"For all you knew." Kennero echoed snidely, watching the monitors intently without a glance to the Commander. He had no desire, or need, to finish the sentence for him while his thoughts churned.

"No illusion is perfect. This force-user had little attention to detail, but I can understand your confusion." Superiority colored his tone easily out of habit, but when he communicated with Mina the tone was replaced with soft teasing. '<She's forgotten your dimples.. and her breasts are too small.>' No twinkle or smirk accompanied his silent comment and he continued as if he hadn't made it. "If we were to give you an alternative lead to follow would you chase it, Commander?"

It was an honest question, considering the lack of trust that had already been displayed, but he was already considering the chase himself. Rikka Mord was an insidious sadist, notorious enough in her own right though she liked to feint anonymity. The only anonymity she could truly claim was the disguise of her innocent guile and smart mouth, and if given the chance he would not mind bringing her to justice.

It would distract them from their own mission, however, and he suspected that somewhere behind the images played before their eyes was a puppet master with cold green eyes and a colder smile waiting for them to do just that.

Anaxes - Brotherhood Stronghold

It seemed as though an undetermined amount of time had passed since she had allowed Isani to take up temporary residence in her stronghold. Temporary because Venia could feel the powers of the Force shifting. Something was coming, powerful or not was insignificant to the Dark Lady. She was tired of running for her life. It was time to take it back. This was her Brotherhood, and she'd be damned if this wannabe was going to take it from her.

It had taken only a couple of days for the Massai to complete her orders to make the Stronghold once again impenetrable. She found it odd to be in the building where she had practically grown up, that had once been teeming with life, was now relegated to such an empty existence.

Venia's days were spent gaining information from Isani. Most was given to her freely and detailed. But Isani no longer found the deadly but slightly softhearted Sith that Venia had once been. If Venia even thought that Isani was keeping anything impotant from her, she had no qualms about searching through the younger sith's mind for it herself.

But today was different, today she was wrapped in a large plush robe starring out at the dreary, bleak day.

She heard the hiss of the door as it opened behind her, turned her head gently, "Isani?"

Cole arched an antenna, incredulously.

"" Cole began. ""

Cole rewound the recording of the prison escape and paused it when the force field had been deactivated. There was a clear view of the unidentified Force-user's face. Cole zoomed in on it.

Predator

16 hours. 16 long hours, and they were finally at Kinyen. The Imperial armada had slowly built up, over the various pitstops in normal space, a few more ships being added each time. All in all, the battlegroup consisted of 25 ships in total. Mostly cruisers and destroyers, complimented by carriers and supporting gunships. It wasn't the largest fleet in history, but it was truly a force to be reckoned with. Kinyen would make a fine example.

Sephis stepped off of the elevator and began the long walk toward the bridge. He had been alerted by the Predator's bridge communications officer that the fleet was about to enter normal space. Knowing that Sephis had requested to be on the bridge upon arrival, she'd kindly informed seven minutes in advance. Sephis could see the bridge bulkhead doors now. Just another couple hundred feet, and the view of a green bauble housing billions of lifeforms would be in view. Sephis couldn't wait to cast a last glance at the planet before it was glassed. It was always good to commit to memory what one was about to destroy.

anaxes

Isani strolls into the room unruffled, more focused on what she senses in the Force than her particular senses and intent on delivering more information. It became clear in the past few days that Venia had changed into someone Isani is actually willing to ... not follow -- Isani is not a follower per se. But Venia is someone Isani will stand with now, and as soon as she recognizes that her plans shift subtly from what they were to where they are now.

"They are close," Isani says without preamble, stepping in line with Venia at the window. "Do you sense them? It shouldn't be more than a day now."

The Knight subtly elbows her fiance, not quite as good at pretending they weren't having a silent conversation. The moment of good humor passes when the commander pulls up an image of the prisoner who'd been broken out.

Mina peers at the image, and as the face registers in her memory she recoils a little in shock. "It's Rokumasu," she whispers, more to Kennero than to Cole at this point. "You are most definitely looking for Rikka Mord now," she says more directly. "And you should send this image to the Grandmaster immediately. This man is an old friend of his... What were the circumstances of his detainment?"

Mina can't imagine Rokumasu -- Reimus, he called himself as a Sith -- would've come in easily.

[ En Route to Anaxes ]

Mae growls to herself when she hears her name shouted, and feels the Sith's call. Stars screw it all, at least the other Sith had a little more... whatever. Not patience, but they weren't constantly yelling and s**t.

Turning from the view-panes of her ship, locates her smuggled Sith and the blonde girl. "We're about to drop through the atmosphere," she informs the two in a tone clipped with irritation. "I haven't sent a communiqué to Darth Isani as yet, because I've been informed communiqués are a piss-poor method in comparison to your Force s**t."

Cole directed his attention solely upon Rahl.

"" Cole said. ""

Cole was familiar with this Mord character only through hearsay. From what little intel he'd ever read about her, she was some sort of Imperial agent. It was unknown, to the Republic, whether she was ever Force-sensitive or not. The Jedi, judging by the reactions of these two, probably had more dealings with her than the Republic ever would.

Mina hesitates, unwilling to divulge the past of something so personal to the Grandmaster. Yes, Rokumasu had turned Sith... but from what Commander Barranks says of him it doesn't seem like he is still the dangerously unstable Sith he'd become. He had disappeared after the attack five years ago, and had been presumed dead along with others. Grandmaster Ronyo would be pleased to learn of Rokumasu's survival -- but it'd only turn to pain if the man was still Sith.

"It is difficult to explain; it would perhaps be best if you asked the Grandmaster. I would suggest the utmost caution if you do find him again... He is a good man at heart, though." As for Rikka Mord...

A dangerous Sith Knight whom nobody knew too much about, other than that she is or was at some point an Imperial interrogator. A very good one, too, from what Mina has gathered from Isani's and Ali's hushed conversations so long ago. "Rikka Mord is a dangerous rogue Sith with as much power as Kennero or myself. She probably is not connected to the current organization of Sith, but with the return of Darth Isani..." Mina trails off, glancing at Kennero.

Both of Cole's antenna straightened.

"return of Darth Isani?>"

It was suspected that the Sith had sustained heavy losses five years ago, just the Republic and the Jedi had. The Republic didn't have a mass casualty list for all parties, however. All they had to rely on was "best guesses" for who had bitten the bullet and who hadn't for the Sith, on that fateful day in the Adega system.

"" Cole asked, with a mix of concern and suspicion. "Isani is tied to this?>"

Unlike his fiance, Kennero does not know the name Rokumasu - he knows Reimus because Reimus was one of the alleged Sith conspirators unaccounted for after the Brood event - and, also unlike his fiance, he does not have gentility in mind for the rogue Jedi. He remains silent, however, knowing that this is not the time to debate the finer details of who was and was not forgiven for their crimes.

"It would be foolish to think that Isani was not tied to this. Wherever Isani is concerned you would do well to learn that paranoia and suspicion are your greatest allies, not sound reasoning. She'll enjoy watching you bury yourself with reason." If he sounded bitter then he was, but not for the obvious reasons. As piece by piece fell into place, in so far as Isani would have allowed them to witness, he felt more the tool in the palm of his old master's hand. On Naboo he had known they'd been playing, but only now was he learning the magnitude of Isani's gambit.

"You have our testimony as to the identity of your prisoner, Commander, and you have our council concerning these events. If you decide to track Rikka Mord for this crime as per that council then you know how to reach the Order; as for Mina and myself, we cannot afford to be part of those deliberations."

Cole turned to face Knight Aedos now, more immediately concerned with his reluctance to help.

"" Cole said. "Are neither of these Sith doing the plaguing?>"

Cole wanted to know, because if he could shanghai these two Jedi into conducting a joint investigation with him, he could probably start to unveil whatever dealings the Sith were having with the Republic far faster than he could unveil it by himself.

"Coruscant...>"

Cole gestured emphatically to the frozen image of the alleged Rokumasu, sitting in the cell.

"
"<...But you know I can't let you two conduct a federal investigation on foreign soil-- my foreign soil; the foreign soil that I serve on-- without supervision,>"
Cole finally explained. "Coruscant, or some other Republic-controlled world.."

Mina shakes her head. "There are no Sith on Coruscant, as far as we know. Not at the moment, at any rate. We intended to rendezvous on Coruscant and then set out in search of the Sith," Mina is quick to clarify. As Kennero has already voiced, the two of them can hardly search for Rikka Mord and Isani all at once.

The Knight smiles wistfully. "Rest assured that our... investigation will not be taking place on Republic-controlled worlds. Would that it could, but at this point in the --" the game, Mina almost says because that's what it is to the Sith, "... at this point, with so many days having passed between our last encounter, we won't be staying around Coruscant or the possibly even the core systems."

Sam settled herself before Ronyo as she had before Isani with only a moment's hesitation due to the lack of trust between the latter. She allowed for a momentary flutter of guilt to settle before kneeling before him and closing her eyes.

Her head jerked up slightly at the sudden rush of images, but she held onto it and followed it, soaring with it like a bird in her own mind, absorbing the information. It was immediately clear that the Sith had been delicate, indulgent even, in comparison to the open connection between the two Jedi, but Ronyo did not hold her hand and he did not merely show her what he wanted her to see, he showed her everything with the openness and trust that she had, once, acknowledged and reciprocated. Images from both a past and a future blended together and when she opened her eyes she sighed.

"Things are not good." But they're not as bad as they were. She added silently, slightly nauseated by her memory of two timelines. Another sigh, a moment of silence, and she continued.
"What do you mean to do about it?"

Anaxes - Brotherhood Stronghold

A sardonic smirk crossed her face, "I don't seem to remember it ever taking this long to travel to my destinations."

"Of course that could be because we never had time to breathe....something was always happening....." she remembered briefly before her eyes glinted dangerously, "And once more in this galaxy the balance of power shall shift again back to its rightful owner."

"How many of the Sith that were supposedly loyal to me regardless of my abensce are now loyal to Ensis? Sephis? Rikka? Tell me who have I lost?"
