Well, mate... I really don't know, but she smells like a mateur woman t'me... and a mateur woman like that always smells like one thing..... and thats trrouble... Once a lass gets a little worldly she gets an air o'trouble about her that no man e'er needs be troubled with.... but we always want, t'trouble with'it. *cross grins and takes another swig*

*Cross looks up and sees that lucus is gone*.... Bugger.... some'o the best advice I've e'er given and its gone t'waste...... unlike this rum... *he takes another deep swallow then stumbles forward and takes his key down from the wall..... reading the inscription over again and frowning..... "j brown".... it was truely disconcerting, and even though there was no one left in the bar, he puts the key in his pocket and out of sight as he swaggers off to the guest rooms*

:::Cora fades in::::
:::She appears seated at the bar. She shrugs her shoulders at the convinient positioning on the Brink's part, and grabs herself the closest wine bottle:::

K begins to solidify while walking. He nearly loses his footing when he sees where he is. Once he's able to balance himself, he sees a girl at the bar. He walks over.
"Hello, Cora. How are you?"

:::Cora turns her head. When she sees who it is, she turns her body and manages a smile. She would hate to be a downer to such a new member. At least...last time she saw him he was new:::
Ah, hello K. I am well. I have not seen you in at least 3 weeks. Have you been here often since we last met?

"Hm. I suppose not. This is my third time here. The previous time, I was formally introduced to Malazar, though I did manage to see, if not properly aquaint myself, with a man named Tavin, a woman with short blue hair, another gentlman with very long dark hair, and well, there was this terrifying creature!"
K began to ramble. He had no one to talk about his experience in the Brink to. This was his first time spilling his guts.
"My heart nearly stopped when I saw him! I'd never seen anything like it!"

:::Cora chuckles quietly. She assumed right away that he was reffering to Tac, or Torment, perhaps even Alex. They did have strange features:::
Oh, that sort of thing is normal in the Brink. Believe me, it took quite some time before I got completely accomidated with it. I hardly think of it anymore. Do not be frightened, they are harmless.
:::She grabs another glass:::
Would you like a drink?

When K saw Cora reaching for a second glass, he realized that she was about to offer him something. He moved quickly to the bar so he wouldn't have to let her serve him.
"I will help myself, thank you, Cora." This was the first time, he'd been in such close proximity to her. He noticed one thing rather quickly.
"You are very beautiful, Cora" He said it plainly, as though it were a simple fact.

Heh. :::she smerked:::
So I am told. :::She didn't realize that what she said might have sounded kinda snobby. Being called beautiful wasn't really done in her culture. It wasn't used to describe people, or bodies. She had yet to understand its true meaning:::
Does this mean that you are attracted to me, K?

He couldn't help but chuckle himself, a little embarassed. "Well! Let's not jump to conclusions. I am just giving notice where it's due" He smiled at her. He quickly changed the subject as he poured himself a glass. "So, I have been to the Brink going on my fourth time, and I have already seen many strange things. Some amazing, and some utterly frightening. This place..." He trails off in thought for a moment. "This place is beyond my realm of imagination. I have to wonder why. Why do people come here? How do we come here?"
He looked at the glass hesitantly. Last time he tried wine, it was a bit much.

:::smiling:::
That is a question even the most frequent and long attending visitors ask to this day. It seems none of us know exactly why we are here. I would like to imagine that we all come here to learn something, whether it is about others, or about ourselves. In my case, it has been both. But in case you do find out, before I do, what we're doing here, please enlighten me.

"To learn?" K wraps his fingers around his chin, thinking. "I wonder what it is I have to learn then, that is, if your hypothesis is correct. Now that I think of it though, there are a lot of things I have questions about. I am really very excited to be coming here and meeting all you people."
He braves a sip of his wine. When he swallows it, he realises its not as bad as it was last time.

K scartches the back of his head. "It's just that, I live in a very small, self encosed community. We don't get to meet new people very often so, getting a chance like this, you can imagine is quite compelling for me. I wonder who else I have yet to meet. How many people do you know from here, Cora?"
