I've been watching the total lunar eclipse with the girls. L-2, peachy, beautiful. Sharing it with them-----now that's joy. heart
At our last peek of the eclipse last night, the moon was charcoal----so dark. We saw several meteors throughout the evening also. We usually miss most of the meteor showers this time of year just because it's too cold to go outside for any length of time. Thick clouds had been forecast for our area, but we were able to see the entire event! I will always remember watching this eclipse with the girls. It was great.

I was out shoveling snow during the eclipse, unfortunately it was completely overcast here so i didn't get to see any of it. Some other time perhaps.
Learned how to remove impacted wax from my ear because i've been having some problems with my ears this year and i don't have insurance so i had to do some googling to find out how to soften it enough to get it out. Turns out using mineral oil as ear drops a couple times a day and then irrigating with hot water after a few day's of that liquifies the wax enough to drain it out.
Anyways its the week of Christmas so i'm randomly cheery because i can't wait to see faces when they open gifts. Also because i'm anxious to find out what is in the big box they hid in the garage on top of my blazer...they thought i wouldn't see it there but i did and now i keep pestering them about it lol.

@ Teh-Plague---are you sure that box is for you? One Christmas, my cousin had the biggest box under the tree----it was a box from a washing machine, wrapped and stuck in the corner of the room. My aunt and uncle put it there about 10 days before Christmas, and wouldn't let him touch it. Of course, it drove him absolutely crazy, as they intended, and, of course, it was the last gift to be opened. There was a huge pile of newspaper in that box---and in the very corner, a tiny little pocketknife, from a gumball machine! Warped him for life, he is a huge practical joker now.
I hope whatever it is, it's NOT a tiny little pocketknife! wink

owo I burned down logs sitting in my yard in order to recycle their minerals and ashes, and then buried them, that way not only did I use the logs, I also fertilized the lawn. I only buried the embers cuz it was getting late though, at least I didn't use water and increase my water bill, this why I saved water too owo not sure if any of this is relevant to everyone.
Anyways, I learned that if you have lots of spare timber in the yard you could make a fire and spread the a** as fertilizer if you REALLY want to get rid of the logs, just don't use any rotten wood. And if you need to put out a fire, dirt, be the soil loamy or sandy, actually works better than water in the sense that it doesn't evaporate and then fuel the fire, it just smothers it.
Oh, and I learned that the Lunar Eclipse takes around an hour to reach it's climax, if not longer, and looks more brown than red to me xp

I'm kinda kicking myself I forgot to stay up to see it. sad I watched Black Swan yesterday. $6.25 per person! Score! I felt bad, I didn't think it would be a "chick flick" so my poor boyfriend was one of three males in the theatre. Great movie though. Very intelligent, very well acted. Got myself a smart phone. I'm a bit disturbed about the amount of male made menstrual apps. >_> Living with the mother in law. I guess the Universe feels that I need to work on my tact and patience. burning_eyes Edit: Totally forgot I had cat videos compliments of my new phone! <3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNN87FLD4pQ

What do you use for the water part? I just put olive oil in and then lie there and then flip.

We buy them in flats of 500g here. I can eat the whole thing in one setting. Never had hickory though. When I was working in reservations, one of the companies we booked would bring in a salmon he caught and smoked. THE WHOLE THING. (well, missing the head.) And I literally picked the thing clean. I'm like some crazed scavenger when it comes to salmon. Post your lemon basted recipe pl0x.

Make. Did some thumbnail sketches for my illustration commission. Wrapped all my Christmas gifts with recycled magazine clippings and newspaper pages. Buy. Late last night, early this morning, I decided to look up a book that I had flipped through and enjoyed at a friend's house, curious as to how much it cost. To my surprise, I was able to find it for 64 cents used and in 'Very Good' condition on Amazon.com. For less than $5, I got myself an amazing belated Christmas gift for myself coming in the mail in about a week. Learn. I learned that I might have a very affordable vacation this summer on a painted hippie bus with all my Merry Prankster friends and my dog for the Rainbow Gathering in Washington. Also, lately I've been sitting down and teaching myself to speak and write Swedish. I've only had a few lessons and I know some general things, like common phrases, greetings, verbs, adjectives, and nouns, colors, some animals, and days of the week.
Hej! God dag! Jag heter The Zizzer Zazzer Zuzz. Jag är amerikan. Trevligt att träffas.

Thank God it's over. I like Christmas/holidays just fine, but when it gets into this, I can't take it. The mother in law goes way out, and it makes me utterly sick about the amont of useless junk that is bought and then disposed of. The groceries bought for ONE day filled the van. Granted, there were two bags of clothes to be given away, but FILLED the van. I was told it was all necessary and needed. Well, there's still a bowl FULL of full size chocolate bars sharing a table FULL of After Eights, and other gross sugar foods. The amount of glasses of Who's Is This? juice was poured down the drain, sickening. I'm sure if we kept track of our glasses and only used ONE glass instead of having the dishwasher constantly going, one or two juice bottles would of sufficed. Ugh, sorry, I can finally think without constant noise. Oh, that JUMBO box of Fruit Loops proudly proclaims it's a great source of fibre - whoo, a whopping 8%. Doesn't mention at all the 12 gram per 27 gram serving of sugar which is the maximum recommended amount to give kids. My nephews get cereal for breakfast as well as a "snack" before bed. (See: badvertising.) Oh, and my cats were blamed for the constant cough of one of the kids. Who had the cough well before (see: weeks) they came to visit. Sorry, being cooped up with consant noise and commotion makes for a grump pirhan. (And being cornered by a girlfriend who'll tell you her life ailments and then go out for a smoke.) On the brighter side, my boyfriend bought me a Chapters gift card and I bought a nice book that was 30% off today: Grow Your Own Drugs. mrgreen

LOL, Pirhan!
Looks like a great book!
As for the rest of it----people have to change themselves, the sun will come up again tomorrow, and by this time next year you'll be in your own place again with your own celebration just the way you want it---and another example of a behavior (or two? three? four?) that you don't want to repeat in your own life!
Growth may be uncomfortable, but it's a good thing. And it never stops, at least for me! It does get easier as long as you can see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel!
I saw the most amazing thing today. I watched my husband buy, and happily wear, a real hat. Not a ball cap, but a real hat! We have all tried to get him to wear a hat that looks good on him for so many years that I've lost count. Ball cap, stocking cap, dewrag, motorcycle helmet----but no real HAT. Everyone in the family with one notable exception loves a good-looking hat. We flock to them like moths to a flame, wherever we go, joyfully trying on hat after hat, maybe buying one, maybe not---everyone plays, but him. Today is truly a red-letter day in our family's history, right up there with the parting of the Red Sea, in our collective mind. Hallelujah!!!!

I bought myself a trilby a few years ago and love it. I once saw this old gentleman with a similar hat and I said I liked his hat and he said he liked mine. xd
What sort of hat did your hubby get?
What upsets me about the over doing it is that it's not just this one time and one family, but multiple times and families. Just the thought of the resources that went into one day is boggling. I just wish everyone can take a step back and take a look and reassess. If their consumption didn't affect me and the future generations, I wouldn't bat an eye. (Maybe squeeze them shut and wait until it's over though!) Can you tell I'm an Aries? xD
I can't wait until we get out and into our own place. I really want to get a herb garden going. I just hope the next (rented) place will be good enough to house my current plants as well as the new herbs. 3nodding
