Coughing some more, Deryk was moving back, trying to see where his partner or any of the hunters had gone. It was really hard to see much of anything in his damn smoke, however. Quite frankly, it made him really antsy too. He did not want to get smacked again. Not by the big undead creature thing, and not by his allies either.
"Not good. Not good. Definitely not good," he mumbled to himself.
The death hunter thought he saw Marcus nearby, but nope. It was just a random shadow in the poisonous smog.

He felt something in his side. Wilson didn’t register it at first, but as he felt pain and he shied away from the source, he realized that it was actually Dakota. Like Tika and himself, he had hit another teammate while attempting to attack the monster. The trainee felt a bit miffed, but considering he had just done the same thing to someone else, he couldn’t be completely angry at Dakota. “It’s okay, you didn’t mean it,” he said, but the boy had already run off.
Wilson attempted to wipe the fog from his mask’s lenses. Once he did, he saw a familiar moon hunter kneeling down in the muck. He tried not to grimace as he subconsciously wiped his hands on his coat. “Ryan!” He called out, slowly walking through the sea of bodies toward him. “Are you okay?” he questioned as he held out a hand. Wilson couldn’t quite tell from behind his gasmask.

"Yeah, it's the smoke, but I'm fine," Her voice was strained from inhaling too much of it, but at least she was still coherent. As she stood up, however, she felt something hit her, and cursed out loud, applying pressure on the area while turning to glare at her attacker before pressing her lips into a thin line, "Ugh, it's fine, visibility is low."
She'll just have to deal with it.
"You good?" She stood still, her eyes darting to and fro as she tried to distinguish friend from foe; it was hard when all she could make out were grey shapes, thanks to the mask.

"No, dear, Of course you aren't." She gave Otto an affectionate pat on the head, her tone and action not unlike how a mother would try to placate their child. She expected for him to try to swat her hand away, so she withdrew it before he even got the chance to.
Undeads? That didn't seem completely unlikely considering how the thing looked like it had been rotting. "A giant zombie monster, then?" Despite try to suppress it, Eva shuddered at the thought. How were they going to fight something like that? This was like something out of a video game!
Eva stiffened suddenly, reaching out to grab Otto's arm so that she didn't lose him as she tried to look around. "I lost sight of my partner--Davey--when that thing blew smoke." Good god, she would not forgive herself if he was injured somewhere while she was just standing here, "And you've lost Gale too, haven't you?"
She probably didn't need to voice her desires aloud for Otto to know where she was going with this.

She couldn't see anything in the sudden fog, but she ran up anyway, in the same direction as before- or so she thought, and swung Alynthe again. The blade nicked something this time, again- at least, she thought, she was getting some damage in.
Attacking your ickle friendsies, are we now?

For once, the continuous sand and wind worked for the trainees as the smoke quickly dissolved, leaving no sign of the monstrosity.
Before they could ponder where it was, it burst from the ground again, large five-foot spines first, followed by layers and layers of bones and finally black-charred flesh. It hissed, making a strange wheezing noise, the sound of several groans and screams at the same time. As its body surfaced, standing an impressive height of ten feet, its entire length at least twice as long, it slowed down and seemingly quivered, coming to a full stop, head raised high. From its flanks, from the protruding bones, something gurgled, separating from the flesh, as what looked like a decaying arm flopped into the sand, still. A decaying human arm.
And for those who had decided to put their masks on, or even still were wearing them, they could see, through the expanse of grey, faint flecks of pale yellow and green from within the creature. BOSS BATTLE ROUND 3 BOSS BATTLE: 60 HP- This is a boss fight! - If you don't know how to battle check out the battling mechanics and information!. - You can only get one attack per GM round/phase- Before you attack, ROLL A 6-sided dice. If odd, you take 10 damage from spines (again) and are paralyzed. If you roll even you may now directly move on to a charged attack! The ambient Fear around the creature makes it very easy for your weapons to absorb enough for an attack! - If you DID NOT get an attack in last round, skip last round and move to this one - You can have unlimited rp reactions, but once again ROLL ONLY ONCE PER ROUND.

"Had better days..." He grumbled, taking the offered hand and getting to his feet. "I can't tell who's more dangerous--the monster or my own allies." Still he was thankful to see his friend.
"Where's the creature...?" He asked. Now that the smoke had cleared, it was gone.

Again, the creature came from underneath, striking him with those damn spines and knocking him back onto the ground. Only this time, he felt like he was starting to black out.

He barely had time to even react before the spines came towards him, knocking him back off his feet. Gale gave a half strangled cry, landing several feet away, his head spinning unpleasantly.
I just want to get the hell out of here.

Dakota grinned when he heard Ariane's voice through the headset, pleased to know she was still alive. He heard her muttered ow though and felt bad, looked like he wasn't the only one taking and giving beatings around here.
"Damn this smoke." He muttered into the headset, he was continuously wandering around like a fool in the dark smoke before, like a prayer being answered for the trainee's, it cleared. He covered his eyes as the light hit, filtering in his mask and looked around. "Ariane! Are you nearby? Come on girl, want to make sure your still alive Partner."
I don't know, I don't think we-
He dropped and rolled again as the best appeared out of the sand, another attack on them. Thankful to have his weapon, he stroked her hilt. "Thanks Chama."
His roll though brought him close to Ryan who looked like he was just about to have it. "Ryan! You okay bro?" He said as he rushed over, the boy looked like he couldn't move.
He grinned looking down. "We're going to see if we can help you survive a little longer!" He said as he pulled Chama over Ryan.

 HP: 36/40 The head pat was met with an attempt at smacking Eva's hand away, but she'd since learned and had already pulled her hand away. Otto scoffed. He was caught off guard as she grabbed his arm, posture stiffening. What was she up to? Treating him like some kind of lost child. "I didn't lose 'im. Never had 'im to begin with." He grumbled, tsking. "Ain't got nuthin to do with 'im."He stumbled slightly as the creature returned, staring up at the beast with his mask in place. It was then he saw it. Heat signatures. "Eva.. I think people're inside that thing. Livin' people." He gritted his teeth. "Lemme go. 'M Gunna attack it."

The sand swirled, filling the air in a whirlwind and choking the trainees who were trying to defend not only themselves, but also future victims from the decomposing creature. No matter how hard they pressed their scarves and coats against their mouths, the sand seemed to get everywhere, in their hair and eyes and down their throats, dry and abrasive as they swallowed to try to clear it. There was no way to see, and she could hear close by as cries rang out, apologies following close after -- the lack of visibility, it seemed, was causing friendly fire. Delicate fingers closed into a fist, frustration starting to rise as she squinted against the dust, trying to look around for the creature, heart pounding in her ears even louder than the chaos around her. Although she had no idea what she had hit, Petra had a feeling it hadn't been the monster, and the guilt mingled with the rising fear, coughing as she took deep, panting breaths to try to calm herself.
Then suddenly, the sand settled. The air began to clear slowly, the shadow from the blocked-out sun faded back into the scorching heat of the desert, bearing down on them in their long hunters coats, which were now coated in sand. From where she stood, Petra peered around at the other hunters, her midnight blue eyes flicking a little anxiously to try to locate the creature, fingers tightening around the mace in her hands. Her lashes felt heavy with grains of sand from the whirlwind, but she didn't dare reach up to brush them off, lest she taken by surprise.
'It's still here...' Cain's voice murmured in the back of her mind, tone focused and sharp, 'It's coming back. MOVE!'
She moved. Throwing her weight to the side, Petra barely avoided the spikes which shot up from the sand, so much so she felt a sharp stinging sensation on her leg where it grazed her. She landed in a sprawl on the sand, kicking up a bit of dust as she did so, scrambling up as quickly as she could to avoid any more potential danger. It was only when she was a good distance away that she twisted back around to stare at it, eyes widening far past their normal capacity as she noticed the flesh dangling from its mouth. Flesh. Decomposing human flesh. An arm. The moon hunter felt her stomach lurch a little, bile rising in her throat, and she took a deep breath of air to try to settle it, swallowing thickly. Closing her eyes for half a second, she took a few breaths before calming, her eyes like steel as she refocused on the creature, expression hard. Flicking her visor down, she saw the pinpricks of yellows and greens inside it, and felt another cold wave wash over her.
There was something so... completely... unnerving about it. Not only about being eaten alive... but festering, decaying, while you thrashed desperately in the bowels of a monster's stomach.

"OW! What!?" Eva clutched her shoulder when she felt something from within the smoke slice at her. She was fortunate that it was just a graze, but she was now on the alert, staring intently in the direction that the attack had come from. Had that been the monster? Her grip on Chara tightened as the smoke began to clear. And once most of it had dispelled... "Reine!" She suddenly relaxed, relieved to see that it had just been her friend. Before she could say anything else, she heard Otto speak, and her gaze immediately darted towards where the monster was surfacing. An arm. And...oh god, were there people in there? She jerked her head up when Otto pulled out her grasp. "Wha--just...be careful, Otto!" She looked down at Chara, and then got ready to go after the creature as well. Just run forward, swing the blade down, and-- She spotted Ryan. Change of plans.

The fog cleared soon enough, and then she got what Alynthe was talking about.
Oh nooooooooooo.
"Eva!!" Desummoning her weapon, she ran after her friend. "Did I... hurt you? I'm so sorry, I thought-- in the fog.." what had she done, oh godddd.. Fidgeting awkwardly, Reine was glad to see that at least there wasn't any blood- that was a good sign, wasn't it?
Then everyone was looking to the monster, and Reine barely caught Otto saying there were.... what.. people inside?! Squinting hard, Reine managed to make out little flecks of colour, and when Eva ran over, she tried to follow her friend, only to trip over something on the ground. Before she could pick herself up, the creature swung its tail, catching her and throwing her into the air.
The life hunter crashed into rock, trying to recover from the impact. But she couldn't move, not even enough to stand again.

The clearing of the haze was fortunate, though it seemed soon enough the thing was gone again. Cass bit her lower lip, then gripped her weapon tighter, making a face and then looking back to the two newbies behind her.
"Look alive, guys! It isn't going to leave just like that!" she warned, and it seemed just as she said, the sand was alive with the massive spikes again.
Move to the left! The voice pierced into her head and Cass didn't even fuss back against it, moving away just as one of the spines came out of the sand where she'd been standing. s**t!! <> she chimed back, but it seemed immediately the weapon in her hands responded to the changing situation.
The light in it flared up brighter than it had been previously.
It is time to play again, Cassandra. The last time she'd used it, she'd missed her target completely. It was time to remind herself how to aim...

Ariane barely had time to react before the monster moved again, and she felt something poke painfully at her leg, causing her to wince as she knelt on the ground, inspecting her new injury. While the wound itself didn't look too bad, she found that her vision was blurring and she felt weak. A second later, she fell to the ground, her body refusing to move.
