The soldier shook her head and moved to the window so that she might pace unimpeded by furniture. At the Avariel's comment, Tarma gave a head shake, then looked at the man as though he were missing something painfully obvious right under his nose.

"The child is not within the Tower, else every mage in the place would be having a fit over it; the Bridge would give warning. Besides, who's to say that there may not be spies of this enemy of yours? Much simpler to keep a secret if only a few know of it."

Traven growled lowly when the Avreil stole his book "Just you wait I'll get you." As everyone talked about him The sorcerer looked around at the three people as if they where crazy "This is a simple matter for two reasons. One, this is a child so he will fall for childish traps and tricks just as any other boy. Two, he power is based on runes so all we need t do to defeat him is to create a counter-rune to cancel out the power of his rune." he said not really trusting this room she trapped them in "So what we need to do is GIVE ME BACK MY BOOK! and give me and Liana some time and the needed materials so this counter rune can be created." he decisively taking charge of this matter, then looked around "Any objections?" he asked quickly.

Liana

Liana blinked, then gave the bard a long, level look, studying him thoughtfully before finally nodding. A smile graced her features as she did, but it was a secretive smile. One that seemed to say she knew more about him now than she had a moment ago, and it pleased her.

"Your assertion is...refreshing, Master Traven. My private library is at your disposal."

Here she gave a faint imitation of a meek curtsy, bending knee only slightly, but there was a look in her eyes built from pure amusement.

"As, of course, am I. Now, shall we begin?"

Her arm slid through his as naturally as if she'd been doing it all his life, and she steered him gently towards the bookshelves decorating the far wall. A wave of her hand encompassed them all in her gesture.

"This is just the light reading material. If you wish access to the rest, you need only ask. However," and here she held up a finger to emphasize her point, "You will touch nothing here without checking with me first. Understood?"

The tone she used was not unkind, but it carried the weight of a warning. Mages were known for jealously guarding their texts, and it seemed Liana was no exception to that rule, for all her drugging smiles.

The Captain eyed Traven with growing respect. Seemed the lad had a pair on him after all! While Liana's obvious manipulation grated on her nerves, Tarma began to think that perhaps the guy could handle himself. Turning to Damien, the soldier tucked her thumbs behind her belt and sighed.

"I don't know anything about magic, or runes, or fancy powers. What I do know is fighting, strategy. Teach me what I need to know about this boy's weaknesses so that I can give them their chance to take him out."

She motioned to the couches for him to sit.

"He's mortal. He can be killed or captured, yes?"

A slight chuckle and a nod came from damien. "Weaknesses you say?......Thats a good question." at this point he pulled out the rune book and whiped it as if it were a knife at travens head. "You better make that rune "PERFECTLY" the smallest mistake and all the power in it is his." he turned back to tarma. "First off hes a child and thus doesnt have the physical strength but he backs that up with magic to even the field. He tends to get agrivated easly but that only makes him kill you faster. Is he mortal? Sometimes I wonder. Ive seen him pull an arrow out of his chest and heal the wound. The only way to truely kill him would be to either nullify the runes or drain him completly. the cahnce that any of your soilders has is zip even without his rune hes still an acomplished fighter"at this he sighs "bacause i taught him at the academy." he quickly eyes traven and under his breath he mutters "Whatch out for Traven, Tarma somethings not right about him. Hes defenatly not what he says he is. That book he trew at me, its elven. now why would a bard have an elven runebook. thier not exactly common. and that pendant he has, dont trust him thats all im saying, hes keeping to much to himself."

"We're all hiding something, and everyone lies. Even you."

It was muttered quietly under her breath, as though to herself. The Captain stared through troubled eyes towards the shelves where Liana Sedai and the bard stood talking amongst themselves, wondering if there was anyone other than herself that she could trust at all. Shifting her attention to the man who sat at her side, Tarma shrugged uneasily.

"I don't trust many these days, and those I do are often only given as much as I am forced to give. Including you, Damien."

A strange, sad smile softened her features for a brief moment before she once again became the battle-hardened leader of armsmen.

"If you taught him, he must know you will come after him."

"Tusting eachother is something well have to be able to do in this war. When we leave the tower ill tell you my story. But first we need to capture Gale." Damien Sighed knowing teh uproar his resurfacing might cause. "Your colors are easly seen, the magi's, slightly blurry but still visable. the bards however i cannot see. this worries me. yes, the reason I am here was because i followed him, what he doesnt know is where I am." at this his head jerks quickly to the door. "Hes in the city. Dont ask how i know but trust me hes here." he says quickly and stands up.

"Colors?"

The soldier frowned slightly as she muttered to herself, having no idea what the fellow was talking about. A mage thing, perhaps. The Gods only knew that such things were beyond her understanding. She gave a sigh, looking suddenly tired.

"If he is here, then we haven't much time."

"Tarma excuse me." he says walking to the door. "Keep working on the counter rune you two, well need it if I fail. Now ill show myself out." he said quickly not really giving anyone time to respond. "Ill give you one last chance at redemption." he thought to himself not really believing Gale would turn back.

A hand slammed across the wooden paneling of the door, keeping him from opening it. Tarma stepped closer, dark eyes searching his for the intent that she knew she would find there. She recognized the need in him, understood as only a fellow soldier can, that there was honor on the line. There was silence, long and deep, before she spoke softly enough for the other mages not to overhear.

"Do as you must. I wont stop you. Only..."

Her eyes softened, and she allowed herself to touch a hand to his shoulder.

"Come back safe, Damien."

This was a surprise coming from tarma, not nessicaraly an unwelcome one. Damien still didnt understand humans and this one confused the hell out of him. "I havent met a man i couldnt beat, and hes only a kid. ill be fine." he siad not 100% sure of himself. would gale follow the rules or would be break those like all the other laws hes shattered.

"Damn fool."

Somehow the words didn't carry the bite of insult, only the concern she felt. The soldier bit back a sigh as she watched the door close behind him. She would be most displeased with him if he came back injured. Telling herself it was only because she did not want to have to bandage any messy wounds that she felt worried, the Captain paced to the window to think. The mages would prepare their rune; that much was out of her hands. But she could at least think on effective troop movement till the Avariel returned.

Traven laughed thinking of way the she could help him but he knew the he would get smacked or mage'ed if he said something perverted. " No thanks I have my own reading material." Traven held up a glowing hand as the book flew towards him it slowed downed enough for him to grab it. He opened the book to the page on the kids rune he read into it "...Okay..." he closed the book and sighed "I've got a better idea, let's cut his hands because the would be way more practical than making this rune. Hell, convincing a dragon to eat him would be more practical" he said annoyed "Look royal elven blood where in all seven hells are we going to find a pint of that." he yelled his hands beginning to glow red "Sorry, Liana looks like my my plan back fired now all we can do is trust in that god forsaken Avriel...and I've already thought I could try to get it form him but the old way to do that would be to fight him and collect the blood spilled...not a good idea in the least. I mean most of the blood split would be mine and I doubt heavily the the elven half of it is royal." his hand glowing bright he threw the book across the room the cover was almost scalding to the touch.

A hand touched his shoulder gently, and the female mage's smiling face came into view as she leaned in to read over the text. Flicking dark eyes back and forth, she hummed thoughtfully, then nodded to herself.

"Never say never, Traven darling. Come. We must pay a visit to the Palace."

Straightening slowly, as though she had all the time in the world, Liana swiveled to look at the Captain of the Legion, skirts swishing with the motion. Crossing the room in easy, flowing motions, she tossed her long raven locks back while reaching for a tall, carved staff leaning in the corner.

"You will need to accompany us, Captain Falloner. You will want to be there when we speak with Lorna."

He looked over at her wanting to yell but he felt a strange urge to be nice "I didn't say it couldn't be done I meant it would be impractical we don't have enough time to make it with the avriel goting to fight him." he argued "SO all we can do is go to them and make sure he cuts off his hands so we can study the rune and recreate it." he said with his moulth twisting into a smile "Now come on we might miss it." he said and when he got to by Lina grabbing her hand and tugging on it like a child "Come on we don't have much time this child is important." The sorcerer turned back "You too Betty!" he said to Tarma.
