So this is where all the big cats hang out....interesting.

I wouldn't call us the Big Cats...

though I was a fan of Top Hat Cat.

Many of us are Oldbies here, yah, and elitist as all hell. (Cause we believe it doesn't take nearly as much effort to type something clean and understandable as people try to push off.)

But we play by our own standard, and don't care what others think of it. That's about the jist of us. We're not the best, though we are an original.

I've been on Gaia on and off since 2005, my first account made the Bloodbath it's home for a brief moment. I'm old in a matter of speaking, more in the terms of age then anything else.

I happen to agree that most people push the whole "literacy is hard" line far too often. I've never been a fan of chatspeak and I am sorry to see the internet and the computer are removing certain skills from out society.

I'd have to agree. Even in my generation, I see a profound lack of certain types of skills. Argumentative, mathematic (I'm a victim there.), even some of the basic social skills such as learning to be polite and kind seem to just disappear, first gone on the internet, but now I'm starting to see it happening more and more often in real life.

In either case, we really strictly enforce rules of respect here, so we get a mixed reputation for it.

I can respect that very much, It's one of the reasons that I leave for short periods of time because people tent to annoy the every loving crack out of me.

Unfortunately it labels us as arrogant, popus, self-centered, etc.

There was a time when I listened to that sort of speach, but I realized that there was no way to please everyone, so I stopped caring. I think Bloodbath as a whole has done about everything we can to please those that work hard for a good roleplay. I know I've stressed myself out on this place far more often than it diserves to, and have resorted to spreadding the responcbility a bit.

However, on of our Authroity Members got called into active duity, and two other people have joined into the military. Since then, we've been down on activity. I'm right now brainstorming on some way we can provide support to those people, but I have many hobbies and often get distracted.

That may or may not be me. Though the fact that I really wanted to quote that and just write BOOGERS!~LOL seems to state otherwise.

*laughs* Can't help but wonder how many times I've been at the other end of that argument. I've been accused of being a horrible Rper more then once.

But I have to completely agree, there has to come a point where you stop caring about everyone little whines and needs and merely do what you think is right for the world that you created. If that alienates certain people, then that's something that you're going to have to deal with.

As far as all those friends of yours that have gone into active service, I wish them only the best of luck and a safe trip home.

Thanks for the little comment in the thread Kalar, I was sitting looking at the screen a little lost as to what was going on.

No problem. I was aware of the context when other people weren't, so I took the initiative.

Malice loves to just b***h people out for that, but whens the last time she's actually RPed in the bar? Being a part of the old trusted is nice, but I think when you've not rped there in almost a year, it's time to take a step back and realize that you're out of the loop.

I myself am prone to small hiatuses mainly when I get to a point where I really don't know where to take something and need a little time to figure out just where I want to take a story or character. Since 'retiring' Loki, and taking up with Donovan I find I don't really have to do it as much considering it's easier to figure out the actions of a 30 year old half demon, than the actions of a 500 year old full-blooded demon with the knowledge of a couple lifespans. Don's much easier to relate to as you can likely guess and so figuring out what he'd likely do in a situation is much easier.

I have to completely agree there Stallion, it's one of the biggest gripes that I have with people that I RP with outside of the Bloodbath bar. There characters are always several millennium old, and the vast majority of them act like infantile 13 year olds. Elias, who happens to be a character that I took out of retirement is by far the easiest to deal with since in a vast majority of ways he thinks like I do.

That and I find it easier to think about someone spending a 150 years alive as supposed to 2 or 3 thousand. Even then I find that I get stuck with Elias, if you've lived that long doesn't there come a point where you just don't care about anyone? I mean, they are all going to die eventually.

As an aside though, I've never been comfortable with the term immortality, since no creature mythical or otherwise has it. Vampires can die, and so can werewolves and demons and angels. They may not age, but death isn't something they have conquered. I think the word is thrown around far too easily and when you really stop to think about it, it doesn't apply to 99% of the characters on Gaia.

Elias included, though he hasn't figured it out yet, he knows that it's there. Lingering right outside the edge of his consciousness.
