Here's a good example of the bad points of Ultimate Muscle. Instead of actually doing any sort of changing, Barrierfreeman's Georgioman half bitched about not getting to the market to get prunes, or how about Meat's voice? Little boys have voices like that.
biggrin But they never said Meat's a little boy in the dub. Just.. a possible midget. It's like how the Big Cheese is actually a fox and you can clearly see.. he is a fox, but the dub makes him a rat.
How old was he at the end of Kinnikuman? Thirteen? The voice would only make sense, in my mind, if he wasn't frozen. I like Jaeger's original voice and usually find his 4Kids voice annoying, but it can be funny.
Kind of off topic but... I'm trying to read Marvel stuff... Anyone got any recommandations?
According to Wiki, Meat was about 12 by the end of the Throne Arc. But then, Kinnikuman was never brought to America, so 4Kids probably felt they didn't need to stick with the canon. To add to this, they also made Brocken Jr. Jeager's father.
And I don't mind Jeager's voice itself, but the weiner schnitzel/sausage jokes got pretty old. At least Terry Kenyon's cowboy sayings had some form of variety.
As for the comic books, I'm admittedly more a DC girl, but I HAVE started reading Thor: The Mighty Avenger. It's not the main Thor book, but a new 're-imagining' ongoing series. #1-3 is out right now, with #4 coming in Sept. So far, so good on it, IMO.
Also, from what I've heard from Marvel-ites, Anything from the Marvel Adventures series is supposedly golden (most I know swear the MA Spiderman is the one true Spidey-storyline right now). It's more lighthearted than the drama-dunked stuff from the main books. I have some of the Marvel Adventures: The Avengers mini trades, and they're AMAZING; so much fun. Most comic shops should have the mini-trades for MA: Avengers and MA: Spiderman. Ask about 'em. ^^
If you wanna get an idea of comics to check out, I recommend checking out the DreamWidth comm,
Scans Daily. It's a comm devoted to posting some (not ALL, some) pages from comics both past and present, and it's a good way to find out what the current story's are in each book, and see what peak's your interest.
Be warned, this site CAN and WILL empty your wallet before you realize it. Within a year of getting onto the site, I went from getting 2 book titles (but Sonic the Hedgehog related) a month, to THIS each month:
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Sonic Universe
- Last Unicorn Miniseries
- Batman Beyond Miniseries
- Darkwing Duck
- Justice League: Generation Lost
- Thor: The Mighty Avenger
- The Tick
And I want MORE. Just can't afford it.
