Now, it's not in my job description to pay attention but I'm not sure what the ******** problem is. From what I've seen, the two offending hueg omg problems are...
- Some giant monster, that hasn't actually done anything(?), didn't die in one hit. When it somehow should have because it's not a PC and the post attacking it had images in it.
- Someone* cast an eighth level spell.
*Like 20 magesBut like Shou said. I'm seeing it all as complaints just because the NPCs aren't losing. Anyway, that's a really stupid idea.
To be so blunt.
Just because you guys aren't winning you shouldn't have been given the option to try? Let's apply the idea that the BAD GUY NPCs should be losing because they're BAD GUYS and NPCs.
So they shouldn't even try, or be given the option to try. Kraun should delete all his posts and say the zombies were all slain by the Silver Wolf-vampire clan samurais of Barton, as soon as they stepped foot in the town.
Because good always wins.
I'm
pretty sure the Boneyard hasn't given rise to a single complaint yet. On the contrary, I think its a very nice touch and I think Darshendros has done an excellent job with his villain NPCs, throwing in a lot of cool and appropriate creatures to fight.
The high-level spellcasters bothers me the most, with some stuff we haven't encountered yet IC on the backburner of concerns. Its not that they just cast a couple 8th-level spells, its that there's a bunch more that can cast them, along with 7th and 6th end etc etc, most of which can kill 2/3 of our group with a single casting, with little chance to make our saves if we're even given the chance to at all if they wanted to. By wasting their higher level spells on more indirect stuff, they're litterally toying with us. I dunno about you all, but I generally get insulted when I'm toyed with.
You're getting closer to the issue at hand. Its not whether or not the good guys win. Its that good guys aren't being given the chance to succeed somewhat. If we fail, yes, the bad guys should get the city; hell, they probably already have it already. We're not trying to beat them into oblivion and stop all their nefarious plans. It's too late for that.
We all realize that. Why haven't you?
Our objective in all of this is to rescue a bunch of faceless, nameless, RP-unimportant civilians who were taken captive. We don't have the forces or power to take back the city. We're there to salvage what we can. Think of it on the flipside for a second; when most generic villians are defeated by the forces of good, do they get defeated on every single front? Unless they're morons, no. They usually cause some damage, take some lives, sometimes even cut their loses and get away with a lesser share of the loot. There has to be some draw, or its the forces of good picking on incompetant bad guys who pose no real threat; and thats no fun for anyone, even readers or viewers if this were a comic book or show/movie, respectively.
We don't want to win. We just want this to be not as one-sided as it currently stands. As the good guys, we just want a fair chance to do some relatively minor in the grand scheme of this huge event that's going on. All the best stories have minor things that all combine into one huge climax at the end; not a one-sided linear storyline that only introduces things as they become convenient and have no significant bearing on the story on the whole (ie, everything between "once upon a time" and "the end" all becomes filler, like how things are shaping up to be now).
We're not asking for much. Yet it confounds me why you guys think that we are making unfair demands. Don't lay down and surrender/die. Just tone things down so we can make a thematicly cool contribution to the event. That's all we ever wanted.
Well, that and pie.
