, it paid to assume that EVERYONE was a danger until you knew for certain otherwise. They were probably being wildly overcautious, he thought, but then reminded himself that these were for the most part civilian scientists and explorers, not hardened combat veterans. It was definitely a time to play it safe, perhaps they could entirely slip around this mess, whatever it was, and continue with their mission.

Tilting her head, Trivii followed along with K'Dan's concise motions.
Touching Sani on the shoulder she jerked her head back towards Ash and company, aiming a thought at Sani and hoping she would pick it up and relay the message. the way she had the scent.
He wants us to circle to the right, to come around and approach them from behind I think... See if either your or Ash can Eavesdrop on them as we get closer....
Kneeling cautiously, Trivii drew out the plan in the dust for K'Dan. An arrow to the right a circle to an [o] (others), a dotted line from Sani and Ash's names to the [o], the tapping her temple and giving a pointed look at Saniya. Then a curving line from them to the [o] with a bracket wrapped around them.
It was rough but Trivii thought it covered the bases.

((At least 3 dice must be greater the 6 to see if our friend notices the group...
EDIT:: With 1 Botch canceling out 1 success, our friend met the requirements of three successes. Sorry Guys I've gotta play per the character stats.))
He would have like to have the leisure to bate Graey, been able to reply, but speech had been stolen from him centuries ago an icy rage swelled through him... This... This intruder had the audacity to... admonish him?
Repositioning his saber and shifting his feet, he sliced through the air coming close but not making contact with front of the alchemist, instead ice pulled free embedding like darts in Graey's chest.
As blood began to drip from around the darts, emerald eyes flashed with glee. Watching the mans eyes widen in an involuntary shudder, the giant repositioned himself, bent this once to maim and not kill.
Suddenly lifting his gaze he half pivoted still keeping Graey in his peripheral.
'Trivii smells, frost and something human.'
A hollow sense of ill-fate filled him reflecting through the foggy aura.
This had not been his plan.
He had wanted to maim one and send him back to the civilization so that they would once again begin to fear him. Obviously that objective had to change.
