Doppelgaanger
I have a question.

In my book I have, it says that До скопого is pronounced like До скорово.

Where does this change come from? (I mean the г>в)

The letter г is sometimes pronounced as a в. It always is in the combonaion его.

Я приехал из России!

Как у вся дела?

Ack, I still haven't quite mastered the russian keyboard... but I want to learn it, so I'm using it. Takes me forever. I've written all this in the time it took me to write "I've returned from Russia!"

Download the Microsoft Keyboard layout editor thingy. It allows you to arrange your keys. In this manner, I aligned the Russian keystroke with my QWERTY one. Alothough, If you want to get used to an actual Russian keyboard, I suggest that you make little squares of paper, and put them over your keybaord, so you can see what is what.

Ummmm probably. Looks right. I don't look at the keys when I type English, and so I don't know what letter is where sweatdrop

ё1234567890-=
йцукенгшщзхъ
фывапролджэ
ячсмитьбю.
matches English (US) keyboard:
`1234567890-=
qwertyuiop[]
asdfghjkl;'
zxcvbnm,./

I'm thinking about getting keyboard stickers so I don't take twenty billion years to type a sentence XD (I try not to use translit sites so much anymore, since it seems like it's better to just learn the key order)

So how are the keyboard troubles coming along?
PostPosted: Mon Oct 06, 2008 4:52 pm

ehh... no huge issues on my part, but I type really slowly. Using translit.ru mostly, still. I have an addon in firefox for transliterating too razz I should use it more, really. Is handy.

Writing Russian nondominant-handed, that's fun. (My right hand is messed up, so I had the joy of writing "malenky lyogky diktant!" today...with the wrong hand. So slow crying so sloppy)

I've been taking Russian classes at school now for two weeks, and I'm really starting to fall in love with the language heart The way it's pronounced, I love it! I'm learning the alphabet now and some sentences and a phone call (oh, lord, the phone call. The pain...). The teacher's name is Ioulia, and she from Russia herself, she makes it sound so easy and beautiful...

Does anyone have any tips for learning to actually handwrite the letters (think the cursive books y'all were probably tortured with in elementary school)? I've picked up Russian as a new project, and although I've found plenty of guides on recognizing the printed form of the letter, I haven't found much on actually writing them.

Shows script next to typed letters. I feel like I've seen a resource for learning the strokes to cursive cyrillic script online, but I'll have to dig around for it.

I'm taking Russian at my college now because it's the only interesting language class that goes fast enough for me. All the others are too slow or I'm not interested.

Anyway, can anyone tell me in more detail the difference between the instrumental and propositional cases? My books aren't really explaining, just giving examples. I get using different prepositions, but they answer some of the same questions, which is confusing me.
