"The Seraphim," he almost spits the name, "is an almighty b*****d. I've heard some of what he's done, and hearing more doesn't improve my opinion of him one bit." He slumps back down against the table, looking up and over to Cora, nearly meeting her eyes, but still far from it. When he continued his voice was rather solemn, "One must hold onto all emotions and ideals they cherish, and if these elements of your soul damn you to hell, then get ready to dance with the devil. If your world seeks to destroy you, I don't see why you don't just leave it if you know what your fate would be, simply for being human. We both know a man who would sacrifice everything to make sure that world of your doesn't eternally rob the Brink of such a wonderful person, just because she didn't want to be a robot."

:::Cora finally made eye contact with Torment. They were steely and cold, but deep behind them was an all encompassing sadness:::

It is not for me, or for anyone to go and ruin so many lives, lived peacefully and happily, even if it is in ignorance...any interpherance from the Brink would devistate the people of my time, to a point of no return. Their society would fall, and the world would be in ruins...and why? So that I can keep coming to the Brink? So that I can keep feeling emotion. I hope never to be so selfish.

He shakes his head, "Wasn't my point, Cora. Your ******** up world can stay like it is for all I care. They want to be robots, let 'em. Hell, I'd be just as happy removing them all, but thats just the old me shining through. I'm talking about you living the way you want to, with whoever you want to, in any time you want to. All the while being a human and not an automaton. Your world is too ******** full of itself. Perfect this, perfect that, emotionless this, healthy that. ********." He let out an exasperated sigh that bordered on an angry grunt, pushing away from the table and storming around, mostly ranting in the same fashion, but never blaming Cora for anything, the opposite rather.

:::Cora watched him go off, but let him go on to take a second to herself for reflection:::

I never thought about it that way... I didn't think it was at all possible. :::She didn't seem as enthused about the idea as she thought she would be::: But, what would I do? What kind of life would I have? Could I still come here, or would I have to throw myself into a world full of strangers and ideals I don't understand...? Not that that is much different from where I live now... Still, I just don't know.

I don't want to leave this place under the influence of attacks from Seraphim...but I don't know how to fight him either...I just want everything to be simple! I just...want to be happy.

:::Cora suddenly felt very upset at herself::: Ugh! Listen to me go on. Forgive me. :::She gets up to get her key from the rack:::

Torment was ranting about the creme filling in cupcakes and how her world likely didn't have them when he noticed her get up, "Cora, stop." He quickly jogged over to her and put a hand on her shoulder, "Cora...Life is all about compromises and borrowed time. There are always uncertainties, but we must face them nonetheless. It is human nature to learn from our experiences. We have experienced the Seraphim, we will learn. We will teach ourselves. We will resist. I'm sure as hell not giving up the one place I can hide from that a*****e Gelmax." He smirked, "But Cora, wnating everything to be simple and wanting happiness is perfectly normal, but far from simple. Hmm...that seems odd...not simple to be simple. Anyway, Cora, in time things will be simple, and you will be able to be happy. Everything just...takes time."

It takes time huh? So what happens in a place without time... :::She took her key::: I hope you're right...about the Seraphim. Then...you will help us fight him?

Tor nodded, "With every fiber of my being, Cora." He looked down to the floor for a moment, then looked back up at her as he spoke, "Just, try to be happy sometime in the meanwhile, ok?"

:::She put on a bit of a devient smile:::

Yes sir...

:::with that she walked into the hallway and towards her room:::

Tor twitched at being called sir, shaking his head and wandering back to the table. He stared at the rag for a moment, picking it up, and then tossing it into the inky abyss. He was a damn fool. A god damn fool.He slowly returned to the door, took up his key, and left.

Malazar fades in in the middle of a diving roll. He hits the ground, hands inside his jacket, rolls...

And fades out.

Moments later he fades back in, in the air, and apparently dropping from some great height. In his hands are an Uzi submachine gun and a large ugly looking cannon of a gun. He fades out half a second before hitting the floor.

Finally, Malazar fades in one last time, and stays. He is dressed in his normal clothing, with an unlit cigarette cocked off to one side in his mouth and two large six-shooters in his hands. He blinks and sighs.

"Daaaaamn."

In the past few hours Malazar has once again installed himself at his customary table. He has an empty mug and a pot of coffee in front of him, next to his feet (which are actually on the table). He has his book out and is casually leafing through it.

:::Cora emerges from the hallway leading from the guest rooms. She sighs as she enters, going straight to the bar. She spots Malazar at his talbe while she pours herself a drink:::

Hello Malazar. How are you feeling?

"Well and fine lassy, had an interesting enterance, but otherwise I'm just enjoying some down time."

He waves the book in Cora's general direction and leans over for a sip of his coffee.

:::When Cora finishes fetching herself a martini, she walks over to where Malazar is sitting, and pulls up a chair:::

Malazar...your friend Reinard said something about you studying, or learning. I've noticed that when I see you, you're usually involved in some sort of information retrieval. May I ask what you have been trying to learn?

*Maggie walks in slowly from the corridor from the guest rooms. She's dressed in her usual 16th century clothes once more, and despite having just rested, she looks pale and exhausted*
