I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, and happy New Year! I won't be around this weekend for New Years, since I'm going to Houston to visit family. Stay awesome everyone! See you in 2016! Lots of hugs! emotion_hugemotion_hugemotion_hugemotion_hugemotion_hugemotion_hug
though from the looks of it, there wasn't much activity since i popped out, huh?
No, I suppose not. Everyone's been busy with something or other, and when they weren't there was usually an event going on, so they've been busy with that. I haven't been very active at all. I'm actually more of a lurker myself, to be honest xD

I owed y'all one story, didn't I? Yes, I did. Chibi doesn't have to read it, because she knows already.
Alright, so I had an ancestor (mother's side) who owned land in Texas, right? And then this oil company sends a letter to my mother and her brothers and sisters saying that there could be oil in the land.
If any oil was found, my mother would get a monthly check, and then it would be split between her descendants after she passes (in her case, my mother's check would be split between myself and my two sisters once that happens).
So we wait for about a year and some change, and surprise, surprise, there's oil. Ma's getting a check.
There was no catch at all, and it wasn't a scam or anything, so thank goodness for that. (We knew this because my mother's brother took the papers to a lawyer in his city and all was good.)
Now, personally, I didn't expect a huge amount, just a check that may have been about... oh, a hundred or so dollars a month, which wouldn't be too bad.
So some months pass, and my uncle gets his check. I didn't know the amount until my mother's check came in.
And it's a healthy...
$6.08 US bucks. Which means that I'm getting TWO GODDAMN DOLLARS a month once she passes.
Yeah. The reason it's so damn low is because there are a LOT of relatives on my maternal grandmother's side of the family, too!
