ok, so i finally got to play my first game in like...well a long time last saturday, and well....my scouts did freaking amazing.

two scout squads pretty much did everything, the only other units that could even claim to have done anywhere near as good were my speeders and my venerable dread. which all had assault cannons...those rending shot did tear up a decent number of enemy

Scouts are uber! I have always had a warm fuzzy spot for scouts even before the update. n_n imagine the odds of a scout putting a wound on a tzeentch greater demon in CC!! blaugh
ya, people every where else don't seem to share the love...the scout and outflank abilities are pretty much awesome. ^_^

As soon as some one gets their face melted in a tourney by scouts, every one will love them. Obviously there are a lot of tactically uncreative people out there not to like scouts. stare

Here's a question: So I'm using a metal veteran as my company Champion and he looks awesome as all hell. One problem is that the Codex doesn't state that he can fight without a combat shield. The spot on the plaspistol where a shield would normally go has a purity seal on it. The model's already painted up, so I don't want to mangle both the paint and the model by trying to cut it off with a craft knife and I have no greenstuff to help with it either. Now here's where the opinions come in: I've read articles saying that a Templar Champion's black sword doesn't have to be a sword per se and I notice my model has a rosarius-like charm on his belt. Could I say that charm generates the same field the combat shield does and thus serves as his shield, or do I have to glue a shield on him?

Unless your playing wysiwyg it shouldn't be a problem, often times i have my sergeants with chain swords that in fact count as a power weapon on paper. I would say if the model looks good and your happy with it, then hell yeah he has an energy shield, being that hes a marine and all call it a shield of faith. wink Just make sure of your rule sets if you do intend to use him in a tourney.

Normally, I stick pretty closely to the wysiwyg theory, but this is something I just wanted some other opinions on since I don't want to trash this cool model trying to put the shield on.

if u want to stick to wysiwyg really closely, put a shield on his back, over his little pack.

Thank you, that had never occurred to me. If I can get a hold of a working camera, expect a pic or two.

i can try but with my friends it will probably just be a plan and never commence >.<
Ive been trying to get a game started between me, my brother, and two of my friends. My two friends though have yet to make their armies and i keep asking them to make their armies and theyre all like "Well when are we playing" and then i respond with "We cant play till you make your army!!"
grr...
it sucks though cause noone wants to play me cause i win most the time sad
And one friend got out of playing (he played Imperial Guard) cause he got tired of moving All of his little guys every turn >.<

I was thinking for a christmas themed diorama, I have it planed just havnt gotten the bug to sit and bust out with it. My idea was to have a Christmas tree and include 1 of each army I own in the scene doing various things, decorating the tree, opening a gift ect...

I have the same problem with getting people to play, they see the models and terrain and are like wow cool! but it stops there most of the time, I did get my cousin to help me build some imperial guard. I'd love some one to play one day.

One way to keep people interested in playing with you is, to loose every now and then. People will play what they think they are good at sooooo a lil fib or a few miss made moves may yield more games and help keep their interest, getting them to play in the first place... that's the trick!

lol to be honest ive never thought about loosing on purpose before XD
i have made alot of mistakes when playing, like forgetting to deepstrike my terminators, or forgetting to move my XV8s in the assualt phase, or shooting with one thing or another

I myself find it hard to get started with some projects, but what i have trouble with more is trying to keep at it till its finished. Like in my art classes i would loose interest in my projects so not many of them were finished, most were good...but never finished

well that's the problem you asked, this isn't something you ask about. It's an executive decision, not open to debate. Thats kinda like saying "Hi, I want to screw with your mind and make you like my game, ya wanna play?" H3ll no I wouldn't.

You never tell the rat it's in a maze... whee

I've only just returned from a cold north and already I'm showered with great news for 2009: January will be a green month with Orky releases: Battlewagon, Grots, Nobs and Storm Boyz along with the following characters: Snikrot, Badrukk and Zagstrukk! February the Lizardmen get tonnes of new plastics, including a Stegadon and new Temple Guards. During March GW is going to release a plastic Ork Stompa kit and a new Imperial Guard super-heavy tank that includes parts for six(!) variants including the Shadowsword, Doomhammer and Stormhammer. May will see the release of the new Imperial Guard codex with the main seller being a plastic Valkyrie kit and revamped Russ and Chimera kits.
