Why not a second, separate thread that's chapters 26-on?

Kind of a Gendou's Sagas II.V?

That's not a bad idea, and probably what I will end up doing.

I've been wondering about the Whiteout powers. Can Sandra (at the moment) extend a Somebody-Else's-Problem field to other people and/or objects? If so, could she continue this effect without physical contact? This ability would be ideal for rescue and/or escort missions, or even high-detail courier missions, where she could essentially hide in plain sight.

And if so, would this work the other way around, as well? Could she place a Capture-Attention effect over something? This would be perfect for infiltration, assault, or any other type mission, where she could "charge up" a rock or a cat or something else and send it out as a distraction while she or other members of her team took the momentary advantage.

And get the poor kitty shot? eek How cruel, Kevin. crying blaugh

Just for the record, I called that Ian was a plant. *narcissistic, self-congratulatory simle* Laura sleeping with her 17-year-old student seemed a bit risque for a Modfic.

Hey, don't look at me. I just grow things and shake things.

Even though she slept with Hobson when she was the same age?

Chapter Nineteen:
Quote:
"Sue isn't here," Murdoch said, but he made no move to reestablish physical contact. There had been a mutual attraction between them ever since his days as her English professor. He was largely the reason she had chosen to teach English Literature in the first place.

Though it doesn't state that they became involved, it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. Which, it seems, it was.

Apparently so. I must admit I missed that tiny detail on my first read-through.

Chapter Twenty-Six: A Figmentation Of Your Imaginement
Now available for reading and commenting in the Saga, Volume II thread.

A magnificent chapter. (And no, I'm not saying that just because I get to see Kevin Reilly in action, though that was awesome)

One wonders if Ian's failure at this mission is what prompted Command to station him in his current Intelligence mission in the Academy. Though the presence of the girl complicates things.

There's a tossup in my mind whether she's an agent from an enemy faction, or whether she was sent by Command itself as a safeguard, simply to ensure that the drive was retrieved successfully. I imagine we'll find out soon enough, though. (EDIT: We can't rule out the third possibility, that she's an independant.)

And I'm wondering what the information on the drive is. Could it be the XM-22 project itself? If so, and the girl was an enemy agent...things have just gone from bad to worse.

But his two mission objectives concern me. One, obviously, was the theft of the data. Was the second the assassination of Hashimoto and/or Salgato? That makes the most obvious sense to me.

Anyway, back to the "present". It seems that Alex, at least, has more faith in his students than Command does. He also has more faith in the students than he does in Command itself lately, which was established in a previous chapter. He understands that the children are not simply statistics, but they in fact have their own capabilities, their own potential, and they are not confined to the box that their classification puts them in.

Evan's static field may or may not have been the source of Marty's depression. Yes, Alex says it is, but at the very most, it simply pushed him over the edge. Marty was already having his doubts from his previous match with Fred. I'm worried about his future now.

Anyway, it seems like Kevin is gaining more control over his abilities. And I'll let someone else handle the ramifications of this, because I'm still in the OMG I AM AWESOME GO ME mood. And probably will be for a while. whee heart

Though I'm glad that the sparring hasn't ruined their friendship....yet. As these matches continue, it seems that they will only sow discord in the ranks. It's one thing for training purposes, but when Hammond gets involved, all of these seem to get very personal, very quickly.

And Gendou has yet to have a match where his opponent doesn't take it personally. Although...I'm curious to see how Rene handles him next time she sees him, since the initial terror and rush has long since worn off.

I am very much looking forward to team exercises. 3nodding

All in all, a marvelous chapter. And take your time with these; I certainly understand the need to take some extra time in working things out.
