Long story short.
Steph came out and stripped Trish of the WWE champ belt (right after she lost her women's championship belt to Mickie James) and told her to hire someone in her place to compete in another triple threat match for the WWE title.
She hired Big Show. Tried to trick him, but Big Show told her to stfu and back off ho (After which, Providence whipped his a** in a backstage brawl on Raw the same week of the ppv event). And then Providence pinned Masters in the triple threat match to get the WWE Title back around his waist.
The most significant comment was made by Jim Ross during the entire ordeal where he said "I have never seen someone fight so hard for something they never truly lost." or something like that.
(made during Providence's entrance where he was to fight Masters and Trish in their triple threat title match)

Directly after.. Shane traded him to Smackdown where he was awarded the World Heavyweight Championship because the WWE championship belongs to raw so he had to vacate it.
