Admiral Skippy So Mireo I'll assume you saw Scott Pilgrim? Also, read my signature. So, I guess you're no longer claiming to be emo in your sig. blaugh Is there an esoteric reference associated with a turtle that you had in mind?

So, I guess you're no longer claiming to be emo in your sig. blaugh Is there an esoteric reference associated with a turtle that you had in mind? What? Me, emo? Never. It used to say that "scene" and "emo" were the same thing and that those "scene kids" that cried over being called "emo" need to learn that. And no esoteric reference to the turtle. Just the fact that it's ironic that the word esoteric is itself esoteric.

That's great! I loved my upper level English classes. It's too bad that there aren't many job opportunities open for people with English degrees. sweatdrop @Skippy - I see what you mean now! I always thought that you were saying that the scene with the turtle in it was somehow emo. rofl

All the same, I want my background to be in the written word.

I've been involved in a long job search, and it seems like the only things available are sales and marketing. xp Apparently ,a lot of places also need professional buyer to buy stock for them.

Things that are esoteric are supposed to be secretive and highly guarded, though. The fact that someone CAN find it in any dictionary makes it not esoteric, independent of whether or not they choose to. xd

So yes it can be secretive and guarded, but I wouldn't say it has to be.

Wouldn't you say that a t-shirt that says, "I heart Weighted Companion Cube" would be an esoteric reference to Portal?

No, because everybody and their mother knows about Portal now. I have a shirt that says "Weighted Companion Cube is my Co-Pilot". Every time I wear it I never hear the end of "the cake is a lie" and "still alive" jokes.

Wouldn't it have to be something from in the game to count? @Mireo - Sure, lots of gamers have played Portal, but try explaining that reference to a bunch of middle aged adults. There are still loads of people who wouldn't get the weighted companion cube reference unless they played the game. "the cake is a lie," on the other hand, has become an internet meme, and just about everyone with a hint of geekiness in them has heard that whether they've played the game or not.
