Maki moaned as her fever began rising again as she stirred in her unconscious state mumbling.
"Zetsuei ... .Shinja. .... run ... run away .... it wants to kill you ....take you away from me.... nooooo."
Maki fell back into her mind screaming and running towards the vision.

Fira heard the screaming from outside of the airship and swiftly ran out past Shinja
and Maki. She skidded to a stop seeing the wretched vines once again, "I thought we trimmed these things down." She looked back at Shinja, "Get inside." Turning back flames formed in her hand leaving behind her bow and arrows. She strung an arrow on the bow and raised it up pulling back on the string she carefully aimed at the vines. Tied around the head of the arrow was one of her orange feathers, and the head of the arrow began to glow a hot amber color as she started to charge her magic into the arrow. Then releasing the string she sent the arrow flying towards the vines as the whole arrow became engulfed in frames.

As the arrow hit the base of the vines they began whithering down to the ground and soon more vines emerged from the ground reaching towards the airship ignoring Zetsuei and Kyana.
Soon the same voice Maki has been hearing came hissing from the ground.
"Bring her back here! You can't leave!"

Suddenly Kisaragi came flying over Kyana head and landing with a thump on the ground and instantly launching a firey disc around the three humans cutting three vines then returning to him.
"...GRR, These vines don't look to friendly human, need a hand?..."

His heart and mind racing, Shinja glanced back and forth at Maki and Zetsuei before finally making up his mind. Before he acted on his decision, he muttered a few words and, in seconds, a shield of pure magical energy surrounded Maki and the airship. "You'll be safe...don't worry. I'll be back for you." The shield, whose energy crackled like electricity, instantly disintegrated a few of the vines that were too close to it.
For the first time since he met the others, Shinja removed his coat, revealing scarred arms, a black body-armor vest, and even the mark of the infection, which now covered his forearm and looked almost like smoke.
Placing the long jacket under Maki's head to act as a pillow as he set her down, he spoke. "Rest...and take this." He quickly busted open a nearby crate and pulled out a bottle of his elixir. "It'll cure the fever...at least, temporarily." Before rushing onto the battlefield, Shinja kissed her forehead. His sight was tunnel-visioned as he ran along the vines, slicing them with the Kusanagi. "Leave her ALONE!!!" Shinja seemed to be in some sort of frenzy as he slashed at every vine he saw.
The fire in his eyes was visible to anyone in the vicinity.

Kyana looked at Zetsuei readying his weapon as shinja ran with maki.
"... ARE YOU GUYS ALL FEELING OK? Whats going on? What wil be fun?"
Kyana turned as kisaragi landed he seemed to be slicing something but what she could not tell she could swear he was merely slashing at thin air.
"Are we reenacting a play or is there something I don't know about?"
A shield appeared around the ship and Kyana looked confused
"What on new gaia is going on?"

"Kyana these are the vines we spoke of, they are after Maki."
Firing a spirit bullet a portion of the vines shattered then saw Kisargi come bsck and slash at the vines
"We could use all the help we can get"

"Are you feeling ok Zetsuei?"
Kyana said in a calm way.
"Perhaps you have over exerted yourselves. There is no vines here. You are slashing and hacking at thin air."
Kyana watched as everyone around her seemed to be acting just like zetsuei including Kisaragi.
"I see no vines now just as I saw no vines earlier nor damage to the city when I was here earlier."

"Im feeling fine Kyana. Perhaps there is something wrong with you. The vines are here and I dont know why you cannot see them."
Firing another round at the vines he looked around to see which ones are closest.
"Head towards the airship Kyana, and go with Maki and Fira, Kisargi and I can handle this"

After the arrow had hit it's mark the reality suddenly kicked in, as a pain shot up Fira's arm. She foolishly forgotten about her sprained arm, and trying to pull a string tightly back was just enough to bother the already wounded muscle. Quickly She grabbed her arm where the pain was and let the bow loosely hand on her good arm and muttered, "No, not now."
Looking up Fira back off from the vines, at the moment if she were to use her bow again, it would not only hurt the vines, but also hurt her herself. Carefully she slung the bow over her shoulder, and kept her wounded arm close to her body as she held her cane with in the inside of her elbow. She began to form an orb of glowing white fire and raised it up throwing it as hard as she could at where most of the vines seemed to be.
As the orb hit in the middle of the cluster of vines it sent out three waves of hot spinning fire along the ground burning what ever vines the fire touched. Even though it burnt the vines it would not burn the group, because unlike others, a phoenix controlled the power of what their could burn and what it couldn't burn. And after throwing that orb she began to charge up another white spear in her hand, waiting until the right time to use it.

The vines shriveled as the flames from the party's attack burnt them but just as they fell others sprang up reaching for the airship but as it had already used most of the blood and darkness it absorbed earlier it began to lose energy trying to regenerate more vines and focused on the group with the existing vines unharmed. Twisting around Zetsuei, Shinja, Fira and even Kyana who seems to be unaware of its existence.
"Hmmmmm....interesting," it hissed intrigued that Kyana has yet to see him. "He he he he.... maybe she could prove them crazy and bring them back to the hospital.... he he he he."
The vines began creeping up behind Kyana testing her ankles and tasting her flesh to see if she had any blackened blood to feed on. It already knew of Shinja but would wait til he is weakened a bit more before feasting on his blood.

Kyana walked to the air ship not knowing what was going on. Why could others see it when she couldn't. She had been told of the vines in the town earlier yet there was No damage to the city. She thought for a moment.
What if these vines only show themselves to those infected? certainly maki and shinja are infected, Zetsuei could have residual dark orb prescence from his fathers spirit. Fira and kisaragi she was not sure of though. She knew now though that the others must have thought she was crazy.
Although she could not see the vines to the others the vines appeared to wrap at her ankles sampling the taste of her flesh before moving back Now as she walked they merely cleared her path as if uninterested.

Kisaragi was not used to all this fighting but was fine with the way things were going, dodging most of the swips from the vines he ran up to the human.
"...Friend, I'm am just as confused as you, I have never seen this before in my life..."
Kisaragi using his core elemently power he bent near by trees to block attacks as he spoke with his friend.
"...By the way, I found my sister...she is safe and on her way home..."

Running back towards the airship, he aimed at the roots of the vines.
"Kyana, follow me. Kisargi you too if you wish."
Looking around Zetsuei tired to find a concentratio of vine roots around the airship.
