I won't tell you the egg, but I will tell you the gender thing.

It might just have been luck of the draw, so I'll have to experiment with it more, but if you give an unmatured hatchling a female name, it will have a higher chance of being female, as with the males and male names. I gave Karaysa her name, intending her to be female, and it worked, as well as with my males.
