Lady Pyre So I was setting up the new printer and everything was going fine. I was on the very last step and installing the software on my computer, when I noticed something. I have no USB cable to connect the two. WTF? I searched and searched through all of the little baggies again to make sure I didn't miss something. Couldn't find it. Then I checked the contents list, which didn't mention it. Then I check the box... and it has in big letters "USB cable not included." What. The. ********. Who DOES that? They gave me printer cartridges, but no USB cable? That doesn't even make any sense! So now I'm going to have to put my paper on my flash drive and get up an hour early, even though I haven't been sleeping for s**t, to go print out copies at the library because HP likes to ******** with their customers and not include everything you need for set up. And it's too late to go buy a USB cable in this hillbilly ********. It. All. They don't include USB cables with any printers, so far as I know - at least, every time we sell one at work they tell customers like five times "you'll need a USB cable. Do you have a USB cable? You need one."
I think it's 'cause they can mark up the cables hella more than the printers themselves. *shrug*

Yeah, I don't seem to remember seeing any printers lately with USB cables. It's a pretty douche move. Just trying to milk as much money out of customers as possible.
Also, today was a disaster. I hate retail on the last day before back to school, and a holiday to boot. Yesterday was hell too, and our sales were down 8%? How is that even possible? Crap. Such crap. =w=;
Random note, some guy was apparently really bored and kept calling the store with random vulgar s**t. What makes that funny? What's so great about calling a store and telling them to suck your privates? And going on and on and on. I mean, once or twice, sure, whatever, but like 30-50 times, over 30-45 minutes? Honestly. Some people. rolleyes

Well, my last printer was so old it didn't even use USB, but I'm pretty damned sure it came with all of the needed connection cables. And the printer was a gift from my dad so I didn't think to check anything beyond printer cartridges - he's usually pretty good about buying any cables/batteries/extra s**t you need. I figured if they'd cheap you out of any thing it would be the ink.

You're welcome.
I too hate HP. Both my friend and I wanted to upgrade our laptops' respective processors. He has an HP and I have a Dell. I did the research, found the chips, they were purchased, and a plan was made. Then the "fun" part came where we (I) had to disassemble the laptops to install said processors. His HP? I had to take it down to piecemeal, disconnecting practically every part of the computer it had (incl. the power connectors for the AC plug) just to get at the cooling apparatus that covered the processor; 5 hours to disassemble. But we (I) did it, and the laptop got it's upgrade. Then it was my laptop's turn, with me dreading the process based on the HP. An hour and a half later, I was done. All Dell had me do was remove the monitor, keyboard, and wrist rest and BAM, I was there. I loves my Dell laptop.
Also, HP (who is now also Compaq) knows jack s**t about the proper installation of software, up to and including the operating system.

I know I'm probably being a little silly, because he doesn't hang out with them much, but it hurts a little when he says he'll come over afterward but then stays 'til past when I should really be awake...like right now. ._.

Kilana Yay, you guys give me so much faith in my [somewhat] new HP laptop. >_>; The hardware bits are fine, it's just that HP has a tendency to load their computers up with crap.

I can get in on the Word hate. I swear Word 2007 is even worse than whatever version was bundled into XP. The formatting is all ******** up. I hate the stupid automatic breaks when you start a new paragraph, and I do not care what you tell me, THAT IS NOT SINGLE SPACING. And God forbid I need to indent the SECOND line only. Ugh. It gives me a migraine trying to make everything MLA standard.
I used to have Lotus. I miss it.
