ElladanKenet Cale Darksun They really cant. No one has seen a double blader since Exar Kun. And thats alot of time. Maul was a skilled fighter. He could have easily pawned Dooku. Dooku wouldnt be able to handle Maul's style. Maul would also have smacked Ventriss around too. And Grievous' silly moves wouldnt even give him pause. Vader is the only Sithling who could stand against Maul with a chance of Victory. Forgetting Bastilla Shan and another handfull of Dark Jedi and Sith up until the Seventh Battle of Rusaun? So that makes a difference how? Its still been several thousand years since anyone's seed a double saber.

ElladanKenet stellarmagic Vader would win mostly because he's uber-powerful in the force. If you removed Vader's force advantage, his saber skills aren't nearly as good. Still, Vader was the undisputed master of Djem So. In a straight out battle, with a flat environment and no weather, Vader could beat anyone in single combat in about 60 seconds, except Exar Kun, Darth Maul (Maybe), and Darth Revan. Tell that to Boba Fett. If a non-forceuser can hold his own against Vader with a lightsaber, Vader isn't that great. Boba dueled him to a draw.

stellarmagic *Slaps EK! Games exaggerate the commonality of double-bladed weapons! Still, not like I said there were hundreds of them. Just a few, Bastilla being the most recent I know off hand with name.

Tell that to Boba Fett. If a non-forceuser can hold his own against Vader with a lightsaber, Vader isn't that great. Boba dueled him to a draw. Where and with what? Well... I'll quote Wookieepedia's entry on Boba Fett. Quote: In 1 ABY, while Fett tracked Han Solo from Hoth to Tatooine, Vader was not far behind. Fett eventually located Solo in a cantina and placed a trap near the back entrance. As Fett waited for his prey to enter the trap, Vader appeared and attempted to take Solo by force. Fett, not wanting the bounty taken from him, engaged Vader in battle as Solo tried to escape out the back. Solo ran into Fett's trap, a stasis-field, which immobilized him. Vader took the upper-hand in battle until Fett made an unexpected move, unleashing a lightsaber of his own. The two clashed briefly, and though Vader's skills with the lightsaber greatly out-matched Fett's, Boba's brute force, ferocity, and pure determination allowed him to hold his own. In the fray, the stasis-field was damaged and Solo escaped. Vader, more interested in catching Solo, removed himself from the fight and took Fett's lightsaber with him, though Fett would lose Solo's bounty. Angered, Fett declared that he would find Solo, wherever he hid.

Stellar, had Vader wanted Fett Dead, Fett would be dead.
Theres a vast diference between holding his own andfighting to a standstill
I own that comic, and all Fett did was try and block. No attacks, no nothing. He effectively curled into a corner and defended.

Really. That was hardly a duel. More of a gambit played to try keeping what he wanted.
And he still failed.

Still... Vader isn't some "super" lightsaber wielding fiend. After Mustafar, he was a tank, albeit a tank with a lightsaber.

*nod nod*
Even though boba's definatly got mad skillz, Vader isn't exactly too worried about winning. Sloppy Djem So being blocked isn't somethign to be hollering about.
If vader wants to kill you, he will. Simple as that.
*edit* even when he fights the reincarnated darth Maul, he still wins. So even "super" lightsaber skills don't help against the tank. Only feelings and emotions.

But I have to say... Anakin/Vader is the one character most likely to get hurt in Star Wars. If he was so good, why was he injured so many times...

That's the difference between post-Mustafar Vader and pre-Mustafar.
Vader, instead of spreading hif Force through his skill, style, speed, and power, now focuses almost all of it in power. His attacks are slow and ungainly, and hell, I could probably, maybe, just barely meet his blade and block it once, before he beat me to death once the blades clashed.
Just trying to make the point he's more power than speed. The reason why most Jedi died in combat with Darth Vader was because they focused on overwhelming him with power, and not with speed or agility.

stellarmagic But I have to say... Anakin/Vader is the one character most likely to get hurt in Star Wars. If he was so good, why was he injured so many times... Speed. He can't keep up with his enemies, so he lets them get close enough for him to grapple them and beat them to death. Kinda mentality you get when only so much of your body actually hurts when cut with a lightsaber.

Its not like Vader had many opponents after mustafar anyway. I can only recall, at best, four lightsaber battles that didn't involve luke... Its pretty easy to win if your opponent doesn't have powers. And no brains.
