i went to extremes becuase it bothers me how parents would rather put the blame on someone else than take action. yes, their kid doesnt want them peeking into the private life (i was the same way, still am in some reguards) but they should suck it up and do something. Yes, their kid will "hate" them for not being part of the "cool" crowd for a year or two, but they should suck it up and do it if they know they can do something about it. its alot easier to ground your kid for doing something illegal then pray for your kids life for doing something illegal and now life threatening.
yeah i also agree that AB should change their marketing. i do agree with the law enforcement in the article that its crossing a very vague line between the 21+ social drinker and the 14-20 year old social drinker. so a change is in order.
im mainly po'ed at the article because of the parents. this generations parents would rather put the blame on things they could alter or avoid myspace, gaia (yeah there have been reports of sexual harrasment, murder, etc from gaia in the past, violent games, alchohol, drugs....etc. someone of which, studies have shown, that dont lead a teen to do wild a reckless things (interenet/myspace/gaia, games). yeah every generation of parents go through these motions but its this generation that makes me pull my hair out sometimes.
"hocrap! i didnt do it! i was never around or do doing my parently duty to raise my child the right way! so i never knew that she was that naive enough and lacked the common sense i failed to teach her, and met a 40 year old rapist who killed her. DAMN YOU MYSPACE!"
/slight rant over..... sweatdrop (it wasnt aimed at you jashu sorry, it was aimed at idiots .... XP

Jashu: I really don't have much to say now. You and Pawn took most of the words out of my mouth. Except for ranting on myspace. sweatdrop
Pawn: I hate myspace, that's why I'm planning to get rid of my account. I hate how old guys try to hit on me and junk. I get like twenty pms from people I hardly even know talking about, "I could be yo any and everythang." I want to say, "No you can't you diluted perv! Buzz off!" But due to my nature I simply reply and tell them, "My father wouldn't like that," Or something like that. I never want to meet them but they try so hard to find me. One time someone actually found me but I played it off and told them they must be mistaken. Was kind of creepy. stare

Yeah, parents should suck it up and try, but it's not as easy as just walking up and asking them. Sometimes, it's almost impossible for the parent to find out, and in that scenario, they cannot be held accountable is what I'm saying.
Parents of this generation sometimes do need better parenting, but any help they can get by reducing risks and such for their child, they will aim for it. Some of them are looking to trim possibilities of dangers, while others are just blaming their bad parenting on something else.
I think games and other media sources have little influences compared with social interaction in day to day life, and direct parenting. A lot of people who do reckless things off of media have something wrong in their thinking, but that can't be blamed on the media directly. I say it's more of the upbringing and exposure to things.
People make mistakes, and all blame cannot be put on parents though. Sometimes there are good parents, but have children who make bad decisions, it's all in the toss up of decision making at the moment.

I dislike myspace as well, thus why I'm like the only one who doesn't have one. o.o;;

Pawn: Yeah I have a myspace but it's nothing special. I have the same pic on there as I do here on Gaia. Watching the two of you chat is like a class session. But oddly enough it doesn't bore me. It merely makes me want to get you guys roused up again. sweatdrop
Jashu: *claps* Hurray! I forgot why I got it in the first place. I think my cousin told me to join so we could talk. After that it turned into me trying to find out about her love interest, then it turned out to be a chatting thing of which I hate. People always ask about me but I don't like to talk about myself. I can never think of anything most times. xd

true jashu ive played it safe compared to most people my age because ive seen alot of crazy s**t happen to my peers. (luckily my parent have taught me well too...unlike some of my friends....) its true that people make mistake, we are only human. (jackass anyone?) i have such a beef with this generation of parenting because of the scapegoats theyve made to avoid the finger being pointed at them. there are definatly alot of good parents out there with kids who wont open up to the them (which is how orgainzations like MADD started up.) but at the same times some of these kids are reckless, lack common sense, and disrepect everything because of the lack of parenting and peer pressure. its as much the childs fault as it is the parents. (my sisters a good example of idiot teens with good parents hehe )
you could chalk up some of their mistakes to the whole "im a teenager and im invincible!" way of thinking as well....
yes this is probably the most random thing ive brought up in any conversation in a long time sweatdrop

But oddly enough it doesn't bore me. It merely makes me want to get you guys roused up again. sweatdrop when i was in highschool, i had a world history teacher that made us do these warmups in class every day and wed then talk/debate them. they covered everything from nuclear arms, social status, racisim, feminism, etc. (this was a 10th grade history class! haha) i loved it because he got EVERYONE in our class to be more vocal and played devils advocate for both sides time and time again. we would watse whole class periods talking about current events and miss the history aspect of the class because of the warm ups.(its against the law in california for a teacher to use his influence over his students, so he never gave us his position on any matter) it was probably one of my favorite classes besides art and music. eh i have a myspace as well. i use it for networking for my music. other than that i dont do much with it besides make it look good. Pawn: I can't. School block. I always miss out on things with this stupid school block up. I want to see things too. I can't even see any picture on this silly little computer.
Speaking of computers my laptop is locked and I can't get onto it. Part of why I haven't been training like a maniac of which I should. I have tons of energy today but no where to put it. I didn't even put that stupid password onto my computer either. Aw well, I'll just pay a couple hundred bucks to get it taken of or do it myself. I so don't want to though. Sometimes I wish I can little or no mechanical skills and my brother had them instead. gonk
