On another note, I put up more information in the RP section.
Tech grenade sounds very unlikely for the Imperium to employ. Adeptus Mechanicus or Inquisition maybe, but Imperial Guard? Highly unfeasible in my opinion.

And somehow I doubt that a newly colonized world has ready access to large numbers of troops for the tithes, or the ability to produce vast quantities of their own weapons away from the Imperium without getting a thorough purge and check by the Inquisition.

Well so far their story was that they advanced very far by themselves, and R&D'ed those weapons themselves. It wasn't newly Colonized, they had been living for some time now, several thousands years their planets and people have been growing. They had just been rediscovered by the Imperium. I was going for a settlement that lost contact with the rest of humanity when the warp storm covered holy terra.

You have proven to know a lot about background, so if it is impossible I will change it. I just was going for something a little different then the standard stamp out imperial guard tech.

Well, technology is heavily regulated in the Imperium and the Ad. Mech. has the monopoly over all of it. If a non-Imperial world designs their own stuff without consent of the Omnissiah or links to STC templates, the technology is deemed heretical and worthy of destruction.

Plus if those grenades were real STC designs, the entire Imperium would have those by now, as the Ad. Mech. has the primary objective of gathering all STC data and sending that to Mars for evaluation and if approved, for distribution to all major Forge Worlds in the Imperium. Same goes for the armour really, too advanced for the technological backwards Imperium. The nanites/nano-bots in the grenades and on the armour are quite the heresy in itself.

Guard is not really known for unique technology other than the odd camo cloak or carapace armour, with some bionics and refractor fields sprinkled in between. They are just basic soldiers with a laser gun thrust into the future. The high tech stuff is more for the Inquisition, Ad. Mech. and in some cases, Space Marines. Though as a Guard player I despise to say so, cannon fodder has no right to use expensive equipment when the users their selves are highly expandable.

To me, the idea behind a world back into the fold of the Imperium is a sound one, just work on the "high tech" stuff as it is something in break with established fluff and background. Yes it is an unique idea, but it goes against the established flow quite a bit, right up there with Christian Guardsmen (world discovers old Bible and mass-converts to an ancient false religion) and the Emperor being an alien loving peace-mongering god, which he's not.

While I'm at it, "Tank Fist" has been done to death, sorreh sweatdrop Might as well take the original name of Panzerfaust or Panzerschreck. Might as well go along the lines of a more crude thinking as was shown with Gaunt's Ghosts, who named their rocket launchers "Tread Fethers" (Tread F*ckers)

Don't mind me too much though, I am a certified GW fluff nazi for over a decade now.

I don't mind the input at all. I can work around it, basically that was a story to fit with the actual army I have.

The hi tech armor came from the fact I didn't have the money to by all storm troopers for the look of carapace armor. So I needed an excuse to have the normal guard armored vest, yet get the 4 plus armor save.
I also need an excuse for them to get the Camo cloak, but I hate capes. I mean one guy it isn't a bad look for, but for an entire armor, blah. So what would be your suggestion on justifying a 4+ carapace armor and a camo cloak on a regiment of standard Cadia model guardsmen?

I really wouldn't mind working with you on this to make my regiments fluff more accurate. I don't have time to make to many changes right now, but over the weekend I should have some free time.

Cadians wear sturdy flak armour, which can easily represent carapace armour. If desperate for cameleoline cloaks, either give the troops camo clothing with matching camo armour and maybe face paint, or tell your opponent that your troops have those doctrines and that the models are not quite WYSIWYG.

Interesting, indeed. Just got home from work to tired to talk much now.

If you really care for your army you'll go the extra mile and represent all upgrades on the models, period mister William "D-Fens" Foster.

(Nice, I was hoping people would get the real idea of my avatar. I've had a really rare morning.)

I agree to a point, but thats not entirely fair. I can hardly afford my armies let alone buy bitz, and green stuff to model them the way I want.
I mean for my army I would want it heavily converted, between paying for my university next fall, a car and insurance all on a part time job; I just don't see how I could.

What if I changed the story around a little, their colony wasn't founded before the Horus Heresy but a couple hundred years later. Now to make their advanced tech more viable with fluff their colony was founded by the Ad. Mech. (I like that) then lost over the ages. Thus when they colony was found again, their pledge of loyalties still existed with Mars and they are granted access to some advanced tech and the tech they used before. I think I can still remove the tech grenade but for some of the other things I believe that should make them a little more fluffy.

Tech grenades and that advanced armour have never existed in 40k fluff, introducing them would raise the question of why isn't the rest of the Imperium using them? Those items sound more like something the Tau would have.

To me personally the affronts to the established fluff are grossly breaking with it, the Mechanicum that are on the world might be declared Dark Adeptus for having such dangerously advanced technology unknown to STC templates. If it were to be STC the whole of the Imperium would be using it by now.

However it is your own army and you should do as you see fit.

I see. It is hard to wrestle with fluff, and I must admit I am doing with this army what I hate to see people do with other armies. Trying to make them something their not. If you are still interested in doing some type of RP I might just think about changing the guard army to a standarized one.

No thanks, ever since my own 40k oriented RP guild went down under my interest in RP'ing has died down.

You had your own guild? Wow, what happened to it? Did that pointy-eared d**k do something?

Back from UB Con. Massive Marines vs Tyranids battle was EPIC! My four squads were actually doing fairly well off in the fight. I owe a LOT to my sniper team. Minor victory for both sides. Ultramarines killed a lot of the big bugs, Tyranids killed Calgar. Nobody expected my Spanish Inquisitor costume, but that goes without saying...

Sorry I have to say it,
