Those horns were obviously made one the male base. They're lopsided on female heads....

They're design is lopsided. Why is the outside horn larger than the inside one? Perspectively speaking it doesn't make sense.

Some of the horns are designed to be a straight on view as opposed to some attempt at an angle. They at least look better on the male base.
And the same reason the Elemental Wings look mostly like crap...they made the perspective wrong and thus it is stupid looking.
Fail at a 3/4 view is the biggest case of blah for head items.

Why would you design something for a straight on view when the avatars only have 3/4? It's just silly.

From what I hear, most of the artists follow the torso line...which is more or less straight on where the body then twists at the hips and head. But that's just what I've gathered from all the fuss over EW and poofy ball gowns.
But yes, it is just silly. And ruins some fabulous items.
