Miya stood there and watched the scene, wide-eyed. He hadn't been kidding when he said his lab had a lot of security. Simply watching how the 'specimens' went in made her extremely curious as to what the rest of his lab was like. Then the shutters closed and she waited. The time was spent doing diagnostics on Sonja; checking heart rate and breathing and such, along with changing the near-empty IV bag.
Once the shutters and doors reopened and Aleron asked his question, she nodded and grabbed Sonja's stretcher. "I think so," she replied verbally, quiet with curiosity and slight worriedness, as she slowly went forward with the survivor...unsure of what was about to happen.

(( no worries 'bout your charrie, Misha. last night AnCat just said that her and Boda were following Gin back to the ship so that stuff could still kinda continue without you and Rasz.

Aleron tossed her two oxygen masks. "Put these on her and yourself." he said as he scanned his middle finger instead this time. The shutters went down as the chamber glowed a bright yet dark cyan, the lights inside going out otherwise. There was a loud hiss and screech as the gravity shot up, then cut off completely and the chamber became air-compressed and airless. Those un-used to this would likely suffer their ears popping and bleeding, nose-bleed, and disorientation. After a few moments of this, gravity resorted, but not oxygen. The other doors opened with a loud hiss and metallic buckle of the doors as the air exclusive to the lab rushed in, showing that it had it's on, special air-supply. He stepped inside to...another chamber. This one, though, was exactly the length of a stretcher and rather cramped for 2 people and a stretcher. The doors behind them closed in a spiral fashion ((like doors in Metroid)) and the entirely glass-like chamber hissed as a sort of mist covered everything inside, being, in fact, technical micro-beads. Small laser-pointer-like scanners scanned over every single inch of everything as well, the mist helping the lasers bounce off and around madly to get everywhere, giving quite a strobing laser-light show. When they stopped, an optical scan was required of Aleron, scanning through the visor, and finally the last doors opened. He took off his mask and took a deep breath as they entered the humid, cool area.
"Welcome...to my lab." he said, holding his arms out. The scent, the air, humidity, constant flow of light mist, could only be described as 'rain forest'. Aleron didn't have a specialized air in his lab. He had an entire environmental habitation system. And, speaking of the lab, it was...impressive. He must have taken one of the large storage bays in the ship for his lab. Hell, he might have very well taken over one of the small hangers for a Class I ship. Along the walls were quite a few plants and plant specimens of all kinds from countless planets, being flowers, roots, vines, trees, anything and everything, all in their own little chambers, all enviornmentalized. In the centers of the room were high-grade observation and testing equipment, used for experiments, dissection, analyzing, anything involving finding how something ticked. On the opposite wall was the same set-up as the plant-life, but with organisms. Molds, fungus, bacteria, pathogens, absolutely everything that was super-small, but so much of it that it was visible. Honestly, if Aleron ever needed money, he could open his lab as a botanical/organism zoo.
"I got lucky, you know. I said I couldn't go on this mission without at least what I listed shipped to me under very direct specifications. The Door Chamber lock, the center equipment, and the envio-chambers are all I got."
He turned to her and handed her a box of tissues for blood-loss during de/re-compression.

Miya nodded and did as Aleron said, putting the oxygen masks on herself and Sonja. Wide, curious speckled blue eyes watched everything carefully. The half-elf winced as her ears popped loudly and her nose felt wet with a small trickle of blood. Looking over at Sonja, she saw a similar red trail from the unconscious woman's nose. The second chamber was just as intriguing as the first, but without the discomfort. Though, she got a very mild headache when she stepped inside, closer to the lab. Then the doors opened, the oxygen masks were removed from both females, and she stepped inside the lab while taking a deep breath of the clean, moist air.
What those speckled eyes took in was breath-taking. All the plants and microbes...so much life... It certainly explained her mild headache; all those minuscule flickers of life in such enormous quantities were clouding her life-sense...like blaring loud music or looking at a bright light or tasting very spicy food. Yet she could still distinctly feel Aleron and Sonja, so it was fine. As a doctor and lover of life, the lab was almost like a dream; the headache being the one indicator that it truly was real.
"Wow...amazing..." she said quietly, voice full of awe and wonder, as she grabbed some tissues for herself and the survivor and went to work on cleaning them up while still looking around the room at everything.

Aleron chuckled as he turned to the girls. His eyes, in this more natural setting, seemed to un-cloud and, instead of grey-ish silver in that tainted air, were a bright, radium-cyan that almost seemed to glow. "I'm glad you like it." he said, clearing hiding his pride for it. He turned and motioned to follow. "I built it all myself. Had to get the parts ordered in from my old lab back at HQ. Of course I hardly got what I demanded... I'd say this is around an 18th of the size with about a 50th of the specimens. These are the ones that I'm just working with now, so I thought I could continue during my work on this mission. I don't mind at all you looking around or asking question, just ask me before you touch anything. That isn't glass between you and the specimens, it's a specially developed, extreamly portable, rubber-like micro-fiber. Technicly, you can walk right through it and it'll re-form behind you. I got the idea from a few mold and film specimen a number of years ago. I've been working on developing an Exo-suit from the stuff, but it's difficult to keep it from re-forming over where the filters are for helmets..." he explained, directing her to stop. If she would look hard enough, she could see said material all around the room around different equipment. It basically formed where walls would be, making rooms for different things. This way, though, he could monitor wherever he wanted without leaving where he was working.
"It's going to feel like walking through a spider-web, but don't worry. None of it stays on you." he said as he walked through one of the 'walls' to some other equipment that she would actually recognize.

Miya's eyes stopped roaming for a few seconds when Aleron turned in her direction. His eyes...had they always been that color? No...they definitely hadn't... Strange.
She followed him when he started moving, pushing Sonja's stretcher. Her ears listened intently to his words as her head slowly nodded every once in a while in understanding. It sounded like Aleron's real lab was immensely more spectacular than the makeshift one they were in now.
Stopping, she observed the micro-fiber's appearance, amazed at it's absolute clarity. Following after Aleron when he walked through the 'wall', her body shuddered slightly at the unusual feel of it. Looking over the equipment, she started listing off in her head all the things she recognized...and made up temporary terms for anything she didn't. A hand went to her forehead and her eyes closed for a couple seconds, a near-silent "Ow" escaping her lips as her headache was starting to get to her...she'd never been around so many different, vibrantly healthy individual life-forces before.

Aleron turned to her. "Is this alright? I picked up some medical equipment just in case. I've always been interested in surgery, so I've the tools for that..." he said, going to the stretcher and waiting for her to help him lift the girl onto the medical bed.
"And....Doctor? I had a question for you, once your sure your patient is alright and you're situated.." he threw out there.

Miya moved her hand from her forehead and opened her eyes to see Aleron looking at her. "Yeah. I shouldn't have to worry about running out of supplies or not having the right ones with all the stuff you have here." Going over to the stretcher, she and Aleron were able to transfer Sonja to the medical bed.
"Ask away," she said calmly to the scientist, eyes glancing around the lab while her long, pointed ears stayed alert.

Aleron looked around a bit. "You're a medic...a doctor. That means, I'm sure, you've quite a background in modern and post-modern procedures...?" he asked, but didn't wait for an answer. "I've been studying medical procedure for quite some time, specifically surgery. Though, older methods are of equal interest to me." he went on. Turning a bit, he crosses his arms and lifted one so that his hand rested on his chin. "Tell me...what do you know of... Lobotomy and Live Autopsy?" he asked, his com-link having been off since they arrived, and to anyone else, her's would be static-y and difficult to make out.

The medic listened to his questions and simply stared at him for a few seconds until she finally blinked a couple times. "...You're kidding, right?" she asked, disbelieving and nervous. Yet, by his expression and tone, she knew he wasn't. "You're not..." This time, her tone was low and freaked out. "I don't know anything about them...there's no way I could ever do either of those, so I had neither a need nor want to learn anything about them at all." To most people, her overly-freaked and creeped out tone would seem like quite an over-reaction. It honestly seemed like she'd just been seriously asked if she ate her own kind, or something similarly horrid. Yet, she had a reason for her reaction...the same reason she currently had a mild headache when no one else would.

Aleron sighed. Not the reaction he was hoping for. "They may be out-dated, but don't you think they could be revised to modern times? Think of what we learned through those procedures back then that's invaluable now, and imagine what we could learn now from the same things, but modernized!" He said, taking her hand and leading her straight toward the plant-side. "Look. That flower, it's petals are paralyzing, but only to the nerves. The most powerful anastetic around. And that vine?If my research is correct, it can work exactly the same as blood-vessels and be temporarily fused to them with-out any help at all. And that tree? It's bark can be mashed down into a liquid that works like a cauterizing agent, but promotes cell regeneration, making scars nearly invisible!! Back then, the methods were brutal because the patients could feel the entire procedure, and they were used incorrectly or with shoddy tools...but now...with my research, I think we could do the same things, but with-out so much as leaving a single scar on the person!" he spectated, turning to her.
"Imagine if we could simple open everything and check it all at once! Fix and check multiple places simultaneously with something as simple as plant-roots! Even cure mental problems with some leaves and bark!! If we modernized older practices, they could become more efficient then even the top-grade procedures we have now. We could jump hundreds of years ahead in the medical world!!"

Miya stayed quiet after her freak-out, listening to his words. He seemed really excited about everything and, as he talked and explained his thinking, something changed in the half-elf's body language. Her eyes, which had been wide and scared, slowly relaxed and became attentive; her ears, which had been stiff and tilted back against her skull, slowly returned to their normal position and twitched at the occasional odd sound; and her posture, which had been stiff and rigid, relaxed. The talk of taking those horrid procedures that had severely injured and killed so many people and making it safer and more effective...it was intriguing, to say the least.
"Natural medicine...no lasting ill-effects on the patient...much more efficient and painless... That would be...wonderful. Would change the medical world. And no more pain...no more pain on the path to recovery..." she murmured quietly, thinking aloud, the last sentence barely above a whisper. "Aleron," she said at a normal volume, "your research could help so many people. It sounds a bit crazy but, if it truly works like you say it could...I'd definitely use whatever you come up with." Reducing the pain for her patients, feeling them get better faster; it was something that Miya had always wanted to be able to do.

Aleron couldn't help but smile. "Exactly..! Even the most painful procedures would be painless! I bet I could even extend life expectancy...if there isn't any cancerous problem or shut-down or failure in the body, then it would last longer, wouldn't it? And if it lasts longer, of course, one would live longer! Humans could live to standard Eleven age, and just imagine other races! Even mental dis abilitys! They're just abnormalities or under-development of the brain, nerves, or otherwise. Such a simple concept but still no cure. But I could! Re-work the nerves, hyper-develop the brain, rewire the genes, even!" he said, clearly happy someone else could see and understand his vision. "I may even be able to...cure terminal diseases and conditions..." he said, his face loosing it's cheer. Something was behind that statement for sure...
